Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: WaveInput for Linux
I installed the WaveInput plugin using the Extension Downloader plugin, and am using a custom-convert.conf set to ecasound. (although the same issue exists using the arecord setup.) The sound level is very low, but it is working correctly otherwise. ecasound is running like so: Code: /usr/bin/ecasound -q -z:db -b:4096 -f:16,2,44100 -i:alsa,default -o stdout I've fiddled with alsamixer, and the various capture levels look ok. If I increase the capture level the levels are better, but very clearly something is wrong. The sound is all distorted and tinny--it's obvious the source signal is somehow too low, and the only way to get an acceptable volume level is to set the gain *way* above 0dB. Any ideas where to look? I'm testing this by playing an mp3 directly on the system, but also using Airfoil Speakers and a remote audio source. They both have the same issue. I'm tempted to try the snd-aloop driver to eliminate any hardware issues. -- uberjay uberjay's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=31182 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49584 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] WikiRadio dumped!
Wikiradio has not been dumped, but it has been used less with recent versions of the server. All existing wikiradio lists are still at: http://wikiradio.slimdevices.com/ This is parsed by the latest version of AlienBBC which makes this list available to you. There used to be a plugin called MyPicks which allowed automatic update of this site, but this is longer supported. If you want to publish more radio stations then you can by attaching opml files to the site above. I would note that the not many of the opml files on the wikiradio site have been maintained recently and this is really the reason why wikiradio as fallen out of favor. If you want to champion it - it would be very useful to have someone to review and clean up all of the station lists on the above site. This would then make it more useful to the community. -- Triode Triode's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=64656 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] SqueezeControl for Android announcement and support thread
Hi, awesome work! I really like this app. There are some things that would be nice to have: - to be able to rearrange the playlist - an info activity for the songs, where composer, bit rate and so on are displayed (basically the same information, one can get when clicking on the song on the squeezecenter web-control) - an activity that does the same thing for the albums (like playtime, date of release, songs) - link the two activities to the artist/album information in the play screen and also on a long press menu in the music library - when the Artist is selected in the play screen, open a browser searching for that artist on wikipedia - saving the current playlist as a new playlist and some bugs: - Sometimes the album picture does not get updated on the play screen: When I have songs in my playlist, some belonging to album a, and the other ones belonging to album b, I see the picture of album a eventhough a song from album b is played, and vice versa - When I open the music library some pictures of albums are not displayed eventhogh a picture is linked and will be shown on the play screen or appear when I rotate the phone. - Sometimes the play button shows the play symbol eventhough music is playing. Klicking once would not do anything but change the symbol to pause. After that the buttons acts the way its supposed to and also shows the right symbol. Huh. That's surprising. While SCPowerTool.exe does write to the system events log, it doesn't touch the SC server.log. I wouldn't have expected this and it makes me wonder if SqueezeCenter isn't formally closing the log file and is depending on the OS to close it once it sees that the SC process has terminated. Perhpas this could be solved by using StartHidden.exe to execute SCPowerTool. By necessity, I'm using StartHidden to launch SCPowerTool as a fully detached process for the "Restart SqueezeCenter" action on SC 7.3.x. Perhaps I ought to do this for every invocation of SCPowerTool. I'll try to do some tests on this before the next "release". Thanks for pointing this out. Also, there ought to be an easier way to kill instances of SCPowerTool without having to resort to the task manager. Perhaps a "--cancel-wakeup" parameter which would have the effect of killing any instances that have pending wakeup timers. I have a feeling that this is easier said than done in via actual code, thoughespecially since, as now written, SCPowerTool doesn't have a real message loop. Anyway...this sort of problem just points out how weirdly the whole system wakeup issue is handled by windows, as compared to linux and osx. With the latter OSs, the kernel supplies a driver that completely abstracts the programming of the bios rtc wake alarm. With these, after a simple call, the system will wake itself from any power state, including stone cold off. With windows, afaik there is no way to directly program that rtc wake alarm. Wakeup on windows is really a side effect of asking the OS to service a timer in a dormant process that's hanging around in the background waiting for that call...and nothing else...and, oh yes, please wake the system up if you need to to get this done, Mr. windows kernel. I think of myself as being more adept at writing C code for windows that at writing bash scripts. But this is one area where windows seems really primitive. It seems strange to me that windows fails offer what seems like such a basic facility. Maybe I should rethink this whole approach and instead of using waitable timers to do this, try programming the system task scheduler instead. -- gharris999 gharris999's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=115 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=48521 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Beta version of SvrPowerControl
Hi Gordon, I finally got around to configuring everything and it is working fine. It somehow slipped my attention that you recommended to delete the old preferences file before installing the new version, so I didn't. Still, everything seems to be okay. Is there a reason why it should not? There is one little problem with the settings dialog, though, which is probably due to the way Perl handles string variables. I was thinking about a way to avoid having to tell people to copy my VB script to the system32 directory and ended up trying to use the %USERPROFILE% environment variable which points to the user's settings directory. In order to pass the variable to the cmd executable unharmed, it has to be enclosed in double quotes. The actions I am currently using all look like this: Code: cmd /C cscript "%USERPROFILE%\ConfigureLO.vbs" /Action:busy /Log:true This setting is not properly loaded back into your settings dialog but cut off at the quotes: Code: cmd /C cscript So the next time I save the settings, the actions will be broken. While I am writing that everything is fine, I notice that this is actually not quite true. While I am playing music and SPC keeps telling LightsOut to leave the server alone, it now and then sends a hibernate action for no apparent reason. [SlimDevices: Plugins] Lazy Search: special characters
Hi all! Using the awesome Lazy Search extension, I experience one drawback: If the album title that I'm looking for contains parentheses, e.g. "An Album (Really A Nice One)", lazy searching for "really" doesn't turn up this album. On the other hand, a normal search for "really" yields the desired album title. I just found the "Search Within Words" setting in the "Music Library" tab in SqueezeCenter's settings. Apparently, Lazy Search treats the starting parenthesis as part of the word. Any hints, anything I overlooked? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Spotify
surely it should be possible to write a squeezebox audio driver for libdespotify and then write a client for squeezecenter. Has anyone tried this approach yet? would be keen to collaborate if there is anyone. yes i know it will be for paying spotify customers only, but really 10 euros a month for as much music as you can listen too..? -- gppp gppp's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=31160 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=58013 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Thanks, that did the trick, albeit I'd think that SugarCube should do this automatically when it is enabled and reverse it when disabled. If you're not using SugarCube it's very likely you're listening to an album. In any event, it would be great if SugarCube could ascertain and save the status of the setting prior to it being invoked, change it if required, and then return it to whatever it was set to when SucarCube is disabled. Got to be said though, SugarCube is fantastic...it makes MiP what it should have been all along. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spicefly SugarCube (Automatic MusicIP DJ)
Thx Wirrunna, I'm running that BETA, just hadn't looked into the pause features. On another note, are you able to explain what one is suppoed to do to have SugarCube kickoff a perpetual mix. If I navigate to a song and initiate playback via either the IR remote or via iPeng/iPod SC plays back the track and remaining tracks on the album. It seems when the album is completed SugarCube takes over. The only way I've found to kick things off immediately is to clear the playlist, then add the seed song to the playlist and press play. Is this how it's supposed to work or am I missing a trick...I assumed that as long as SugarCube is enabled it will initiate its playback using whatever song you choose to play, regardless of what's in the playlist when you press play. I also assumed that the only way to stop SugarCube controlling your playlist is to turn it off via the remote. I presume my assumptions are wrong? -- egd Internet forums: conclusive proof depth of gene pool is indeed variable, monkeys can be taught to cut code, and world peace is utterly unrealistic... Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread
i just picked up a new 3gs for myself and the wife on friday, and got around to installing ipeng on saturday. i hadnt even bothered to read any faq or instructions yet and the damn thing was operating on me almost by itself before i could even figure out what had happened, it was that easy. i cant even tell if its set up properly, but other than trying to figure out how to consistently queue playback for what i want, it appears to be simple enough. and i have nothing to compare against, except for forum comments here, but iphone 3.0 on 3gs kicks ass. -- fillmore fillmore's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=23178 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51929 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
