Hello everyone,

I'm sure quite a few of us are stranded at home in the current

situation and are missing the monthly PLUG meetups that used to happen

(feels like many moons ago). The idea of an online PLUG meet has been

floated around quite a few times on the IRC channel and I thought it

would be best to just involve everyone on the mailing list so that

anyone who'd like to assist can jump in. So far we have myself and a

couple of other members willing to organise this.

Please do let us know if you have any ideas, suggestions or queries for

this online meetup. We are available on the #pluggies IRC channel if

you'd like to chat in real time or just reply to this email, that'll

work too. :)

We'll update here once we have a solid plan in place!

See you on the flip side!

Cheers!

You can always use HexChat. It is available on platforms and there is

There are a bunch of other clients too that you can use on Linux. I
personally use HexChat but Element is currently my primary client to
connect to IRC channels.

If anyone wants to join in but doesn't have a registered account, have
a look at this document which explains how to register one on the
freenode IRC server -

https://freenode.net/kb/answer/registration

Cheers!

Matrix/Element is a good option for IRC setup/bouncer.

Adding to what Dhanesh said, if you start directly on Matrix/Element,
this guide is a good starter -

You'll have to register on freenode to be able to join #pluggies. This
check was enforced after we faced a huge amount of spam a few months
ago.
