Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread
Ui Pippin, I will try and explain it better. I stop the music in Ipeng. The speakers go silent and no music comes out. But if I open Squeezecenter I can see that it is still playing like it just went on mute. so if I turn on Ipeng the music starts immediately without me doing anything. pippin;46 Wrote: Do you have any chance to reset the router? Do you have no internet connection at all for this network or do you connect through some other device? Actually you are not the first one to experience this but the first times I tried to investigate into it I did so with a standalone network that did not have a connection to the internet at all which worked fine so I wasn't able to reproduce it. So I know that as long as your network doesn't THINK (so to say) it could connect to the internet it will work. No, that's not misleading. I'm not completely sure it does shut down the app after 10s, that's just the limit Apple publishes. But you have to add another 6s until the app starts at all and maybe they just allow some tolerance over the spec until really shutting the app down. Looks like I've got a working fix, will try to get it out ASAP but I don't submit anything without prior beta testing anymore (bad experience, there are always these nasty side effects you don't expect) so I assume it will be at least two weeks (counting 1 week approval time on Apple's side). Sorry :-( No worries about the delay, I realise you have to test things fully before release. I'm grateful that you've tried to implement a fix already. I did a hard reset on my router and restarted. I do connect to the internet through another device on my network (directly from a pc on the network) so maybe this was causing the problem. I tried shutting down this PC and reinstalling iPeng and starting again but still no luck. Since then I have managed to get it to work!!! But only in the following scenario: I turn off the iPod and then when I turn it back on, I start iPeng immediately before the iPod has time to connect to the network. iPeng then starts fine, saying that there is no player connected. After a few seconds, the iPod successfully registers on the network and then iPeng recognises the Squeezecenter and successfully connects. Would you expect this behaviour given your explanation of the problem? Of course, if I close iPeng and restart it, it doesn't work. I have to turn off the iPod and repeat the procedure above to make it work and sometimes, I can't start iPeng quickly enough to beat the network connection. Anyway, if you are sure that my problem is as you say, I'll happily wait for the update and use this workaround for the timebeing. BTW, having now been able to use the app, I have a smile on my face. Nice work. -- jimmyb jimmyb's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=25816 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51929 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Would you expect this behaviour given your explanation of the problem? Yes, that fits. Since you can't change your network configuration, iPeng only tests it upon startup (and on some connection errors). So when the network comes up while you are connected, you are fine, but only if the server discovery works, manually configured servers will not work. Got another workaround for you: cove the antenna on the iPod with some aluminum foil when waking it up, so you don't have to restart it. Has to have been at sleep for a minute, though. Triode, It looks like you've solved the problem. I just listened to a 2 hour show with no break. I didn't even notice the audio glitch you mentioned. Thank you for all your efforts. I, too, am using MusicInfoSCR and it always shows 0:00 as the total length (I think this is known as SONGTIME) for listen again streams. It corrects itself if you rewind or fast forward or if the stream scrolls round back to the beginning or if you listen to something more than once. [SlimDevices: Plugins] Dynamic Playlist/Random Locks Player and Server
I've been running into an issue for a while now with the Dynamic Playlist plugin when playing random songs. The playlist works fine unless/until I press any button (pause, skip, etc.) on the remote. When I do this the player immediately locks up and becomes unresponsive to any further remote key presses. As soon as I press the button on the remote the squeezecenter process jumps to the top of the stack as far as using resources on my server. If I act quickly enough I am able to stop the service on the server. However, if I wait a bit the process continues to eat up resources to the point where I can't do anything on the server. I have to power the system off with the power button in order to shut it down. I'm currently running version 7.3.3 of SC under Fedora 10, but as I said the issue has been happening for a while, probably going back to 7.3 or 7.3.1. I'm using the Extension Dowloader, so I've been staying current Dynamic Playlist plugin. This issue happens with both a SB3 and Boom. I've found that I can control the playlist using the web client, but that isn't always convenient. I've tried setting the logging to Debug on several levels, but I'm really not seeing much of interest in the server log when this problem occurs. The only thing I consistently see is the following: Code: [09-05-11 17:54:43.4345] Slim::Utils::Misc::msg (1139) Warning: [17:54:43.4335] Deep recursion on subroutine Slim::Hardware::IR::executeButton at /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/Slim/Buttons/Input/Choice.pm line 285.
