Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: VLC Controller Plugin 2.21b

2009-01-30 Thread jagertee

I've never connected to a different machine :) Can you enable the Debug
log for the Plugin in SC Advanced Settings and check whether the Plugin
calls the proper URL? If so, it might be a Firewall issue on the target
machine. I'll do a proper test tonight.

Yes, the VLC Now Playing screen is completely detached from the
standard SC Now Playing screen. I couldn't find a way to properly hook
into the SC Now Playing screen...

Attached is version 2.22b with two minor changes:
# Added ability to launch DVD from file system (VIDEO_TS)
# Fixed Title Library mixing folders and files

[SlimDevices: Plugins] LastFM Help

2009-01-30 Thread teejayl

Hey everyone, sorry if this has been discussed, but I searched and could
not find an answer.

I just recently discovered LastFM, and think it's great. I was even
happier to find out I could listen through my SB. I've got it running
fine, however, I can't seem to be able to play my Library. I can only
find options for my Recommended and Neighbours.

Any ideas on how to only play what is in my Library?

My second question is, if I'm listening to my Recommended, will it
always automatically add it to my Library? I'd prefer to be able to add
it myself only if I hear something I really like.

Thanks!
Tyler

It's calling localhost even when set to something different in the

[14:29:28.1365] Plugins::VlcController2::VlcService::vlcRequest (101)

Plays DVD files beautifully now though (except there appears to be an
empty menu item above Play DVD menu item).

Perhaps the Now Playing screen could work through the Music Information
Screensaver...

Would also be great to get it to integrate with a database like PVD or
MySQL to navigate movies files, etc, instead of just a file structure.

Apart from the actual streaming bit this is getting really close to a
video Squeezebox - exciting!

So I am also attempting to get it running on Ubuntu (8.04) and have got
to the same place as I got stuck with Windows! Getting the 404 error. I
don't know much about Ubuntu or more to the point manually installing
Plugins, do you have any guidance?

Cheers,

Charlie

Is the messed up ness specific to your xubuntu+browser+available

Do any of the stock SqueezeCenter plugins which have settings pages

I still can't get any live streams through the iPlayer plug-in, and it's
been like that for two weeks now... no-one else seems to have this
problem so I feel it's something to do with my setup. I've reinstalled
the plug-in to no avail. It's no big deal because Listen Again works
fine and I can get all the live streams via Staff Picks, but it would
be nice to access everything from one place! If anyone can shed any
light on this I'd be grateful. Might an upgrade to 7.3 help? Thanks in

Did you figure out a way to update play counts in JRMC from the recently

batch processing yet. Also, I found that the Number Plays field
doesn't appear to be editable (you can select values from a pull down
list, but can't enter in new values.)
There is a workaround for being able to edit number of plays in JRMC. I
can't find the post in the J River forum that explains how to do it, so
hopefully I am remembering right...

Create a new expression column in whatever view you want to edit.
(Right click on the columns, choose columns add expression column.)

In the expression editor, type a name (I use Edit NP), then in the
expression field, use the pull-down menu to choose Insert Field
[Number Plays].

This new column will mirror what is in the Number Plays column, but it
is editable. So highlight all the files you want to edit, and when you
highlight, do it by clicking the cursor on the Edit NP column (or
whatever you named it). Then press F2 to edit the field. Only one item
in your selection will show the edit box, but when you type something
new and press enter, it will change all the selected files.

I am only using this to change songs that are showing empty number
plays in JRMC, so I know which of my songs have ratings that are based
on actual listens rather than my guessed rating.

Effective March 11, 2009, the online listening platform will be

I wonder if that means the XM effort will be folded into the Sirius

Been there! First off, did you actually unzip the files into
Plugins\VlcController2?

If so, is Vlc showing up under plugins in the server settings web
interface but not allowing you to access the settings for it, and also
not showing up as a seperate menu item?

Well, that's encouraging! It took me a while to make everything happen
and I'm still not really sure what did it, but...

Check the files again making sure that they haven't unzipped one
directory too deep, e.g.
Plugins/VlcController2/VlcController2/(files...)

I found that deleting the squeezecenter cache file (usually under
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SqueezeCenter)
then rebooting PC sorted things out, although it did of course trigger
a full rescan. If you don't want to do that try just deleting the files
mentioned in an early post, rebooting and seeing if that works.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Use LastFM play count data to update database?

2009-01-30 Thread wnshall

Like many users, I scrobble my listening (on SC and on various
computers) to lastfm. I got to wondering whether the playcount data
stored there could be used to update SC's database? It seems like it
might be a clever way to get around the fact that rescans clear the
database, and would also allow you to aggregate your listening from
everywhere (except portable devices.) Is this already possible today
-- maybe with Trackstat/Custom Scan or some other plugin?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Custom Browse survey, why do you use it ?

2009-01-30 Thread matthijskoopmans

A poll associated with this post was created, to vote and see the
results, please visit http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=58894

Question: Why do you use Custom Browse ?

- I need to be able to browse multiple libraries
- I need to be able to browse composers or conductors separately
- I need it to be able to filter the contents of albums, artists or
  genres menus
- I need an itermediate A-Z menu before showing artists or albums for
  a specific letter
- I need to be able to browse custom tags
- The standard browse menus can't be configured as I like them
- I need to be able to browse decades
- I need more flexible browse menus to browse classical or jazz music
- I use it because it exists but the standard browse menus works good
  enough
- Some other reason

I have been using Custom Browse since it was released (well, shortly
after :) )

If you have a large library, I found Custom Browse to be absolutely
required. Everytime I upgrade to a new squeezecenter, I wait for Custom
Browse to be released for that version...

[SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC - No Sound (SC 7.3.2 XP Pro)

2009-01-30 Thread Mat Walker

Hi All,

Sorry to bring this old chestnut up again :-), I _have_ been reading
through all the threads i can find but nothing seems to work. So i'm
not just doing a post without actually try to fix the prob, honest!

Ok. Running clean XP Pro with all the updates installed and no Windows
Media Player. SC is running just dandy with Lame and a couple of
SB2's. MP3's work nicely and wife a happy bunny.

Installed AlienBBC using the Extensions Download and all aok. Tried a
live Radio 1 stream from a SB and the old problem of no sound -
everything looks good and is working, just no sound. I tried the Test
link in AlientBBC settings and sound comes out nicely. Its just the
SB's that no sound comes out of.

I've fiddled with just about nothing - so everything is as clean as it
can be. I am Remote Desktopping to the server box, so the sound is
being piped through to the desktop host machine ok when testing (IE.
The sound isn't being piped through to the sound card on the SC host
box).

Any clues anyone - before i go wreck my settings by fiddling with thing
i shouldn't :-)

Thanks in advance (and apologies if i _have_ missed a glaringly obvious
thread somewhere!)

Mat

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC - No Sound (SC 7.3.2 XP Pro)

2009-01-30 Thread Mat Walker

Well, its Lame related! If i set Lame to 'No Limit' (which i assume
stops it being used in any processing) then the AlienBBC streams fine
and sound is heard. Any Lame setting other than No Limit stops any
sound from AlienBBC.

Now the 6 Billion Dollar question; why? Why is LAME causing the lack of
audio from SC when AlienBBC is the source? LAME works fine with all my
MP3 files (and WMA) but not AlienBBC.

Hope that helps.. I'll carry on digging tho and post any more info i
can gather.

Mat
