[SlimDevices: Plugins] Controlling SlimServer from a smartphone or PDA

2007-10-26 Thread autodrivel

HI,

Can anyone recommend/know of an app to control SmartServer from a PDA
or Smartphone (Nokia e-Series in my case)?

If there isn't a dedicated app, can anyone point me at information on
how to setup a SlimServer WebPage suitable for display on the browser
of a PDA or smartphone.

On an similiar subject, does anyone know if the Harmony Remote Controls
(the 555 in my case) can be easily taught to take over the duties of the
SB3 remote?

Thanks in advance for any advice

Just open http://yourserver:9000/Handheld in your browser.

Yes, the Harmony is quite popular among the SB community.

we will be adding a radio plugin as soon as we get some documention.

My version does not include all of the same features as SlimScrobbler,
in particular I didn't add exclude genres because I'm not entirely
convinced it's needed. You can setup multiple accounts and select
which player scrobbles to which account. I would think this should be
enough to keep the kids' music from being scrobbled on your account. :)

That is good news... Is a musicbrainz plugin also in the pipeline? :)
:) :)

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SqueezeScrobbler 1.0 forSqueezeCenter 7.0

2007-10-26 Thread Craig, James (IT)
This is a bit of a bombshell Andy!
I wish I hadn't just spent the last week adding Jive support to
SqueezeScrobbler.

I hope this means you will be offering LastFM on Squeezenetwork as well?
And fixing the bug that stops LastFM from working on old Squeezeboxes?

Although if you're waiting for documentation from LastFM I won't hold my
breath...

Great news that Last.fm is going to be officially supported in future,
 and in Squeezenetwork too!

Andy, also very glad see that you are also going to support multiple
users - will that be both in Squeezecenter and Squeezenetwork? If so,
a plea for an easy and quick way to change Last.fm users (normally
mid-song in my case) via the remote, as with James' version. Prevents
a lot of mis-scrobbling. Also good to have that ability via the web
 interface(s) too.

Hmm currently this is only selected in the web UI.

Re: genre tags, do you mean the option to scrobble music to Last.fm,
but not submit your genre tags to them? I use this functionality and
would like to see the option extended into an official plugin. I use
multiple genres and some of them are quite descriptive (Sunday Morning
Housework music, for example) and I don't want that being submitted to
Last.fm. It's not so much that I don't want it polluting my account,
but I don't want it polluting the Last.fm database! If it's not a
hassle to support it - could it be included?

There are 2 different things related to genre tags right? One is
submitting them as Last.fm tags, which I don't think is supported in
version 1.2 of the API:
http://www.audioscrobbler.net/development/protocol/

The other is skipping scrobbling for certain genres entered in a text
field. Isn't the whole purpose of Last.fm to submit everything so you
can see what your listening habits are? If you exclude something you
won't get the right results. :)

Finally, whilst we're waiting for this official plugin, let me be the
first to say a massive thank you to James for all the work on
SlimScrobbler, without which this official version might not have got
 off the ground.

Absolutely, SlimScrobbler has been around for a while and is not
hampered by silly things like business agreements and marketing guys.
;)

Sorry. :( Yes Last.fm and scrobbling will be supported on SN and
should work on old SB's.

Andy, don't know what contraints you are working under, but an ability
to change users via the remote would be very welcome, indeed pretty
essential IMHO. Otherwise, you have to boot up a laptop/pdf or similar
to access the UI in order to change users - not much good for those who
run headless - or am I misunderstanding something?

First of these is the thing I was referring to - if it's not supported,
not a worry from my perspective. Agree with you on the second as well.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Other Players plugin

2007-10-26 Thread PeterDB

Hello Max,

I have to say, I like your Other Players plugin much more than the
built-in option in SqueezeCenter.

So far, it is worked flawlessly in my now 3 SB3 setup, only 2 before,
soon to be 4.

However, I would like to make a feature request: Would if be possible
to add an option for All Players, so you have the individual players
and then have a last option for All Players

/Peter

P.S. Thanks for the great plugins. It will be superb with the All
Players ;-)

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Alien BBC failure - problem can't connect to server

2007-10-26 Thread bpa

Menu handling of AlienBBC was re-written which might make it a bit
better as a result of better caching.

No change in the actual streaming - the same mplayer does all the work
and whether it plays smoothly or stutters is still between mplayer,
your ISP and the BBC servers.

SC 7.0 improved synchronisation a lot especially for streaming sources
such as BBC.

I'm up to date with the latest SC7 build and Alien BBC appears to be
working much better than before??

Is this the latest build or is the BBC streaming stuff better?
