Re: print from computer attached to another computer
got it worked out! sudo system-config-printer Find printer on host. Server → settings Check 'Publish...' and 'Allow...' on client: sudo system-config-printer Server → settings → Show printers shared by other systems :-)~MIKE~(-: On Sat, Sep 8, 2012 at 1:15 PM, Michael Havens wrote: > I just thought of what the problem might be could it be that the > ubuntu isn't allowing a connection from the laptop? no. Re: print from computer attached to another computer
I just thought of what the problem might be could it be that the ubuntu isn't allowing a connection from the laptop? no. 'ufw status' says the firewall is inactive so that isn't the problem. :-)~MIKE~(-: On Sat, Sep 8, 2012 at 11:24 AM, Michael Havens wrote: > Well. Re: print from computer attached to another computer
Well. I check the ubuntu and the printer is set for shared then I open the new printer dialog and enter the ip and: No printer found at that address. Why do things have to be so difficult? :-)~MIKE~(-: On Mon, Aug 6, 2012 at 11:35 AM, Carruth, Rusty < rusty.carr...@smartstoragesys.com> wrote: > Tell the computer with the printer to share the printer to other > computers (system/administration/printing then right-click on the > printer and make sure 'shared' is selected) > > Then tell the computer without the printer to find a network printer, or > maybe you'll have to give the IP address of the first computer, I > forget. Re: print from computer attached to another computer
It's funny; the 'add printer' wizard on the XP shows 2 computers in it: itself and the laptop. I don't know why it isn't showing the Ubuntu. The laptop is the wireless device while the ubuntu is hard wire in. I would think the roles should be reversed because of that. What is going on? Re: print from computer attached to another computer
thank you so much! I discovered that the problem was that i had to rediscover the printer. What would I need to do to get an XP to print on this computer? RE: print from computer attached to another computer
Tell the computer with the printer to share the printer to other computers (system/administration/printing then right-click on the printer and make sure 'shared' is selected) Then tell the computer without the printer to find a network printer, or maybe you'll have to give the IP address of the first computer, I forget. (ISTR that it was almost trivial, once the server knew to share the printer). > -Original Message- > > Hey guys and galls, what do I need to do to get my computer (ubuntu > derivative) to print to a printer connected to another machine > (ubuntu)? > > -- > :-)~MIKE~(-: > --- > PLUG-discuss mailing list - PLUG-discuss@lists.plug.phoenix.az.us > To subscribe, unsubscribe, or to change your mail settings: > http://lists.PLUG.phoenix.az.us/mailman/listinfo/plug-discuss --- PLUG-discuss mailing list - PLUG-discuss@lists.plug.phoenix.az.us To subscribe, unsubscribe, or to change your mail settings: http://lists.PLUG.phoenix.az.us/mailman/listinfo/plug-discuss
