RE: O.T. email management ?
I have about 40 or so email account, which flow into a total of three regularly checked accounts using the various forward and pop rules on the servers. The three remaining account are all imap'ed using Outlook on my Windows boxes and either Evolution or Thunderbird on my Linux boxes (I don't have a preference, Evolution is cleaner but Thunderbird offer some niceties I have not figured out on Evolution yet) and webmail when I am not on one of my boxes. I use subfolders for things like the plug list and rules that automatically move the mail into those folders. So, what is it you need to do? How is it you want to be organized? Start with the business logic and then find the technical solution, don't start with a technical solution and try to develop the business logic from it. -Original Message- From: plug-discuss-boun...@lists.plug.phoenix.az.us [mailto:plug-discuss-boun...@lists.plug.phoenix.az.us] On Behalf Of Architect mike enriquez Sent: Tuesday, April 07, 2009 2:37 PM To: Main PLUG discussion list Subject: O.T. email management ? I have several email accounts and I need to find a way to manage them. I wonder if anyone in the plug community has come up with a good way to handle multiple accounts. I can put them all on one computer, I can put each account on its own computer. Next what should they all be using the same email application and which one is the best for multiple accounts? Does anyone have a good idea on this? Eudora handles multiple accounts, then filters them wherever you want based on whatever you want. I think the next Eudora is going to be or currently is based on Thunderbird. https://wiki.mozilla.org/Eudora_Releases Lyle Tuttle wrote: Eudora handles multiple accounts, then filters them wherever you want based on whatever you want. Re: O.T. email management ?
id take a look at what email program offends you the least. start there. this is going to be tough because we all have certain personal preferences... i personally am fond of evolution and gmail, and then Thunderbird in that order. but interestingly i really like gmail. maybe look at its pop settings and maybe gmail can do it all for you? Eric Shubert wrote: I have come to appreciate imap. It allows me to access my email from a variety of clients (t-bird, squirrelmail, blackberry) without any sort of conflict. No more pop3 for me! I have multiple email accounts, and use thunderbird. It handles multiple accounts (identities) nicely for me, w/out getting them mixed together. The integrated newsreader is nice as well. I use gmane.org for accessing email lists that way, so lists don't complicate my other email. IMAP is definitely the way to go with multiple devices accessing multiple accounts from multiple locations. --- PLUG-discuss mailing list - PLUG-discuss@lists.plug.phoenix.az.us To subscribe, unsubscribe, or to change your mail settings: http://lists.PLUG.phoenix.az.us/mailman/listinfo/plug-discuss
