Re: slow linux
Install nmon. Start nmon and type: mct That will show you processes, memory and CPU usage. The box is probably doing a lot of 'Waiting' created because of a bunch of IO when swapping. Cure? Buy more memory... YMMV... ET PS: You can also use lsof to identify what resources are being tied up by which processes. Problem is that you may not be able to run lsof because the box is unresponsive. Yo may need to resort to SNMP. Michael Havens writes: what a drag! Things are slowing to a crawl! For instance, it takes 5 seconds for Caja to open. Then it takes 3 seconds to open a folder in the side panel. That isn't actually that bad but when I click the Menu button sometimes it can take up to fifteen seconds for the list to load. Any ideas as to why it is being such a drag? :-)~MIKE~(-: --- PLUG-discuss mailing list - PLUG-discuss@lists.phxlinux.org To subscribe, unsubscribe, or to change your mail settings: http://lists.phxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug-discuss

Re: slow linux
Kind of sounds like disk responsiveness. What does your overall system load look like? Are you swapping frequently? On Tuesday, July 1, 2014, Michael Havens wrote: > what a drag!
