Greg, I've asked this before, but is there a chance your plugin could
parse tide data? There seem to be a lot more sources than when I have
posed this question earlier. I'll be glad to try to find one for you.
What should I look for?

[SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicInfoSCR feature wish

2007-04-15 Thread erland

It would be nice if it was possible to cycle through several information
types in MusicInfoSCR in similar way as SaverSwitcher works.

As an example, lets say I would like to show the "Playing x of y,
album, artist, and the trackstat rating on the left part of the upper
row. Today the space is a bit limited to show them all.

It would be great if MusicInfoSCR was possible to configure so it:
1. Shown "Playing x of y" for a few seconds
2. Shown the artist for a few seconds
3. Shown the album for a few seconds
4. Shown the trackstat rating for a few seconds

It doesn't have to scroll I think it would be good enough if it just
switched between the configured values in similar way as the
SaverSwitcher plugin switches between screen savers.

Is this something that would be possible to implement in MusicInfoSCR ?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] multi library random mix question

2007-04-15 Thread bvollrath

I have a Squeezebox 3 using SlimServer 6.5.1. I uninstalled and
reinstalled SlimServer with the latest plugins this morning because I
still had problems. I went into the MultiLibary web interface and
created my Deciding Library with the correct path. Saved it as
deciding.ml.values.xml. Then I went into the SQL web interface and
created a new playlist using the "Random Songs" playlist type.
Playlist name: Deciding Random songs, Groups: Deciding Random, I
checked Do Not Repeat Songs Within Same Playlist, Library: Deciding
Library, Predfined SQL, and saved it as randomtracks.sql.values. With
the Squeezbox, I went into Plugins, Dynamic Playlist, Deciding Random,
Deciding Random Songs. Then I press Play on the remote. The display
shows Failed Deciding Random Songs. If I do the Custom Browse I can
see only what is in the Deciding folder. I must be missing one small
step. I would be so happy if this worked. Thanks.

After you have done this, you can change back the "Show debug messages"

That's cos it not obvious :-)

In MC, right click on a playlist, choose 'send to' then 'send to
(external)' then 'Slimserver as a Playlist'.

This will build the playlist on a Squeezebox and save it for you.
For this to work MC2Slim should be running and a Squeezebox needs to be
idle (it's not possible to create a playlist on Slimserver, it has to be
built on a player and saved to Slimserver).

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [ANNOUNCE] J River Media Center Integration V1.5

2007-04-15 Thread Craig

H,
MC2Slim checks for a particular MC registry entry and if it exists then
it writes the relevant entry to create the sub menu. Now it appears that
MC doesn't create that entry until you set up an external tool in MC. So
if you havent done this then the MC2Slim entry will not get written and
you won't see the sub menu.

There's always something I can't foresee :-(

I'll post an update as soon as I can.

Playlists and SQL Playlists accordig to the log. Could you make sure
that you have enabled the "Show debug messages" flag on the SQL
Playlists and Dynamic Playlists plugin sections in Server
Settings/Plugins ?

If it already is enabled, you might want to try to restart SlimServer.
When you press the play button in the Dynamic Playlists menu you should
get some log entries from SQLPlayList and DynamicPlaylist, if you don't
the logging hasn't been enabled correctly.

The plugin simply relays whatever is shown on weather.com. Have you
checked what is shown on weather.com?

You can also specify a wunderground.com weather station if you're not
happy with what's on weather.com.

Hey Kyle-

Basically you just need a reliable web site what has the info in their
HTML (ideally in a format that's easy to parse).

Since people already complain about there being too many configuration
options, etc. I'm toying around the idea of adding a way for other
plugins to add display info for SDT. This way simple plugins could be
created to add info without bulking up SDT any more. We'll see, I'm
trying to clean up the code a bit to make this easier. When I
originally created SDT I had no idea how big it would become and I
didn't really design it with future content in mind so some things have
gotten ugly as a result. It was also my first time coding in Perl so I
wasn't aware of everything the language offers. We'll see, I've been
cleaning up more and more stuff in the SS7 version.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicInfoSCR feature wish

2007-04-15 Thread peterw

One thing I would like to see with MusicInfo is a web UI for completely
customizing the formats. In the past, I've edited slimserver.conf
because the web pull-downs didn't offer exactly what I wanted. Under
the covers, MusicInfo is doing simple keyword replacement, so you could
set a field string to something like

the song TITLE from ALBUM by ARTIST

if you wanted. If the web UI had a simple text input control in which I
could type such strings, that would help expose more of the
flexibility.

How would that help?

What if MusicInfo understood more complex format strings like

2:PLAYING (X_OF_Y);3:ARTIST;3:ALBUM;2:RATING

to mean that it should

1. Show "Playing x of y" for 2 seconds
2. Show the artist for 3 seconds
3. Show the album for 3 seconds
4. Show the trackstat rating for 2 seconds

For each player, MusicInfo would need to keep track of how many times
it had updated the display (it updates every second). For each update,
if a field had several items as above, it would use simple modulo math
to decide what to show.

You could add such logic to MusicInfo without altering the web UI, but
I think it'd be much better to use HTML text input controls to make
reconfiguring easier.

Many users might find an interface like that of the IR Blaster plugin
more desirable (if you haven't used it, IR Blaster's interface works
much like the normal web UI for playlist management -- add and remove
buttons, up and down buttons to change the order, etc.), even if the IR
Blaster interface, with its reliance on pulldowns, is less flexible than
text inputs.

As a temporary work around, you should be able to do one of the
following:
1. Make sure each filter set defined in Custom Skip have at least one
filter item, you can also delete the filter sets that doesn't contain
any filter items.

or
