Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Beta version of SvrPowerControl

Just catching up with this plugin after a complete server reinstall, and
all these new options are working great for me.

Only the initial Debian issues that I always had, but fortunetly
revisiting this Thread solved all my issues.

Great work!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Java front end client

2008-11-11 Thread pichonCalavera

Hey, this looks very promising... always looking for a better way to
control my Squeezebox.

The thing that I have always struggled with other GUI for controlling
squeezebox, is the current playlist manipulation, I suppose I got
accostumed to the way Winamp handles it. This area is the one I'm most
interested of your Java front end client.

P.S. The fade out / fade in effect of Album Art is cool.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Beta version of SvrPowerControl

2008-11-11 Thread raven22

I don't know much about scripts but just exchanged my Clarkconnect setup
for Debian and setup is very easy:

- Extract the SrvrPowerCtrl zip file and copy the folder to the Plugin
folder (/var/lib/squeezecenter/Plugins). I use WinSCP for that, a nice
program to connect to your server when it runs headless.

- I don't know if this is necessary but to make sure it works i set the
rights to the SrvrPowerCtrl folder to anyone (chmod -R 777
var/lib/squeezecenter/Plugins/SrvrPowerCtrl)

- You have to give Squeezecenter rights to shutdown/reboot the server,
so first install sudo (apt-get install sudo), then change the sudoers
file by entering the command: visudo, then add these lines at the
bottom of the file:
# give squeezecenter rights to shutdown/reboot the server
squeezecenter ALL = NOPASSWD: /sbin/shutdown*

(For other commmands like suspend/hibernate create another line with
the respective commands)

- Restart Squeezecenter (/etc/init.d/squeezecenter restart)

- Enable the plugin on the squeezecenter webinterface and restart
squeezecenter again. Now you can go to the plugin settings in the
webinterface. The proper commands for shutdown are: sudo /sbin/shutdown
-h now and for reboot: sudo /sbin/shutdown -r now

That's it.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] DVB Radio Add-on for Linux

2008-11-11 Thread florca

Some pointers - I also have this running on (a much older version of..)
Ubuntu Server. I'm assuming you have an Intel/AMD based system and are
running the Desktop version of Ubuntu, so some of this may be a bit
alien, but let's see where it gets to...

1) open a command prompt and type ps (no quotes)- do you get a
result?

2) ditto for mplayer.

If so then you have them installed and in the path. Haven't any idea
what ps is, but it seems to be installed on my system.

3) There are i386 binaries for getstream and ts2radio within the
package. Use the new (recently posted) version of ts2radio to get the
correct metadata, and move both binaries into the /usr/bin directory.
Ensure both have Execute permissions via chmod uga+x.

4) you will probably need to install the libevent1 package for
getstream to function, and may well need to create a symlink for the
library name requested by getstream to the equivalent library installed
by the Ubuntu libevent1 package. I used the nearest looking match and it
seems to work(!). If the library isn't available then getstream spits
out lots of messages calling for it, so you should be able to figure
out what it wants.

5) Edit dvbserver.pl to reflect your config - if your Nova-T is the
only tuner in the system then it is likely to have a card id of 0. If
streaming direct MP2 / 48kHz then uncomment the line near the end of the
header block which caters for direct MP2 streaming and comment the
line above which pipes via LAME. You need to add a PID parameter to
the end of the line you just uncommented (just before the final double
quote) to get sound out of the thing... Resource utilisation is MUCH
lower when using direct streaming.

6) If using direct MP2 (as above) then I don't think it ever tries to
call mplayer - so you may not need to mess with it. Have you looked at
dvbserver.pl lines 522 525 to figure out what it's trying to do?

7) to run with debug turned on just use dvbserver.pl -d as your
command.

All this is from memory (I'm still at work) but after a bit of pushing
and shoving you should be able to get it working. Results good for me
so far...

Brgds
Phil

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Segfault on Squeezecenter Shutdown - DynamicPlaylist related?

2008-11-11 Thread britboy

Hello - I posted a message in the Unix/Linux forum discussing an issue I
am running into.

Here's the link:
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=54732

I'm having segfaults on shutdown of Squeezecenter after I install the
DynamicPlaylist plugin. Squeezecenter does seem to shutdown; however,
it is through segfault messages onto the terminal and into the log.

I've been able to recreate this segfault on demand.

Any thoughts on how I can debug further / develop a fix?

Thanks!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Beta version of SvrPowerControl

2008-11-11 Thread gharris999

pichonCalavera: Thanks for that!

Would you be willing to modify the Redhat setup script for Debian?

Here's the current redhat script:

Code:

  #!/bin/sh
  # Redhat, Fedora, CentOS, etc. setup script for the SrvrPowerCtrl plugin
  #
  echo 'Setting up SrvrPowerCtrl plugin..'

  #fixup permissions for our plugin
  chown -R squeezecenter:squeezecenter ../../.

  SCRIPT_DIR=/usr/bin

#copy the scripts into the scriptdir..
  cp ./screstart.sh $SCRIPT_DIR

  #fix permissions on the scripts..
  chmod a+x $SCRIPT_DIR/screstart.sh
  chown root:root $SCRIPT_DIR/screstart.sh

#Allow the squeezecenter user to use the 'shutdown' command..
  touch /etc/shutdown.allow
  echo 'squeezecenter' /etc/shutdown.allow

#Tell sudo that the squeezecenter user can run commands and scripts
#without being logged into a console..
  sed -i -e 's/\s*Defaults *requiretty$/#Defaultsrequiretty/' /etc/sudoers
  sed -i -e 's/\s*Defaults\t*requiretty$/#Defaultsrequiretty/' /etc/sudoers

#Tell sudo that the squeezecenter user has permissions to run these commands..
  echo '%squeezecenter ALL=NOPASSWD:/sbin/shutdown' /etc/sudoers
  echo '%squeezecenter ALL=NOPASSWD:/usr/sbin/pm-suspend' /etc/sudoers
  echo '%squeezecenter ALL=NOPASSWD:/usr/sbin/pm-hibernate' /etc/sudoers
  echo %squeezecenter ALL=NOPASSWD:$SCRIPT_DIR/screstart.sh /etc/sudoers

  echo 'Done!'

The current redhad script resides at:

/var/lib/squeezecenter/Plugins/SrvrPowerCtrl/scripts/Redhat/svrpowerctrlsetup.sh

Could you copy this svrpowerctrlsetup script and the screstart.sh to:

/var/lib/squeezecenter_trunk/Plugins/SrvrPowerCtrl/scripts/Debian/

..modifying it to match the hoops you had to jump through for debian
setup, and post the new script here?

I think this version of screstart.sh ought to work with Debian:

Code:

  #!/bin/sh
  #
  # SrvrPowerCtrl plugin helper script for debian linux.
  #
  # Copy this script to /usr/bin/screstart.sh: cp ./screstart.sh
/usr/bin/screstart.sh
  #
  #
  # Change the permissions: chown root:root /usr/bin/screstart.sh
  #
  # Make it executable: chmod a+x /usr/bin/screstart.sh
  #
  # This script will restart the SqueezeCenter service.
  #
  #
  #
  /bin/echo $0 - screstart.log /tmp/screstart.log
  /bin/date /tmp/screstart.log

  #
#Using 'at' doesn't work. 'at' requires the user to have shell privilages,
which squeezecenter doesn't
  #/bin/echo /sbin/service squeezecenter restart | /usr/bin/at -m $1
/tmp/screstart.log
  #

  /etc/rc.d/init.d/squeezecenter status /tmp/screstart.log
  /etc/rc.d/init.d/squeezecenter stop /tmp/screstart.log
  /bin/sleep 15
  /etc/rc.d/init.d/squeezecenter start /tmp/screstart.log
  /bin/sleep 15
  /etc/rc.d/init.d/squeezecenter status /tmp/screstart.log

I'd really like to make this plugin 100% debian friendly, but it's
going to be a while before I can make myself a debian server to test
with.

Any help you could give me here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Replay Gain for Squeezeslave?

2008-11-11 Thread ralphy

Try adding --oldplayer to the squeezeslave command line, that will
enable the old player type which will allow you to enable replay gain
for squeezeslave. The --volume setting needs to be set to sw
(software) which is the default unless you've changed it.

Hi eLR!C,

that is definitely a bug. I will check it out when I get home this
evening.

Before I fell in love with the SqueezeBox I developed this app to
control a musicpd linux server I had running. I grew familiar with the
web applications quirks but my guests had a hard time with it so I
created an api and converted the mpd code to control Squeezecenter.

I do plan on continued development, so feedback is appreciated.

I will keep everyone posted of updates as they become available.

Thanks,

Hi

I'm a linux newbie and need some help as I'm struggling.

I'm on Ubuntu 8.10 and as I've always been interested in streaming MP2
direct to the Squeezebox I went out and bought a Hauppauge Nova-T card
yesterday and got it working under VLC.

I have a few questions:

There is a getstream available in the Ubuntu repositories but it is a
bit older than the one you have packaged - will that be OK?

Is ps the same as ps-watcher?

Can't launch dvbserver in verbose mode - can you explain exactly how to
do that please?

I have perl installed.
I have libio-all-perl for IO::Socket is that OK?
I have MPlayer installed although I don't use it for anything else.
I have ps-watcher installed

I get the following when launching dvbserver from sudo nautilus:

Global symbol $mplayer requires explicit package name at
/home/ian/Desktop/dvbserver/dvbserver.pl line 522.
Global symbol $mplayer requires explicit package name at
/home/ian/Desktop/dvbserver/dvbserver.pl line 525.

Any ideas would be gratefully received.

as hifi as it gets in the digital domain.

Do you plan to work more on this program, or do you just plan to fix

Nice work though!
