Thanks for the response Daniel, but sadly it is exactly 30k. The machine has
a readout on the display which gives a warning at 25k and stops functioning
at 30k. I'll post again when the 1-Wire usb and the scanner come in.

Thanks again for the responses!

I could be flat wrong but 30k is close to 32k, which is one of those
magical numbers. It could be incrementing a counter that is evaluated
as a 16 bit signed integer (which overflows at 32767 + 1). Depending
on the rest of the code, it could be as simple as changing it to a
 long integer.

I think if I understand you right, this is pretty simple then.

You're using CentOS but you jumped the package shark and

Solved!

Thank you all for the help. I had the infrastructure needed all along.

where to buy presentations

2009-04-17 Thread der.hans
moin moin,

anyone want to cover one of the products that comes with GNU/Linux for
Wednesday's west side meeting?

We should regularly have short presentations on where you can get
GNU/Linux products and/or reviews on GNU/Linux boxen you can buy.

Examples would be the ASUS Eee, OLPC, Dell Mini, Red Seven, ASUS, Dell and
Shuttle.

We could also include the Nokia Internet Tablets, OpenMoko, Android and
networking gear that runs GNU/Linux.

Essentially, these presentations should be directed towards the general
public about how they can use GNU/Linux and have commercial support.

Does switching from 1.5 Mbp to a faster fiber-optic connection require any system changes?

2009-04-17 Thread Josef Lowder
Does switching from my current Qwest DSL 1.5 Mbp service to a faster

When I first got hooked up with Qwest DSL, I remember it was quite a

Upon the recommendation by some PLUG folks, I got a used 2-Wire

No switching to a higher bandwidth DSL Qwest service will equate to nothing
more than a QoS jockey batch running the settings to each level of service
based on your support tags.

I would, however, be sure that they did not charge you for the self

Once you determine it was not part of additional expansion fees, the CD will

assuming this is an Actiontec device that Qwest normally supplies, it
always has a web interface and their 'QuickConnect' stuff is sort of
