[PLUG] Distribution that actually surprised me in the past..

Though slightly hesitant and sarcastic

Bodhi Linux impressed me from concept and implementation of finer philosophical
points..

It worked in first go without any hicuup on most platforms that I tried back

Shortly Before 911 many codes changed the world over..

Relevant for India were 2..
Pune became 20 from 212
बंगलोर became 80 from ???

NEW Delhi telephone code being 11, it is "GNU Delhi"

So "Delhi (38)" = "Linux (80)".

Difference of 42 in then i.e. GNU or New

Re: [PLUG] Reporting Success.. ASUS EEPC..

2020-04-30 Thread Inkar Nation
When ended up buying Red Mi 8 for no great reason around Feb.-March (as if
driven by something that I could not fathom..) I knew something was wrong.

I had switched from Amazon brand to Nokia, then Lenovo in past 6 months before
that did not need any phone (new or old)...

After that I had to get convinced that 8 was correct number since it is my
exact numerological opposite..

Delayed as much as possible to accept CentOS as choice OS...

Rest you can imagine now..!

Since every specification counts, I check names for numerological influences
and they should appear neutral to me at those times when choosing... Things

Me thinks I explored Mint for Lenovo 2048 before 7.1 installed successfully.

Between Mate & Cinnamon I couldn't decide which is philosophically correct
nomenclature...

Mate sounds like voting and Mint association with it felt like "Paid Vote"...

Fortunately Mageia 7.1 worked...

Shall try being Just to Mint for desktop which again is AMD based with (now

Now installing KDE on CentOS using epel playground as CentOS does not support
KDE and this netbook with 8GB RAM with GNOME runs pathetically slower than
Lenovo 2048 (i686) with 4GB RAM running Mageia 7.1 & KDE Plasma.

Isn't that interesting..? Happens though..!

FOR last 20+ years I have tried to stick with PLUG mailing list for
participation and contributions towards Linux & Free Software Philosophy... (I
think I also got kicked out once or twice for unintentionally imitating RMS and
though I may not be expert like him I have my areas of thinking expertise)

Sticking with single mailing list for contributing has advantages &
disadvantages..

I will stick with my own philos-office as long as possible and also honour your
suggestion of bit better write-up of getting EEPC running again with CentOS.

Currently that looks अ worthy promise..

[PLUG] Reporting Success.. ASUS EEPC..

2020-04-28 Thread Inkar Nation
Finally managed to install CentOS 8 on Asus eepc and get it running...

Everything suggested that I needed to take backup and handover disk to
installer for automatic partitioning which it believes more.

Did that.

However Mageia could not give me installer screen owing to some issue so went
ahead with Centos.

During centos install while reclaiming the deleted partitions it returned error
multiple times so finally gave entire partition to installer by deleting all
existing and things worked.

Sorry folks if I have been rude earlier... I am sure you too will be at times
:-)

Now that OS has been installed I can try other OSes and enjoy reporting my
pleasure of toying with different distributions...

"Upstream Testing has not been done for this hardware " is what everybody
reports during installation process...

Ciao

I MADE Only 2 suggestions regarding PLUG website thus far. Let's see if new
crop of pluggies can get it implemented instead of chattering about all new
stuff.

1. Clicking on TUX logo of Plug should send the visitor to a page dedicated to
first Chairman/President of PLUG श्री देवल (we lost him long back).

2. If possible give single line credit to सोमेश बारटक्के for Tux with Puneri
Pagadi. (For all रामायण fans... He works with John Deere for more than 13 years
now.)

If you have anything to discuss concerning this... I am all ears..!

Along with reggae, calypso is one of the most popular rhythms of the West
Indies. Although its roots are African, calypso originated in the plantations
of Trinidad. ... By superimposing the conga rhythm over the bass drum pattern,
a basic calypso beat is achieved.

Person responsible for birth & spread of Linux (Sunil, my friend from Clemson
university USA) stays in Bengalore..

Sunil is reverse of Linus.

Linux was born when I earned my first C grade at Clemson and was planning to
return... Sunil coaxed me into trying more so I stayed past May.

If I know correctly Linux was born in June 1991 after I had squared my C with
summer course.

So I have followed it from birth. It was introduced to me by s black coworker
when it was making news on UUNET driven educational news network.

Ubuntu though good, coincides with South Africa code (+27) in Uddhav Thakarey's

72 also makes it past creation of Bangladesh in history...

Technically speaking computationally
MAGEIA = 13.1.7.5.9.1 = 36

Constant opposition according to Indian native thinking..

Also Thirty Six = 30th June (Mrs. Supriya Sule birthday)

However I have used it for long.

CentOS = 76 which in turn = 13 (त्रयोदशीक्षरी रामनाम)

Technically following vedic culture you accept anything brought from outside
only after it is processed at your end. Sometimes called "process of
acceptance."

Cleaning vegetables. {संस्कारित करुन  स्विकारणे}

Removing brand name label is almost same...

All the years that I spent so far were dedicated to learning reading of

For years I have not done repartitioning.

Before Indian or any other govt. decided to take Corona Challenge (read Ice
Bucket challenge) ... Probably 2-3 days prior I consumed highly costly Corona
Mexican Beer.

All good things come out of Mexico (+52 & just below USA) like previous Swine
Flue for which I had same remedy suggested then..

Put "medicinal camphor" in handkerchief and use it as a mask.

For last few years, as a practice I always keep "open" Medicinal Camphor at
corners of our house as a source of pure oxygen...

ALL high energy misdirected (wrongly influenced) people are great source of
delivery (amazon forest fire, australian bush fires) only after their direction
is corrected.

Only those who have/develop capability to achieve such change of direction in

Congrats to Debian Team for coming to 10.3 version before I question/notice
then past 8.1.0 into 10.2 (Gandhi Jayanti symbolism)...

Over the years Debian is the heartthrob of many GNU/Linux enthusiasts...

One thing they have failed to notice despite all their (carefully crafted)
noise...

There is no Debian mirror in India/Bangladesh and likes where many other sundry
distributions have presence...

Not today at least...

I have been vocal opponent of some of Debian fans because of "shoving
philosophy down others throat" attitude in many matters.

I still like their zeal as well as some characteristics of Debian.

See if you can correct what is missing...

[PLUG] The Worst but Enjoyable Thing for a Linux Fan...

2020-03-20 Thread Inkar Nation
For last almost one and half year I am working without a computer (there is no
bootable OS installed on laptop of my choice, asus netbook).

When Mageia failed to get installed post 6.1,  I tried several different
distributions... Manjaro, Debian, centos, fedora justvto name few...

Somehow almost 30 years of accumulated knowledge/wisdom failed to get software
installed. I never used Windows so it was never a competitor.

In case of emergencies now I use old 586 based lenovo 2048 since it is running
Mageia 7.1 without any hickup..

This issue is related to EFI boot partition and no matter how I tried it
failed. Finally I decided to have no computer as time passes and age number
increases...

Looking back happy about my choice and sad about the affairs... Maybe there are
few like me. Maybe I am alone in this situation...

Debian has changed over time and no longer considered having extremist

it isn't perfect when it concerns nonfree  components...

Manual intervention is necessary for running xorg. Working on it now...

Re: [PLUG] Manjaro Linux...

2019-10-26 Thread Inkar Nation
AFTER long journey of trying all major distributions what got installed without
major tweeking was the least liked candidate popularly & aptly titled "Debian".

This entire effort lasted more than a month when patiently I tried
distributions and their flavours...

The success happening around 2:00 am this morning...

Wishing all happy Diwali and a wonderful festive season...

Best,
