Have you read this

and this
http://penguinlovesmusic.de/?page_id=31

And what is it you need help with after that? The first one is on
installation, the last one is on Use (and a bit outdated, but should
get you around).
If you are using WHS, please use the version I posted above for the
time being, in all other cases you can use 0.5.2.

What does the SqueezeCenter version string in "SqueezeCenter
Settings/Status" say ?

Look for a string that looks something like:
"SqueezeCenter Version: 7.2 - TRUNK @ UNKNOWN - Debian - EN - utf8"

I've tried it in my own setup and it seems to work correctly with both
"EN - utf8" and "EN - iso-8859-1".

If you haven't done so already, you can try to perform a rescan and see
if it helps. However, I don't think this will make any difference unless
you have upgraded SqueezeCenter or change some settings in the operating
system recently.

I assume the standard SqueezeCenter browse menus display the
accentuated characters correctly ?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] TrackStat + apostrophes in song titles

2008-08-31 Thread erland

Could you post or mail me the backup file, or at least the XML section
of the backup file that represents one of those tracks.

I've tried backup/restores from 7.0 to 7.2 with apostrophes and they
seem to work in my setup. I currently don't have a 6.5 setup, so I
can't see how the backup looks in that.

It would also be interesting if you rated one of the apostrophe tracks
and perform a backup in 7.1 and compared the backup section with the
backup from 6.5 (or whatever release you were on before).

Enabling trackstat debug logging in "SqueezeCenter Settings/Logging"
might also show some more details, but the log file could get huge if
you have a large library.

No it isn't, that log message says it is unable to connect. It's still
a bit strange that you get that message now and didn't get it before
though, because if TrackStat logging was set to its default "warning"
level you should have seen that before too. If you had set TrackStat
logging manually to error, that would explain why you didn't see the
error message before.

Anyway, try to replace "localhost" in the database url configured in
Custom Scan Amarok scanning module with 127.0.0.1 as I said in my
initial post.

No, it just means you won't get the little 'bell' icon in WTS to show
you that an alarm is set. It won't adversely affect the operation of
your alarms at all.

But, I believe that if you use mavit's version, the alarm icon will
still work.

Hi mavit -

I downloaded your zip file and installed it on my Linux box. The

Thanks a bunch!!!

I noticed that the % chance of precipitation is back. Nice bonus - I

1- Viewing of scores can only be done via a player display
(SB3/SoftSqueeze/Boom/etc) or a Duet controller.

Duet will show all scores for the sport selected. Players will only
show the teams you've selected. If you're seeing MLB scores and not
College Football scores in Softsqueeze I'd think you have an incorrect
team entered. Try "All" for starters.

2- Unfortuantely for some reason ESPN's HTML changes between pre and
regular season. It's too much of a hassle to keep the web parsing
current for both so I only support regular season games. Hopefully
once they start the scores will appear, but sometimes they change their
HTML code slightly from year to year which will require a plugin
update.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] TrackStat + apostrophes in song titles

2008-08-31 Thread gbreit

The punchline first: Suddenly, all of my tracks whose song titles
contain an apostrophe have lost their TrackStat rating.

The details:

Sometime after upgrading to SC 7.0 or 7.1 (sorry, not sure which), I
noticed that a large number of my tracks lost their TrackStat rating. I
have been accumulating ratings for a couple of years now. Not an extreme
sized database: 925 albums with 16602 songs by 2656 artists.

For the past few weeks, I have been trying to find some pattern to the
disappearing ratings. Some albums lost ratings for just one track.
Others lost several tracks, others were not affected at all.

I checked the TrackStat backup xml file, and the tracks are there, with
the rating.

I tried restoring from backup. Tried removing all TrackStat data and
restoring from backup. Upgraded all of Erland's plugins to the latest.

Finally found the pattern in the song titles -- only those with
apostrophes lost their rating.

A couple of examples:

On Tom Wait's Swordfishtrombones, only these songs lost their ratings:

Soldier's Things
Frank's Wild Year
Trouble's Braids

Los Angeles by X, only these lost their ratings:

Your Phone's Off The Hook, But You're Not
The World's A Mess, It's In My Kiss

In both cases, I can verify that the stats are present in the TrackStat
backup xml file.

I've seen mention in the forums that some handling of special
characters in the SC database has changed in either SCv7.0 or 7.1, but
I have not heard of anyone having trouble with apostrophes.

Anyone else seeing this? Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Currently running SC7.1 on WinXP, TrackStat 2.3. Most CD ripping done
with iTunes under XP or OS X. Some AAC, some mp3. Same thing happens
with downloaded flacs tagged by other people.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thx.

Greg

Now this sounds interesting!
I had a look in the preferences file and you were right, there are
still entries for per-alarm volume settings.
If set manually in the prefs file they even survive saving of the
alarm.
Now I need to find out if they're not just simply ignored.

There's also a comment field per alarm but it doesn't get used for
anything and is blanked out when the alarm is changed.

Erland,
I'm using the following versions with SC 7.2 official release on a
Linux Arm box:
MultiLibrary => V2.1.1
CustomScan => V2.1
CustomBrowse => V2.3

I'm trying to setup menus to browse classical music as described in
your wiki tutorial:

For example:

..
...

That's work on much case except when contains accentuated
characters like é,è,ä,ê ... (french and german work title)

These specials non ascii characters are correctly displayed at the
 level, but when selecting to play or to browse :

- WEBUI => warning message "No matching songs, albums or artists were
found"
- CONTROLER => empty list
- SB PLAYER => nothing happens

Looks like very much the DIP german umlaut problem.

Any workaround or misconfiguration ?

Regards

PS: I encountered other "cosmetics" problems with header/footer
context values displayed as non accentuated characters in song info but
i have to solve first the play and browse issue.

this resolved the issue, thanks for the info
1.) SHUT DOWN Squeeze Center.
2.) Locate your Squeeze Center cache directory. On windows this will be
something like:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application
Data\SqueezeCenter\Cache
Note: On Windows this directory might be 'hidden'
3.) Delete entire contents of Cache directory, INCLUDING any
subdirectories.
4.) Restart SqueezeCenter.
5.) See if problem is resolved.
6.) Post results here!!! PLEASE!

I don't see any code. There is just a .par file.

Good to hear the update worked and you don't need a SoftSqeeze running
anymore. As far as text running beyond the highlighted area, there's
nothing I can do about it without writing a custom Jive app. It's a
limitation of the display API. :(

sh** I’m on Windows.
Would kyleki’s ZIP file do the job as well?

It is a great plug-in and I want it up and running again.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] No Five Live in AlienBBC?

2008-08-31 Thread timbo_bobcat

I'm up to date with SC 7.2 and the latest firmware and AlienBBC versions
(I think) including iPlayer.

All of the BBC live streams work fine, except Five Live which says it's
playing but is always silent. (Five Live Sports Extra is OK.) This is
the case both yesterday late at night and today, so I don't think
congestion is likely to be a problem...?

Any suggestions? Thanks.

On Linux/Unix you simply cd to the directory that holds the code and
use the patch command:

Code:

patch < /path/to/WeatherTime-alarm.patch

On Windows, I think you'll need to download a tool to do this.

Further to my last post - it appears that the team logos appear OK just
after an Internet refresh, but then get replaced by 'getMLB-xx' (where
xx is a 2 digit number) in under 20 minutes. If I force a refresh, I
get the logos back.

Running Mac OS X 10.5.4, SC 7.2, SDT 5.6.2.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] powersave menu option not appearing sc7.3

2008-08-31 Thread coppo23

I am running 7.3 build 21493 and downloaded powersave 7.0A2. It appears
happy - in squeezecentre plugin settings and is enabled (maxversion is
set to *) - but doesn't appear in any 'extras' menus in the duet
players. (Or at least - I cannot see it on the duet controller). I have
got it working on transporter - but it is not shown on the duet
controller for the transporter either.

If this is a controller issue and is awaiting an update - is there a
way of setting powersave on and 30 minutes by editing soem settings
manually?

Regards

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SuperDateTime - Current Date/Temperature and/or Baseball Screensaver

2008-08-31 Thread Chippy

Hi Greg -
Just installed 5.6.2 on SqueezeCenter 7.2. Everything seems fine with
the sports scores, but I've had a couple of problems with the main
weather screen this upgrade... I can't seem to customize the main
time/temp/humidity area.

I usually get rid of the slashes, change the spacing a little and
change the display order. Unfortunately, the section I usually edit in
the web interface appears to be missing?

Also, it appears that changing temp from F to C doesn't have an
effect.

TIA

I am also getting those errors and I don't think it's due to a bad
unzip. As I looked into this error message, it turns out it's just a
harmless warning that may be safely ignored.

The core code automatically adds the required 'pref_' prefix to the
variable name if it notices it's missing.

BTW, I'm also attaching a zip of the latest version with the mentioned
fixes in it for anyone that would just like a working screensaver until
martin gets back.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicInfoSCR web interface broken for me under 7.2

2008-08-31 Thread SadGamerGeek

I've just upgraded from 7.1 to 7.2 on my Windows home server box, and
MusicInfoSCR web interface has stopped working for me. Where I'd expect
the simulation of the display to appear it is just blank.

The actual MusicInfoSCR player layout itself seems to have been
retained, so that's good - I just have no way of changing that layout
now. I turned debug on for the plugin, and I just get loads of these
lines:

Code:

[08-08-31 10:57:41.7432] Plugins::MusicInfoSCR::Info::getFormatString (269)
MusicInfoSCR: there seems to be nothing left...
  [08-08-31 10:57:42.7432] Plugins::MusicInfoSCR::Info::getFormatString (269)
MusicInfoSCR: there seems to be nothing left...
  [08-08-31 10:57:43.7392] Plugins::MusicInfoSCR::Info::getFormatString (269)
MusicInfoSCR: there seems to be nothing left...

I assume this has something to do with the new fonts.

Must be some change in the SC code.
Now Perl is usually not a problem for me, but on the few occasions I
looked at the SC code (or tried to) I seem to fail to find some kind of
description as to how user code can interact with the core code.

I get these messages when storing the plugin settings:

Code:

  [08-08-31 10:14:33.6082] Slim::Web::Settings::handler (153) Preference names
must be prefixed by "pr
  ef_" in the page template: units (PLUGIN_SCREENSAVER_WEATHERTIME)
  [08-08-31 10:14:33.6085] Slim::Web::Settings::handler (153) Preference names
must be prefixed by "pr
  ef_" in the page template: city (PLUGIN_SCREENSAVER_WEATHERTIME)
  [08-08-31 10:14:33.6087] Slim::Web::Settings::handler (153) Preference names
must be prefixed by "pr
  ef_" in the page template: citycode (PLUGIN_SCREENSAVER_WEATHERTIME)
  [08-08-31 10:14:33.6089] Slim::Web::Settings::handler (153) Preference names
must be prefixed by "pr
  ef_" in the page template: interval (PLUGIN_SCREENSAVER_WEATHERTIME)
  [08-08-31 10:14:33.6096] Slim::Web::Settings::handler (153) Preference names
must be prefixed by "pr
  ef_" in the page template: dateformat (PLUGIN_SCREENSAVER_WEATHERTIME)
  [08-08-31 10:14:33.6098] Slim::Web::Settings::handler (153) Preference names
must be prefixed by "pr
  ef_" in the page template: linethree (PLUGIN_SCREENSAVER_WEATHERTIME)
  [08-08-31 10:14:33.6100] Slim::Web::Settings::handler (153) Preference names
must be prefixed by "pr
  ef_" in the page template: linethreeunit (PLUGIN_SCREENSAVER_WEATHERTIME)

Must be something fubar with the way I unpacked the .par file. Have to
find some description as to how that should be done, or where the files
should go.
OTOH I may also try to rezip (with above modification) and see what
happens.

Yep, so it does. Looking at the code, it appears that all that is
happening here is the 'alarm on' symbol is being added to the display,
and the line in question is determining the alarm state..
Unfortunately, the alarm preferences have been changed in 7.2 for the
new alarm facilities. I haven't investigated enough to find out
exactly what the code should be now.
