Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] IR Blaster for Slimserver 7

2008-03-06 Thread wcburnette

Can someone help me get IRblaster working with Mac 10.4 and SC7.0? It
used to work for me in 6.5. IRblaster shows up in the player settings,
but the dropdowns for power and volume are disabled. The .conf file is
the same that used to work. I have the 12/21/07 version of IRblaster
and latest SC 7.0-todays.

I have plugin in:
users/wcburnette/Library/Slimdevices/Plugins/IRBlaster. Not sure where
SC residing now.

thanks

WB

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Execute Script

2008-03-06 Thread danco

I was looking at the settings.pm and executescript.prefs files and I
noticed an oddity.

I don't know if it affects anything, but thought I should mention it.

The migratelines of settings.pm contain a mention of

p0wer_off (second character is a zero, not a letter)

and this is also in the prefs file.

But later in the settings file we have a mention of

power_off.

Looks like a misprint to me, but what do I know.

The reason I have been digging so closely into this and other plugin
files is that I find ExecuteScript useful for running scripts on
various events, but - perhaps I just have a blind spot - if I want to
run a script manually I find the user interface horribly unintuitive.

In 6.5 I have been using the ShutDownServer plugin for running a
specific script. I have been trying to get it working for SC 7. But I
don't really know what I am doing, and am largely working in the dark
by analogy with other plugins. At the moment I seem fairly stuck. Maybe
someone else would feel like updating ShutdownServer. It seems to be no
longer available, but I have a copy if anyone wants to try.

Not as far as I know.
I'm not sure how the artwork is stored in iTunes, if it's available in
the iTunes xml file it should be fairly simple to make a scanning
module for this.

iTunes is a pita because they're using a proprietary format. If you want to get

Yeah, it's not nice.
You have to 'ask' iTunes for the artwork via OLE/COM to get a *copy* of
it.
So far, no-one's been able to work out how to identify the actual source
artwork file.

It's stored in a subdirectory structure similar to the one the SC cache
uses. There's also an ID in the XML file but I didn't succeed in
translating that to the path.
The artwork itself is either .jpg or .jpg with 100or so additional
bytes upfront, the format is documented, somebody posted it here a few
days ago, I believe, and I KNOW I have the reference at home.

Give me a few minutes...

This is the real problem - it can be done for embedded artwork, but not

Not for 'downloaded' artwork:

bytes 321-328: This encodes the second hexadecimal string of the

Often this is the Track Persistent ID.

The files where it's not the Track Persistent ID are the downloaded

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Problems with alienBBC and SC 7.0

2008-03-06 Thread danco

AlienBBC is now fine. It seems to stutter a bit at the start when I used
SoftSqueeze, but no problems on my Squeezebox.

Once in (say) Radio 4 A-Z menu, the button presses work differently
from the way they used to. I am not sure which I prefer. The old way
treated the buttons as numbers entered consecutively, so one could go
to item 127, for instance, whereas the new way seems to go the the
first item beginning with the initial letter of the button.

I had a bit of trouble with the button presses in the Radio 4 menu, but
I there must be something odd with that page.

The old AlienBBC had a Playlists item, that I used for the programs I
listened to each week. This does not seem to exist any more. How does
one get these to work now?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Problems with alienBBC and SC 7.0

Its assumed that you will use favorites to bookmark and store streams
that you listen to regularly. The new alien uses opml files to store
menu lists internally, this is the same format used by the SC7
favorites system.

So if you have a set of stations you want to bookmark I would suggest
adding them to favorites. This can be hierachical so you can add a
menu and then add the individual stations into this.

The "Search A-Z lists" menu may help find the item you want. It allows
you to search the radio A-Z program list (inc radio 4) for items which

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Problems with alienBBC and SC 7.0

2008-03-06 Thread danco

It's not a set of stations, rather a set of individual (weekly)
programs.

Currently, from the old setup, the AlienStream folder has a subfolder
called Drama with items such as Classic Serial.m3u and Friday Play.m32,
and a subfolder called Features with items such as Archive Hour.m3u and
Between the Ears.m3u. (there are also several other subfolders and
items)

I am sure I could import all these items individually, but can the
whole AlienStream folder be imported at one go? I haven't found out how
to do this if it can be done, I keep getting an error message.

If I get them into Favorites, will SqueezeCenter know that AlienBBC is
supposed to play them, or do I simply have to move the opml file
somewhere into the Alien folder?

[SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC Live streams not working

2008-03-06 Thread GerardLardner

I have recently noticed that BBC Radio 3 and 4 live streams are not
working; when I select one of the non-working items I get a message "NO
STREAM".

I don't know when this started,, as I usually find myself listening to
archived programs, and they are still playing. The odd bit is that the
live streams do work if I point my browser at my Diskstation and play
through the PC instead of the Squeezebox.

What could be causing this? Has BBC changed its stream names?

I am using Slimserver 6.5.3, SSODS v2.17 and AlienBBC v1.06. My
DiskStation is a 207, with firmware v2.0.3-0462

Just a wild guess: are you using Perl 5.8.5 on the server? There's a known
issue with that version, which leads to a complete halt of the CLI.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Problems with alienBBC and SC 7.0

2008-03-06 Thread danco

I have just had a lot of trouble importing .m3u files.

I seem to have solved it now, and it appears to be a bug/limitation in
the import process.

My .m3u files are in subfolders of the AlienStream folder, sometimes
two subfolders deep.

I attempted to import one, and kept getting a message saying that there
was an error importing.

I then copied the .m3u file to the top level of my home directory and
it imported fine.

I would guess that the original path to the file was just too long with
all the subfolders.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC Live streams not working

2008-03-06 Thread bpa

The BBC changes the URLs for streams frequently. AlienBBC also works by
parsing web pages and getting the URLs from the page. This way even if
the URLs changes AlienBBC works.

However the BBC also changes the web pages - in which case the parsing
may fail. This has happened to a number of pages since 1.06 was
released and there have been updates posted in the forum.

I don't know if this is your problem but have you applied any updates
(i.e. individual files replaced) to AlienBBC since 1.06 was released ?

2008-03-06 Thread GerardLardner

No, I haven't applied any updates since I installed AlienBBC last year
and discovered I had to patch AlienRTEMenu.pm (and some others you
kindly pointed out to me at the time). I am pretty sure I have not
changed or patched any of the files relating to the BBC.

Thanks for the tip. Off to search the forum.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC Live streams not working

2008-03-06 Thread bpa

AlienBBC only plays the RealAudio streams which are normally played by a
PC user using RealPlayer.

There are WMA streams for the main stations but R1-R4 are only
accessible from UK.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Run Script Plugin

2008-03-06 Thread GJS123

I would like to execute a script on the W2K machine that I have running
SlimServer, using an SB3 remote. All I can find on this is either
broken links or broken plugins.

Does anyone know of a pluin for doing this?

Thanks.

I have just noticed that at least /some/ of the BBC streams that won't
play announce themselves as "BBCx Listen Live Real Player". Can
Slimserver/Squeezebox play RealPlayer streams?

[SlimDevices: Plugins] XM not showing up on Duet controller

2008-03-06 Thread miked

Just got my Duet! I was able to install the XM plug-in into
SqueezeCenter, and it shows up perfectly on the web interface.
However, it doesn't show up on the Duet controller. I tried rebooting
the controller, but still no go.

Is there any trick I'm missing? Or, does the plug-in specifically have
to be "coded" to show up on the controller?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SuperDateTime - Current Date/Temperature and/or Baseball Screensaver

2008-03-06 Thread dodgeboy

I'm running SS7.0 with version 5.5.0 of your plugin on Ubuntu Linux...
Upon installing the plugin, it shows up in the plugin list. However,
when I click settings, the page is blank. I get the following error in
the server.log file:

Slim::Web::HTTP::_generateContentFromFile (2332) Error: file error - :
not found

Unfortunately the error doesn't tell me which file is not found. I've
tried chmodding the entire SuperDateTime directory to 777, so it isn't
a permissions problem.

Any ideas? Is there a way to put it in debug mode so I can see what
file it's looking for?

[EDIT]: After looking through some of the scripts, I see references to
SuperDateTime/settings/basic.html. The settings folder was not included
in the zip file of the v5.5.0 plugin I downloaded. Where to I get it
from?

Thanks in advance,
Dave

Yes, they need to be coded for the controller.
Most plugins are just server plugins.
Plugins on the controller are called applets. They are installed on the
server just like regular plugins. They also need to be installed on the
controller (Settings - Advanced - Applet Installer).
There are only a few plugins with applets available right now.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Run Script Plugin

2008-03-06 Thread GJS123

Thanks kdf...but a little more help please?

I'm running SS 6.5.4. I couldn't find anywhere to download the plugin
from the link you provided so I cut and paste the source off of the
google page. However, after restart of slimserver the script is not
listed in the web inteface and no extra menus appear under plugins on
the SB3. So it seems it is not loading.

I also noticed that the scripts location appears to be hard coded as
"/scripts". Would this not need to be
"\scripts" for a windows platform? I tried
changing it and restarting SS but no change.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Problem using "show" command in CLI?

2008-03-06 Thread StewLG

Perl 5.8.8, actually.

I feel like the server actually can't handle this command being issued
in quick series, and in fact it must be effectively be babysat - you
can't send another message until the timeout for the first has
elapsed.

I haven't looked at the server code yet, just my impressions. Really
this should be dead simple, but I've been working on this for (no
kidding) hours.

Grr.

the first link was a direct link to the file needed for 6.5.4 (I
called it 6.5.x)

bad idea. This will not work because you need to have proper Unix-
style line endings. If you cut and paste, perl will fail to handle the
plugin and you won't see it.

exactly.

Please use this link directly, then right click on Execute.pm and
choose "Save Link As" (or whatever the equivalent IE wording is)
http://code.google.com/p/kdfplugins/source/browse/tags/6.5.x/legacy/

SS should be handling that difference. There are certainly problems
with any paths that have spaces in them, so you are probably hooped on
windows for 6.5.4. I won't be doing any more coding on old plugins.
SC 7.0 is released now, and you'll find that the Execute Plugin for
SC7.0 handles paths much better. it also expects a scripts folder in
the same location where prefs are stored (c:\documents and settings
\all users\application data\squezecenter... ,or wherever you find the
server.prefs file.)

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Artist Thumb Plugin?

2008-03-06 Thread casperse

Hi All

I am a new slim device user, and I have already all my music.

Sorted by

A\Artist\Titel\Songs

In the artist folder I have a folder.jpg of the artist or group.

In the Titel folder I have a folder.jpg of the CD label (Also included
in the new 3.2 tag information)

So when I installed the new squeeze network I was happy to see all
these sorting possibility's.

Artist = "Thumb" (-;
Album = Thumb
Genre
etc

But it would be so cool if you got a small thumbnail of the artist when
sorting that way (-;

I know this is probably not a normal feature but since so many write
their own plug in I had to ask!

Does this feature exist? or can I edit some conf file? or you are out
of your mind !!! (-;
