OK. I didn't manage to use the right button from now playing to store

Do you know if it would be possible to tune in via a hyperlink - just

sure how Last FM links to the music sources so any advice appreciated.

Any URLs using the lastfm:// prefix are automatically handled by the
plugin.
So if you save a plylist containing links like this:
Lastfm://group/SlimScrobbler
They should 'just work'.

To launch LastFM stations in SlimServer from links in a web browser is a
little more complicated.
There are instructions in the plugin itself, viewable from the 'help'
link in the LastFM plugin's web interface.

If it is the bandwidth option issue I would expect this problem to
happen on all Listen Again and not just the Archers.

You could try the edit of custom-convert.conf as suggested below - it
will affect time to start playing a Listen Again program from about
2-3sec to 10-15 secs

Hi bpa,

Thanks for the continuing support. I did check the previous problems,
but I didn't think it sounded like the bandwidth issue. I've had this
in the past when we were at earlier mplayer versions.

The above is a long way to say that I am now listening to Machiavelli's

 Do

I have MIS set as screensaver while playing with a short delay, say 5

SqueezeSlave + Moose is really nice for streaming music over the

occasional glitch which the squeezeslave buffer catches nicely. Plus I

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] problems with Alien listen again

2008-01-09 Thread bpa

The bandwidth issue relates to timeouts on TCP RWIN - essentially
mplayer has received packets, it hasn't acknowledged ther packets
because it hasn't played (i.e. decoded) them. So the BBC server
resets the link thinking the connection is faulty and so frees
resources.

There are other issues which can trigger the BBC reset of the link such
as - user pauses playback, network congestion. Anything unusual happen
about 3-5 mins before the program stopped ?

Can't reproduce this. When you hit play, you should see a message telling you

I believe it happens whatever I set the delay to, unless I set it to 0
in which case the MIS never appears at all. It seems to me as if the
screensaver functionality is working fine, but whatever hook causes MIS
to replace the normal Now Playing display isn't working - so if I hit
Play, navigate to Now Playing via menus, or press Now Playing on the
remote I don't see MIS. If I wait for the screensaver timeout to kick
in, I do see it.

Let me upgrade to latest versions this evening and do some more
rigorous testing to confirm exactly what I'm seeing - I don't have it
in front of me now.

Is there anything I was supposed to do for installation other than just
dropping the plugin folder in the right spot?

[SlimDevices: Plugins] iTunes update on SqueezeCentre 7 (simple question!?)

2008-01-09 Thread simong

Just updated to SqueezeCentre 7 and noticed that my itunes library
wasn't updating.

So downloaded the most up-to-date plugin and began to follow the
install procedure

Copied the folder into the plugins folder (replacing the old one)

Worked through installing the Perl module (although that seemed to be
uptodate)

but now I'm stuck. On the new settings panel, I can't find a plugins
tab and, having stopped and started the server, iTunes is still not
updating.

Have read the part that says
b) You may find that the plugin does not appear at all in SlimServer.
If this is the case it needs to be installed in an alternate location;
Rather than [USERNAME]/Library/SlimDevices/Plugins/ try putting the
Plugin directory in
/Library/PreferencePanes/SlimServer.prefPane/Contents/server/Plugins

But when I look for that I find a file called SlimServer.pref.Pane but
it's not a directory so I can't then find the following directories.

So that's as far as I get. Would love some help - am sure I'm making a
simple error!

Many thanks in advance.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Alien BBC no longer connecting

2008-01-09 Thread John_F

Recently both my Squeezebox 3 and Slim Squeeze have been unable to
connect to the BBC through Alien. Squeezebox operates fine in all other
regards.

I get a message on the Squeezebox Now playing (Checking stream) and
then the message will usually change to Connection no longer
working.

I have reinstalled Alien and the test that runs through the MS DOS
command prompt window works fine, it seems to be something between the
plug-in and the Slim Server that's the problem.

I haven't changed the PC or network configuration. Currently running
v6.5.4 on XP.

Can anyone point to me to the possible problem?

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Last.fm don't live up to my expectations..

2008-01-09 Thread Fjatle

First of, on my Ubuntu desktop, I have this little neat last.fm plugin.
When I click it, it tell me to type in an artist, and then starts
playing similar artists.
Brilliant stuff!

So when I got my hands on the Squeezebox, the first thing I wanted to
check out was the last.fm plugin that I read about.

This is how I thought it would look like:
with the remote control, I can simply search for an artist (exactly
like the plugin on my desktop), and then it does exactly what my
desktop plugin does.

But I must say I was disapointed when I found out that I had to use the
web Interface (slimserver), to choose an artist to play similar to.

Has anyone hacked this plugin, so I can search for music with only the
use of my remote control?

Any workarounds?

I have no hack but I agree with the topic starter.

The web interface of the Last.fm-plugin is a drag for me. Don't get me
wrong, I really appreciate all the work and time that the maker has put
into it but I cannot control the Last.fm music using Slim Server
(6.5.1). Not now and not when 6.5.1 was the current version of SS.

It doesn't respond when I order a station to play. When I hit skip it
responds either not or way later. To be short, I stopped using it
because it gets on my nerves when I try it om my computer(s). Too bad
because I really like the concept. Especially now that Pandora and its
alikes are out of the picture here in the Netherlands (and elsewhere
but the US).

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Caller ID is not working any more.

2008-01-09 Thread Raymond Day

It was working real good. Then it just stopped showing the caller ID on
any Slim player!

It still gets it in the modem. I been testing it calling with skype
out. It looks like this in the modem

RING

DATE = 0109
TIME = 2024
NMBR = 123456
NAME = O

RING

But nothing displays

I stated up mgetty with:

mgetty -x0 -n 2 -s 57600 /dev/ttyACM0

When I do a test with:

cid.pl a 123-456-7890

It shows in the slim players.

I can see mgetty command running still with a number and he same
command showing that I do with out the at the end. But some times it
is not running. It quits some how and I think mybe some times when I do
a test call.

I just don't know why it's not working any more. I even rebooted Ubuntu
server. The USB modem works for sure. I guess it's just mgetty.

Is there a way to know it's working right?

Any one know what could be wrong?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Caller ID is not working any more.

2008-01-09 Thread Raymond Day

In Webmin I can see Running Processes then I call and it just don't
display on my slim players any more but when I click on the process
number in webmin after I call it says:

This process is no longer running

In webmin I did Create a new bootup and shutdown action. the file
looks like this:

#!/bin/sh
# start caller ID with mgetty for slimserver.

case $1 in
'start')
mgetty -x0 -n 2 -s 57600 /dev/ttyACM0
;;
'stop')
;;
*)
echo Usage: $0 { start | stop }
;;
esac
exit 0

I named it caller-id

I can start it in webmin then call and it stopps

Any one know what could be wrong. It was working before.

Some error I guess with mgetty because I call and it quits. I looked
at:

/var/log/mgetty

But it don't help.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Caller ID is not working any more.

2008-01-09 Thread Raymond Day

In the mgetty.config I had:

cnd-program /usr/local/sbin/cid.pl
init-chat ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 C1 D2 +FCLASS=0 #CID=1

That must of been it. But I changed it after it stopped working.

I think it my of been too that I had a minicom window open just to see
if caller ID came in the modom.

Looks like it's working now.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] MusicInfoSCR 3.99 Beta (SlimServer 7 only)

2008-01-09 Thread radish

Fixed :)

Entirely my fault, I guess I didn't really understand what Customize
playlist display meant! Maybe it should be Customize Now Playing
display?

Anyway - thanks for the help, and of course the excellent plugin!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Wave Input plugin v1.00

2008-01-09 Thread pasil

Figured out my problem. Works going thru softsqueeze interface but
choosing my wireless SB3 and checking proxy mp3 streaming in player
audio menu rather than direct streaming. Almost bought a fancy audio
card trying to get this to work but my integrated audio is working with
it fine now.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Last.fm don't live up to my expectations..

2008-01-09 Thread James

Unfortunately LastFM changed the way that the streaming service worked
and abandoned the original system. It just about works as you can see
but is no longer fully functional.

Try SqueezeCentre 7, the LastFM plugin is fully functional again there.
SlimDevices are supposed to be working on a fully integrated LastFM
plugin as well.

I've never added extra functionality to the player interface because I
find entering data quite painful with the remote. I can't believe
people would actually type in a whole artist name in order to play the
similar artist's station?
'Similar Artist' stations for recently played tracks are automatically
available from the plugin's station menu though.
