[SlimDevices: Plugins] Alien BBC
When I select Alien BBC [using SC beta, latest iteration, OS is WinXP] I can choose any of the BBC channels/programmes but it will not play. If I select the programme on SC I can see the correct link [eg http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/shows/rpms/bbc7/goonshow.rpm for Radio 7/Goon Show]. The Alien BBC plugin is clearly working, because I can select and play non-BBC streamsbut if I choose a BBC stream I get a 'cannot connect to server' error message. AlienBBC plays RealAudio streams which have no DRM or geographical limitations. The only limitation is listening to commentary of some sport events if the SC is not in the UK. Many of the the stream on AlienBBC are not RealAudio so you need to be specific by stating which non-BBCstreams are working. Since you are XP - did the install test of the BBC stream work ? You can try it by opeening a Commadn prompt window. CD to the directory which has mplayer installed (probably the Bin/MSWin32-x86-multi-thread in SqueezeCenter) and run the Test mplayer.bat file. If the test mplayer.bat doesn't work then you have a BBC stream problem. Peeps - just upgraded 6.5 to 7 and I cannot alien BBC to work. It was working fine with version 6.5. I have downloaded the latest alien and followed the instructions and it will not appear in my plugin list. How did you install SqueezeCenter - using the RPM ? Where did you install the AlienBBC plugin - in /var/lib/squeezecenter/Plugins or /usr/share/squeezecenter/Plugins as per the wiki entry. Check that there isn't an extra level of Plugins is AlienBBC is the above directory. Ah, SqueezeScrobbler is checking the setting 'Submit (scrobble) all tracks played to Last.fm' within the AudioScrobbler plugin, but not whether actually it's enabled! I'd guess that yours was 'turned on' but then you disabled it. I will add a check on the enabled status as well. Well, it's defo been disabled. But I'm still confused cos with the AudioScrobbler plugin off then this should be working. If I untick submit automatically then will there be a log created of the scrobbled tracks that I can mainly submit?
