Re: [PLUG] Any opensuse tumbleweed mirrors available?

2022-02-12 Thread Vishal Rao via plug-mail
An update on this - I'm now finally thinking about running a local personal
mirror using a rpi4b with some storage attached for best results.

I took dual 500 mbps fiber connections via a tp-link er605 multi wan load
balancer in the hope that I could max them out for linux updates and other
downloads but only rarely able to fully utilise the available speeds
(mostly torrent or some download manager use) so if this local mirror setup
works, might drop back down to a single 300 mbps connection since i'll be
getting 1 gbps LAN speeds.

opensuse now has an indian mirror (opensuse.mirrors.estointernet.in) but i
dont seem to get more than about 200 mbps at best and for ubuntu i have to
resort to using the apt-fast script off github currently.

Hi Amey,

I got sidetracked a bit but I just saw this news post:

https://news.opensuse.org/2021/12/23/download-redirector-state/

Will revisit running opensuse again when I get some time.

Regards,
Vishal

Hello Vishal,

Pls post your question at openSUSE Support ML [1] thanks.
I am sure somebody will help ASAP.

I am also eager to know the solution for this issue.
I am sure there are more openSUSE users from India who are facing the
same issue.

I had a strange issue with the configuration of my opensuse.org
ID/alias in GMAIL.
Due to the security changes by GMAIL, I had trouble configuring the
alias but got quick help from the support DL.

Carlos & Patrick are the most active contributors in that mailing list.
They are helpful.

Regards,
Amey.
