Sorted.. i just didnt have wake on lan enabled which allowed me to wake
squeezecenter(server) from squeezenetwork, all i had to do is scroll to
connect to squeezecenter then press power on button whilst trying to
connect to squeezecenter and it woke the server from shutdown/hibernate
mode...if that makes sense!! My squeezebox is now the complete package.

Thanks for all your help wirrunna. and thanks to gharris999 for the

Sadly not, the new 7.4 nightlies wont work with Moose's library scanning
functions.. I'm looking into a way round the issues, but it's not likely to
be a simple weekend fix..

Be careful if you've got recent nightlies too as they download and offer to

To be honest, I don't know if it can run on Windows 9x, W2k, NT or

the other hand I don't think I used any specially arcane features of the
earlier O/S's, so it might work anyway. (Try it and see...)

[SlimDevices: Plugins] SlimNAS - won't create the correct table entries

2009-05-15 Thread mheppner

First of all, thank you Michael, for responding to my email.

I keep getting a strange message in my maintenance log for SlimNAS. The
SlimNAS service will never start, no matter what version of
SqueezeCenter I use. I have the i386 version of FreeNAS fully installed
on a partitioned hard drive. The OS partition is about a gig, so there
is plenty of space.

I keep getting the same repeated errors in the logs:

[09-05-14 15:46:39.3698] Slim::Schema::init (154) Warning: Creating new
database - empty database or database from 6.3.x found
[09-05-14 15:46:39.4567] DBIx::Migration::migrate (115) Warning:
Database error: Table 'slimserver.metainformation' doesn't exist at
/mnt/RAID5/SlimNAS/squeezecenter/CPAN/DBIx/Migration.pm line 115.

Obviously, there is a problem creating or replacing a database. Bad
permissions, perhaps? I think it's a permissions problem because if I
remove the integration of SlimNAS from FreeNAS, I still cannot manually
delete the folder containing the SlimNAS stuff. When I delete it through
Windows via SAMBA, it keeps discovering new items and repeatedly
deleting them. I have left it go for an hour, but it still deletes
stuff. I know the folder is not that big, maybe a few megabytes, which
should only take a few seconds to delete. When I delete through
FileZilla via FTP, it says permission denied. When I delete through the
File Manager via the FreeNAS GUI, it says no such directory.

Should I just try reinstalling everything into a new SlimNAS directory,
or is this fixable?

No, they seem to still be there but just not used.

(Ie, sc doesn't know how to migrate them, but it also doesn't delete
them, at least on my setup with a standalone mysql instead of the
'integrated' one.)

If I understand Andy right it won't delete them on the migration, it
just won't move them.

I haven't tried it myself yet so I'm not completely sure how it works.

If you have a recent TrackStat backup you haven't lost anything because
then you will always be able to restore the statistics as soon as
TrackStat has been updated to work with latest 7.4 release.

If you don't have a recent TrackStat backup you might have lost the
history, but the current ratings should be there since these are stored
in the standard SqueezeCenter database tables besides the TrackStat
tables. In this case I would take a backup of the current Cache
directory to make sure you can get them back in case SqueezeCenter for
some reason decides to discard the database due to bugs.

For users that haven't done so already it's really recommended that you
configure TrackStat to do daily backups.

No, but it includes a simple way to install it, as does the latest
7.3.3 beta. Unless you like running unstable software I suggest using
the latest 7.3.3 nightly release. You can then install iplayer from the

FileZilla via FTP, it says permission denied. When I delete through the

That's very odd... before you can delete the folder, you'll have to
disable SlimNAS and reboot the machine, as otherwise some files might

For the last few weeks, I have not been able to get Radio 3's Thursday
edition of Late Junction to work via this plugin. It just sits there and
nothing happens. Tuesday and Wednesday are fine. Also, Thursday's
edition is OK via the BBC iplayer. I checked Alien BBC and it was the

Therefore, unless anyone has a differing view, I suspect the problem is
at the BBC end - all I ask please, does anyone have a contact at the BBC
so that I can get it checked out?

Thanks.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] SlimNAS - won't create the correct table entries

2009-05-15 Thread mheppner

Yes, it is incredibly odd. Does that error mean is it within the
SqueezeCenter?

I am using the versions you have linked to on your tutorial, so
SqueezeCenter 7.3.2 and your SlimNAS 1.3.0.

I just tried it again, to uninstall and remove. I disabled the
integration from my FreeNAS and tried to delete. In FileZilla, it looked
like it deleted everything because it does the thing where it sort of
combs through each folder. However, it got stuck on a folder called
MLSD or something and kept trying to reconnect. I just disconnected
and reconnected, only to discover the entire SlimNAS folder was still
there. In the FreeNAS web GUI, I tried to delete the folder...this is
the error I got with that:

ERROR(S):
lib: Unable to read directory.

The only two folders left in the SlimNAS folder (the one where I
installed to) are squeezecenter and usr. The lib error happens
when I try to delete the usr directory. When I try to delete the
squeezecenter folder, it comes back with an error that it is unable to
read the directory. It has the same error when I simply try to open it.
Is this a hardware problem, on my HDD?

I'm going to try to fresh install, into a completely different folder.
I'll let you know how that goes, but I would still like to be able to
delete the old files. Any ideas?
