Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: New WeatherTime Screensaver adds graphical forecasts

2008-08-02 Thread arrikhan

I just updated my SlimCenter to 7.2 from 7.1 and this plugin is now
listed as incompatible on the plugin page. I'm running what appears to
be ver2.0 of this plugin which I've only installed in the last couple
of months. Is the author intending on keeping this up to date as well
(great plugin!) ... ?

You need to edit the [install.xml] file in the plugin:

maxVersion7.0+/maxVersion --- maxVersion7+/maxVersion

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Moose 0.67 (Windows frontend)

2008-08-02 Thread Phil Meyer
I've got some Moose suggestions:

1. I like having Moose iconised to task tray. I like the New Track Toast popup
when a track changes. However, I don't like the popup when I move the mouse
over the tray icon, or to right-click on the tray icon to get to the menu. A
simple instant hover text tooltip may be nice for mouse-over tray icon, which
would disappear if any mouse clicks occur, leaving the toast popup as-is for
track changes.

2. Double-click on tray icon opens Moose window, but another double-click on
tray icon doesn't close the window.

3. If I change the player volume using the slider control on the main Moose
window, the control remains active, but there's no indication that it's active.
I've occasionally accidentally then subsequently changed the volume by using
the mouse wheel, instead of scrolling the playlist up/down. Perhaps after
changing volume, the focus should be lost?

4. Not sure what the popcorn button is meant to do.

5. In Library window, there's a Genres filter. Is this work in progress?
Popular and Alphabetic only have All Genres and More Genres - which is
empty.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Custom Scan, Browse and Multilibrary Plugins = SB3 display go Blank ?

2008-08-02 Thread volpone

I’m just beginning to use Erland’s excellent CustomBrowse(2.2),
CustomScan(2.1) , and MultiLibrary(2.1) plugins to enhance my FLAC
classical music browsing.
I configure plugins according to wiki example “setup browse menu for
classical music” but only create a new “composers” menu (not
customizing song info nor now playing).

Seems to works and I’m very happy with the functional results but
noticed some strange side effect:

+ SB3 screen sometimes go entirely black after few seconds in use
(controller works) !

+ Warnings about MultiLibrary and CustomBrowse in server log (see
later)

I don’t know if the SB3 display going black is related to the plugins,
misconfiguration, or other cause because I just switch to the new 7.1
(7.1.1) SC version.

Any ideas ?

Ah. I think I've just worked this out. I forgot that last time I tried to do
a scan, I got an error about ratings column, so although I can see music items
listed under Server library tree, I get no albums in Library/Albums tree node.

I'm on SC version 7.2 - I think ratings are now stored differently.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] CustomBrowse and CustomScan - settings screens look wrong

2008-08-02 Thread Martin_Edney

I've just installed CustomBrowse 2.2 and CustomScan 2.1, into my newly
upgraded SqueezeCenter Version: 7.1 running on Windows XP.

When I go to the Setup Menus (SqueezeCenter - Settings - Plugins -
CustomBrowse) things look wrong. By this I mean that I'm seeing text
such as SETUP_PLUGIN_CUSTOMBROWSE_SECTION and
SETUP_PLUGIN_CUSTOMBROWSE_IMAGE_CACHE where I would expect to see
something more friendly. I can't see the screen items describe on

http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Setup_new_browse_menus

such as the Settings section called Manage menus.

Am I missing a language file that would convert these items to the text
described in Erland's documentation?

Any suggestions please?

Thanks.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC addon to read iPlayer menus

2008-08-02 Thread bpa

Attached is a companion Addon which enables user to use the iPlayer
search facility.

The new iPlayer URL organisation has broken some of the older Program
oriented URL which users have used to directly play favorite BBC
programs. The iPlayer Search addon may be useful as a predefined search
phrase (e.g. Chris Moyle, The Archers) will locate specific episodes
quickly.

With the Addon you can use predefined searches as menu entries or
interactive with user input through WebUI, SB remote and SBC.

The Search looks through program titles and descriptions so sometimes
odd results will happen (e.g. Archers search will also find other drama
program with an actor whose surname is Archer). If the search Phrase
corresponds to a standard BBC category (e.g. News, comedy) or a single
letter, then the search results will be the same as the standard
category menu item.

To create your own predefined search edit the URL in the menuy entry.
The search words are added at the end after ?q=. For multiple words
use a + between the words.

Examples - searches for Book and Book Bedtime

Code:

  http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/search/radio/?q=Bedtime
  http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/search/radio/?q=Book+Bedtime

To install just unzip and drop the two files into the Alien/Addons
directory and restart SC. A new menu item will be added Search iPlayer
Radio which has the basic search and some example entries which can be
modified and moved.

Please report any problems or issues or any other feedback/ideas.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Alien: How to I listen to World Service?

2008-08-02 Thread snoogly

Upgraded to 7.1, and am using the correct Alien plugin and iPlayer
addons. (Mac OS 10.4)

I am unable to listen to the World Service. In the standard Alien menu
I can see a list of all the World Service progs, but none of them will
play - I just get an endless 'connecting' message.

In the iPlayer menu I can't find the World Service at all.

Help, I am lost without the World Service!

The World Service listen again program still work - they have not
changed with iPlayer.

The World Servuice live URL has changed - as a stopgap create a
favorite with the following URL

Code:

  http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/meta/tx/nb/live_infent_au_nb.ram

World Service is a very low bit rate service (about 20kbps) and it
takes time to fill mplayer buffer so make sure after upgrade that the
Radio Station Timeout is still set to about 30-40 secs.

All was fine until maybe yesterday. Today I upgraded to SC 7.1,

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] CustomBrowse and CustomScan - settings screens look wrong

2008-08-02 Thread erland

There is something wrong with your installation.

Are you using Windows Vista ? If you do I suspect that the problem is
occurred by the bug in the Vista unzip utility mentioned in this
thread:

I think there is a bug in TrackStat which results in that the restore

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Alien: How to I listen to World Service?

2008-08-02 Thread bpa

You only showed 5 secs of log. I said WS has a slow rate and needs at
least 20 secs to fill mplayer buffer before any activity could possibly
start.

The important bit of the log is when the timeout kicks in.

The fact that you can play other BBC live stations OK means the problem
is related to WS and probably timing.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Alien: How to I listen to World Service?

Sorry about that - I thought it would be the first part of the log that
you wanted.

In fact it doesn't timeout at all. The SQ player shows the stream to be
playing, but there is no sound. The SB3 screen shows 'Connecting'.

I didn't add another log file, as just continues with

[08-08-03 05:02:56.3805] Slim::Player::Squeezebox::buffering (303)
Buffering... 0 / 26460.16

etc, for ever. No timeout at all.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Alien: How to I listen to World Service?

2008-08-02 Thread bpa

There is something strange - livestream not timing out and the timeout
is core SC and nothing to do with AlienBBC.

The Analysis log shows a possible timeout of 16 secs. Either SC timeout
(unlikely since it is set at 40) or mplayer crashed/couldn't connect.

To check second point try running mplayer from Terminal to see how long
it takes to connect to WS.

Code:

  mplayer -v -bandwidth 1000 -cache 128 -af
volume=0,resample=44100:0:1,channels=2
rtsp://rmv8.bbc.net.uk/worldservice/analysis_fri.ra

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Lyrics plug-in pquestion : Carly Simon instead of Simon and Garfunkel

2008-08-02 Thread sl789

Hi all !

I've installed Lyrics plug-in yesterday and so far I like it very
much.
English is not my native language so it's a tremendous help.

Works great with all the albums I tried last evening (Tori Amos,
Radiohead and some other).

The only problem is Simon and Garfunkel where Lyrdb retuns lyrics of
Carly Simon for every song.

I checked the tags (tracks are FLAC encoded by dbPower) and it looks
fine
for instance

Artist : Simon Garfunkel
Album : Bridge Over Troubled Water
Track : Bridge Over Troubled Water

Is it Lyrdb problem that it uses the first word of artist as primary
key or something wrong with my tagging ?
Should I change the artist to SimonGarfunkel to cheat it ?

Any advise ?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] XM Radio plugin and SqueezeCenter 7.1??

2008-08-02 Thread SamS

I hope someone can help.

I installed 7.1, not knowing it would break my two favorite plugins: XM
Radio and Lazy Search.

I have been reading all afternoon on how I can fix this. For some
reason I *can't* re-install SC 7.0.1. I get through the installation
fine, but SC is just stuck trying to start, but never does. So, look
like I'm stuck with 7.1.

Anyways, I have used and XML editor to change the Max version to 7.1+,
but that does not help. Also, I have switched from the default skin to
Classic. Still no luck.

I'm having XM withdrawal..

2008-08-02 Thread arrikhan

Great to see this wonderful plugin being maintained. I've updated to
2.1.1 and it too is not supported in 7.2 of the linux release of
SqueezeCenter.

Plugins page lists: Plugin is incompatible with this version of
SqueezeCenter. Please update.

Are other people experiencing this issue? I'm running the 'testing'
version of SqueezeCenter under Debian. Is this plugin tested against
testing and/or beta versions or is it only maintained for general
releases of SqueezeCenter?

I've just noticed in install.xml the following .. so I'm assuming it is
supposed to work with all newer versions although by the fact that it
talks of 7.1 it hasn't been tested beyond that.

targetApplication
idSlimServer/id
maxVersion7.1+/maxVersion
minVersion7.0a/minVersion
/targetApplication

Nevermind, I got it.

Seems to be working now, just having to go through and re-do all my

Is there a way to store SC and player settings in case you want to
import them in the future? I've had to reinstall SC from scratch
several times and it is a bit of a pain to get my player settings back
like I like them.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Beta version of SvrPowerControl

Ouch. You probably meant that as self-deprecating humor but it makes me
think I didn't write good code!
I'm sure your perl code is the very essence of elegance! I don't think
I'm being unnecessarily self-deprecating when I say that I'm coming to
this with just enough C experience to bluff my way through the easy
stuff. I have no OO coding experience whatsoever, so much of SC's and
related plugin code seems very cryptic and mysterious to me. In fact,
lots of perl code just gives me a headache when I look at it.

For instance, the fact the variable names are prefaced with a $ ...is
that just a US thing? Should we switch to a € as the USD declines in
value? Speaking of switch, where's the friggin switch CASE control
block? And so far, I seem to be making a total hash of figuring out
data structures in perl.

That said, I have been trying to incorporate your code into the
plugin...but with limited success thus far. The callus on my forehead
is thickening and the brick wall has yet to topple from my efforts.
But thanks for the pointers and words of encouragement all the same!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Lyrics plug-in pquestion : Carly Simon instead of Simon and Garfunkel

Where is this plugin? I haven't seen it before and it sounds kind of
cool. Does it just show in the web browser or in the player?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] XM Radio plugin and SqueezeCenter 7.1??

 I hope someone can help.

I installed 7.1, not knowing it would break my two favorite plugins: XM
 Radio and Lazy Search.

I have been reading all afternoon on how I can fix this. For some
 reason I *can't* re-install SC 7.0.1. I get through the installation
fine, but SC is just stuck trying to start, but never does. So, look
 like I'm stuck with 7.1.

Anyways, I have used and XML editor to change the Max version to 7.1+,
but that does not help. Also, I have switched from the default skin to
 Classic. Still no luck.

I'm having XM withdrawal..Wow that didn't happen to me. Mine still works but
 it did with the
earlier 7.1's too. Hope you get it all to work my friend.

so I'm assuming it is supposed to work with all newer versions

I assume from the way it works that the + refers to subordinate dot
point releases (7.1.1, 7.1.2, etc), not all later versions.

It works fine with 7.2 (as far as my limited testing goes) now that the
duplicate SqueezeCenter source has been removed if you change 7.1+ to
7.2+.

 Nevermind, I got it.

Had to completely reinstall SC 7.1 and remove all of the old folders.
Seems to be working now, just having to go through and re-do all my
 player settings.

Is there a way to store SC and player settings in case you want to
import them in the future? I've had to reinstall SC from scratch
several times and it is a bit of a pain to get my player settings back
like I like them.Sorry I should have read more before posting. I wonder if
 your virus
setting or firewall are getting in the way of updating your SC. It's
got to be one or the other I would think.
