Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Custom browse scrolling lock

2008-09-19 Thread SilverRS8

Apparently updating SC corrupts CustomBrowse. Had a nice evening
yesterday removing complete SC including DB and reinstall again.
Problem now solved.

Well, first of all, I am not sure if I start the local play correctly:

This is I try to select a song as usual,I must select the song, and to

 Track
 Player
 Multiplayer control
 Ipeng Local PlayBack
 IP Mixer

That's OK

I press the local playback button, and then I see the transmision icon
one second, and after this, I see all the songs list...Again, the
transmision icon start for a second, and nothing happens

That's OK, too. This list should be a little bit different from the
normal playlist in that it
- does not have an x to remove tracks
- It should have a grey quicktime plugin on top of the list. If it does
not, you've got a problem. That problem may be that you don't have an
internet connection - I think the iPod downloads the Qicktime plugin
from Apple

On this screen you have to click a track and then playback should start
from that track. You will notice because the quicktime playback screen
should start up.

By the way, I dont know what IP Mixer is (I never used), but when presing
it happens the same as Local Playback..nothing... Could this help you?

Hm.. now you are confusing me. You said you get a track list when you click
local playback, that's different from nothing, isn't it?

MIP is a different case. That one only works if you have the MIP software
running. Unfortunately SC's MIP plugin - which is what iPeng detects - is
enabled by default even if MIP software is not running. Again, there should
not be nothing happening but an empty list headed by Empty should show
up? Is that not being displayed?

@jotap
From peterw's comments in the developer forum I understand that IRBlaster
theoretically COULD work with iPeng out of the box.
I feel your original question was the correct one: Did anybody actually
test that.
You may want to open up a new thread for that since I don't think everybody
reads the iPeng support thread.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Arbitrary play Plugin?

2008-09-19 Thread aevans

Hiya, I've got an idea of a plugin that would be very usefull for me and
maybe others? Maybe it already exists (even partially).

I have squeeze center installed on my living room media PC. It indexes
mp3s stored on my NAS in the store room. On the SC PC, I'd like to be
able to double click (or even drag down to a systray icon) an arbitary
mp3 stored anywhere and have queeze center open, and play it without
adding it to my music index (it may or may not already be a part of
it).

I'm just trying to gauge how usefull this would be to others, if there
is anything out there that does anything close to this, if its at all
possible or if anyone was interested in coding it? I was thinking the
CDPlayer plugin wasn't too far from what it needs to do?

I used to be a perl developer befor i moved to c# 5 years ago so maybe
i'll get a chance to look into writing sc plugins, but maybe its not
even possible.

Thanks, Andy

No, YOU don't have to download something. iPeng does that: It embeds
the plugin - that's the grey strip. It SHOULD be there, and look like
in the attached screenshot. If it doesn't, iPeng didn't succeed in
downloading the QuickTime plugin (for MobileSafari) from Apple.

It also should only need to download this once, after that it should be
present on your iPod.

Could you check whether plugins are enabled on your iPod

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Is this softsqueeze issue with firefox or linux or me/

2008-09-19 Thread soxfan

Just a couple of guesses. First, maybe the default application for
.jnlp files is not right in Firefox. I've seen where it wants to open
with the java executable, and I think it should use javaws. Second, I
don't know about Kubuntu, but with Fedora the default java packages are
the open ones, not the official Sun version, and they don't work
exactly like the Sun packages. Even if you subsequently installed the
Sun version, Firefox may still be using the open packages.

I had an idea for something kind of like that back in 2005:

I wasn't really thinking of it for tracks not in the library, just as
an easier way to queue up songs on the fly.

But I only write -about -software and know nothing about writing
software, so I have no idea about the feasibility of such a thing.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Problems installing AlienBBC

2008-09-19 Thread new_squeezebox

Apologies if this is redundant; I've searched the forum and not found an
applicable answer.

I have a Squeezebox Boom, with SqueezeCenter 7.2 installed and
operational, on a Windows XP machine.

I've downloaded the install package for AlienBBC and it installed
correctly. When I ran the test at the end of the install, it did
stream the radio station and I could hear it on the pc speakers.

I still am not seeing any entries for AlienBBC stations in the
SqueezeCenter HOME page, however.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any help!

OK, good, that makes more sense. That is due to the SC7 alarm code --
when an alarm sounds, SC7 *always* issues 'stop' and 'play' commands. I
don't know if that's intentional (another way to get your attention?).
Perhaps KT should only use the SC7 alarm features if the player is off
or silent when an alarm sounds? Or have the KT routine that fluctuates
the volume use the SC7 alarm code if and only if there's a lapsed alarm
but the player is found to be silent. That would handle both your
scenario and cases like a playlist lasting just 22 seconds after the
alarm sounds -- long enough to pass SC7's 20-seconds-after-firing test.
SC7 doesn't ensure that the client is making noise after 20 seconds, and
its 10-random-song fallback means that even players with no playlist
when the alarm sounds might stop making noise after 20-30 minutes; I
think I'd prefer that KT keep nagging me until I cancel or pause the KT
alarm. Maybe that should be configurable, how long after an alarm fires
to ensure that the player is still issuing an audible alert. Forever
might be too long for my neighbors' taste.

I don't think (but am not sure) that having two copies of mplayer will
cause problems.

I can't work out what your set-up is, and how you were trying to put
the file in the trash.

If mplayer was actually visible in its folder, there should be no
problem putting it in the trash as usual, and I would not expect a
problem emptying the trash. However if you tried to remove it using
Terminal, there may have been a misprint (there certainly is a
misprint, but it may only be in your post), as there is no such folder
as /user/local/bin, it is /usr/local/bin.

Do you have the GUI program MPlayer in your Applications folder? (Note
the difference in case between mplayer and MPlayer)? For some time now
this is all you need. A long time ago one had to extract the Unix
program mplayer from deep inside MPlayer, but a change in AlienBBC some
time ago means that this is no longer needed.

Hi,

I have a couple of SLimp3's (firmware 2.3) connected to 7.2 and can
confirm it does work correctly with these versions. I tested a few
message.displays and durations between 2s and 60s worked fine. It
actually works alot better than the old 6.0 version as I used to get a
pause when a message went away and the screen would blank before
returning to the slimp3 clock. With 7.2 it goes straight from the
display message back to the clock, which is nice!
