Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlbumReview crash

slimserver runs on a SuSE 10 box which is my router, firewall, and squid
server. firewall and squid logs don't show anything about blocking
allmusic.com, though.

Do you have the proxy settings set in slimserver?

Hmmm... I can't reproduce it. Locked down firewall and content filtering
proxies, but it behaved well. Would you mind giving this version a try? It
doesn't contain any changes except some additional debugging information.
Please run it with -d_plugins. Thanks!

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: AlienStream playlist and slimserver 6.3

2006-07-04 Thread bpa

I don't know the spec for mms whether 1755 is standard or just
convention.

When http is used then port 80 is defined to be used with it so I
suppose a bug report could be opened saying it would desirable to try
1755 with mms and not 80.

However the problem with talkSport is that it didn't answer on port 80
- just let the connection timeout. Other stations respond immediately
with a refusal which is enough for Slimserver to know that the IP
address is alive.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: AlienStream playlist and slimserver 6.3

2006-07-04 Thread knigma

I guess the behaviour would depend on the firewall configuration and
relying on the server to respond to a different port may be unreliable
for some stations. I'm no mms expert but Google found this page:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnwmt/html/mmsfirewall.asp

which certainly says it's port 1755.

and Wikipedia seems to agree:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Media_Services

Anyway; mystery solved and it's not as if talkSPORT is a great radio
station anyway imho ;)

I wonder what other protocols this could affect.

 James

Ditto here - and with exactly the same 6.3 install that was working
fine previously. Same output as you from d_remotestream / plugins.
I'm guessing it may be either a) connected to the new server upgrades
and the new beta player or b) the fact that Last.fm is getting pretty
damn popular. I managed to get it to work occasionally by adding
Last.fm to a playlist and connecting from there.

Increasing Radio timeout did nothing. It's like the plugin is
connecting, but not drawing down a stream from the Last.fm servers. I
do get all the right subscriber channels though, including personal
radio.

2006-07-04 Thread smc2911

I've just migrated to a new machine for my slimserver (major disc
failure on the old one, don't ask...). I still have a pre-scanner-split
6.5b1 deb package, which I managed to install. This proved a little
fiddly as I'm now on amd64 (Dapper Drake, ubuntu), but got there in the
end. I was expecting to have to re-rate everything (track ratings being
about the only thing I wasn't backing up!), but can't even get that
far. Although all my other plugins seem to be working, when TrackStat
(1.26) starts up, I get the following.

Initialization of Plugins::TrackStat::Plugin failed: Can't locate object
method storage via package Slim::Schema (perhaps you forgot to load
 Slim::Schema?) at /usr/share/slimserver/Plugins/TrackStat/Storage.pm
 line 59.

Erland, any thoughts?

Do you have a revision.txt file which contains a single row with the
revision number, for example:
7504

If not, you will have to create one if you want to run a pre
split-scanner version.

The plugins detect 6.5 as post split-scanner if the revision.txt file
is missing or contains a number greater than 7504.

I'm a subscriber too, if that makes a difference - I seem to recall
Russ saying that part of the recent work was to make it easier to give
subscribers greater priority over streams. Could that have affected

[SlimDevices: Plugins] XM plugin still flakey for me

2006-07-04 Thread jarome

No one answered my posts on a different thread, so I will try again in a
new thread.

I am using the plugin in Linux (SUSE 10.1)and SlimServer 6.3.

Problem 1:
On softsqueeze, it almost never starts by pressing softsqueeze buttons.
It will usually (but not always) start using the Web interface.

Problem 2:
On either SoftSqueeze or SqueezeBox, the XM Classics station stops
after a while. I have an 8 Mbps internet connection, so I do not think
that is the problem. I am pinging player.xmradio.com using PingPlotter
and see no drops. Once it stops, it is very hard to start again.

What is the Play button supposed to do in theis plugin? More visual
feedback (e.g., Buffering %) would help since the buffering can take a
really long time.

2006-07-04 Thread bpa

The chain of data roughly goes as follows

BBC-Mplayer-socketwrapper-lame-slimserver-SB3

Most buffering issues showup between BBC and Mplayer - however since
your parallel test (assuming both Mplayer's ran on the same PC at the
same time) - this would indicate the problem is between socketwrapper
and the SB3 and becaause of the way things are buffered - I think the
problem is somehow with slimserver.

Can you give some system details Windows version ? CPU ? Memory ?

Also what Server/Player settings/Preferences did you use to get the
Buffering information on screen - I have never used this and I want to
understand the conditions which make the message appear.

Quoting Michael Herger [EMAIL PROTECTED]:

Ok, now I know where the error occurs. Will be hard to find out why,
though, as I can't reproduce the calling of the error handling routine.
I'll see. But there's still football (soccer) playing...

consider it something to do while you wait for the penalty kicks ;)

You're so right... the Germans always only win after the 90th minute :-)
But that's slightly off-topic.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlbumReview crash

2006-07-04 Thread Michael Herger

My wife is down at the pub watching the game, so I've got lots of time to
help debug :)

I'm sorry: game over, 2:0 for Italy. I have to go to bed :-)

Tomorrow I'll take a look at the logs. Thanks a lot!

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: AlienBBC issues

2006-07-04 Thread bpa

1. Try increase Radio Stationm timeout to 20 or 30 - found under Server
Setting/Network

2. Ensure you installed the right version of AlienBBC matching your
version of Slimserver. Be careful of Slimserver 6.5 as it changes
frequently and build numbers must also be matched with AlienBBC.

3. If you installed AlienBBC on Windows using the zip file - then
re-install using the .exe version.

4. Some firewall/AV software blocks AlienBBC. Unzip and replace
socketwrapper.exe by this version
http://homepage.eircom.net/~altondsl/slim/socketwrapper_0.12_20060220.zip

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: AlienBBC issues

2006-07-04 Thread robinm

1) The radio station timeout was 5 sec - changed to 30.

2) Oops - found out I had software version 6.3 but had run the alienBBC
exe for 6.5 so I ran the appropriate one and restarted slimserver.

3) yep I used the exe. Was I ok to just run the 6.3 exe having already
run the 6.5 version. I had a look in add/remove programs but it wasn't
there.

4) Not sure what I'm supposed to do here

Still no sound. I can see all the stations / programs etc.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: AlienBBC issues

2006-07-04 Thread bpa

Assuming you used the default directory, in the slimserver directory
C:\Program Files\SlimServer\server\Bin\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread
there is a file called socketwrapper.exe. It is a helper application.
This application is sometimes blocked by Firewall/AntiVirus
applications.

Another possibility - ensure that socketwrapper.exe is enabled for
network access by your firewall.

If still no sound then
1. Download this zipped new version of socketwrapper.exe
http://homepage.eircom.net/~altondsl/slim/socketwrapper_0.12_20060220.zip
and save the zip file in a temporary location.
2. Save the original socketwrapper.exe in case you need to revert.
3. Unzip the new version of socketwrapper.exe from the download zip
file and replace the original socketwrapper.exe file.
4. Ensure socketwrapper is enabled in the Firewall / AV software
5. Restart slimserver.
