Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] SuperDateTime Screensaver Issues with Boom

2010-01-09 Thread Letten

I don't have any direct answers to Your questions. But when I setup
SuperDateTime I found a few tips using the forum search.

But first, keep in mind that SuperDateTime was created for
SB3/Classic/transporter which has larger displays than the Boom.

I avoid using Icon and Line 3, here's the setup I use on my Boom:

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: New versions of erlands plugins

2010-01-09 Thread vagskal

I give up.

I did not want to use my master SBS installation for the testing
because a wipe and rescan takes 6-8 hrs and a CustomScan a couple of
hours so I downloaded and installed a new copy of SBS and your plugins
on another PC (same version 7.4.2 r29707 on both machines running Win
XP). I configured SBS the same on both machines (Show year with album
activated, same settings under My music etc.). In the CustomScan module
Custom Tag I also made the same settings with only two exceptions: I
checked the option Include in automatic scans and Scan All and I
checked the Use raw MP3 tags option; under Various settings in
CustomScan I had Yes for the two refresh options and the automatic
rescan option (those options were set to No on the master installation).
I then did a wipe and rescan and for good measures also a manual Custom
Tag scan in CustomScan. The library consisted of a small set of
files/albums I had just copied from my master library and changed the
album names on (to descriptive names as regards the tags, i.e. MP3 VA
TYER TORY etc).

The result: For MP3 ID3v2.3 SBS only scanned the TYER tag! (As you
remember, in my master installation SBS scanned both TORY and TYER but
gave precedence to TORY over TYER.)

Just to make sure that CustomScan did not in any way interfere with the
regular SBS scan I uninstalled CustomScan, using the SBS plugin
installer, and then after a restart of SBS did a wipe and rescan of the
music library. The result was the same.

I have no idea why the behaviour is different on the two installations.
Unless someone can come up with an explanation, I give up the project.
The chances of me getting a stable solution seems slim at best.

If I only could get the title format to show the custom tag I would be
sufficiently happy for now.

Thank you, Erland, for all your support and patience! I do hope you
continue developing.

Strange, feels like a bug in Squeezebox Server if the same version
behaves differently on different machines.

Are you sure the tags are the same so they doesn't contain multiple ID3
tag versions that might have been accidentally added when you changed
the album name ?

Is there any way you can see how an exact copy of a file from your
master library behaves in the new test installation of SBS you have
setup ?

Now that is strange. If I just copy the files I get the same behaviour

what is going on.

I will email you the files, if you should have the time to see what the

2010-01-09 Thread erland

vagskal;504523 Wrote:

I will email you the files, if you should have the time to see what the

Ok, this is how it looks like when I look at them with my tools:

Standard SBS

The original file:
- TORY: 1899 (Visible in SBS 7.5 as TDOR, scanned into YEAR in SBS)
- TYER: 1998 (Visible in SBS 7.5 as TDRC)

The copy:
- TXXX (ORIGINAL RELEASE DATE): 1899 (Visible in SBS 7.5 as ORIGINAL
RELEASE DATE)
- TYER: 1998 (Visible in SBS 7.5 as TDRC, scanned into YEAR in SBS)

Custom Scan behaves like this:
==
The original file (without Raw mode):
- YEAR: 1899

The original file (with Raw mode):
- ORIGYEAR: 1899
- YEAR: 1899

The copy (with or without Raw mode)
- YEAR: 1998
- ORIGINAL RELEASE DATE: 1899

Further analysis:
=
I think the tag editing software you used to create the copy isn't
properly supporting TORY tags, the result is that it writes it to the
file as a TXXX tags with the name ORIGINAL RELEASE DATE. Due to this
SBS handles them differently.

Possible solutions as I see it:
Solution 1:
Patch Custom Scan (Modules/CustomTag.pm), change the rawTagNames
mapping table in the beginning of the file so TYER = YEAR is changed to
TYER = TYER. The result of this should be that you with raw checkbox
enabled should for the original file get:
- YEAR: 1899 (which you can ignore)
- TYER: 1998
- ORIGYEAR: 1899
After this you should be able to map TYER and ORIGYEAR as you like with
the tag mapping attribute.

Solution 2:
Retag the files with T tags which you can then configure to use in
Custom Scan. I wouldn't rely on that the tagging software writes a T
(ORIGINAL RELEASE DATE) tag, select a different name instead that will
work in all tagging softwares.

Solution 3:
Give up

Michael

Thanks for your fast help. Indeed I did not copy the MHCPAN modules. As
far as I remember this was not necessary with older Synology
Squeezecenter packages to run your plugin.

What I did to make your plugin runable was the following:

1. Copy the MHCPAN folder from your webpage to
/volume1/@appstore/SqueezeCenter/Plugins
2. Restart Squeezecenter

Then it worked fine.
Thanks for this tip and your awesome swiss meteo plugin app :-)

Cheers,

I know I should be searching the thread, I'm lazy.

What can be done to have the plugin work on the Boom ?
Is it a matter of packing smaller icons as custom characters ?
Of adding player type detection (to use the big icons on SB3s) ?
What about the asyncHTTP thing ?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: New versions of erlands plugins

2010-01-09 Thread vagskal

Thank you so much for your help Erland!

The issue with the tags was due to a misconfiguration of MP3Tag's new
tag mapping feature
(http://forums.mp3tag.de/index.php?showtopic=9646hl=tag%20mappingst=15).
The issue has or could have affected at least 3 different tags.

I will definitely choose solution no. 2 as regards the retaggning,
after fixing configuring MP3Tag properly. That will take some time just
to load all files into MP3Tag and changing them and then to do a backup
and subsequent wipe and rescan in SBS. If I have some time and energy
left after that I will continue with configuring CustomScan using your
hints.

Once again thanks for your help. You prevented me from destroying more
of the tags by discovering the recent misconfiguration.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Inguz measurement: will phantom power hurt the transporter?

2010-01-09 Thread ianr

Hi,

Finally taking the plunge to play with room correction. I have a
calibrated mic, cables and an Edirol UA25-EX. The problem is, the Edirol
has two XLR inputs (the only analogue ones) and the switch for phantom
power covers both. Therefore, when I want to take a measurement in order
to power the mic, I need phantom power on, but that means that +48VDC
will be sent to the output of the transporter.

My question is, will this damage the transporter? If I need to but a
separate pre-amp I'll probably just return the edirol and find something
else that has the ability to switch phantom per channel (and
suggestions?!)

thanks very much,
I.

Have shuffle off
Go to Napster, Go to My Playlists, play playlist
Turn on shuffle from Squeezebox Settings

It's quite frustrating obviously with large playlists as I have a
Brock Heavy list that has about 200 songs in it. And it basically
starts on the same song and plays the same order EVERY time! And since
I put albums in, it tends to play one whole album, then another whole
album. This isn't a problem when using my Napster client on the PC as
it has a 'shuffle' button, but with Squeezebox, notta :(

a way to start LazySearch with the search button even in SBS 7.5?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2010-01-09 Thread pippin

It's how it is.
The indicator as it is done in iPeng doesn't work with this view
because you have to be able to click into the table to be able to remove
the keyboard.

Could you file a ticket, search needs work for 1.3 anyway.

This is using the Squeezebox Duet controller.

I have not tried with iPeng, I can try that shortly though.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Beta version of SvrPowerControl

2010-01-09 Thread mvordeme

I am not sure how many people are interested in this at all, but alas
...

It looks like (the trial and licensed versions of) 'Lights Out 1.0'
(http://addins.home-server-blog.de/verwaltung/lightsout/#en) for Windows
Home Server can now monitor various sources to keep the server from
hibernating. The easiest way to integrate Lights Out is to create a file
when you want the server to stay awake and to remove that file when the
server may hibernate or shut down. This can be done conveniently by
configuring the required commands directly in the Server Power Control
settings.

I am going to install the new Lights Out and run a few tests, and then
I'll post the commands.

Works with iPeng. iPeng gives an option at the top of the playlist
titled Play songs shuffled (or something like that, it is downstairs
now).

Shuffle still does not work with the Duet controller

Yes, that's what I see, too. Also, you can turn shuffle on/off on the
NowPlaying overlay (tap big cover on NowPlaying).
However, when you turn shuffle OFF, I get some weird behavior. Try it.

The fact that it does NOT work on the controller AND not on the web
interface but it DOES on iPeng makes me believe that it's purposely
disabled in those native interfaces and iPeng just doesn't care...

May I also ask you what tool you use for Win to display as accurately
as possible the exact tags in MP3 files (showing inter alia what is a
defined frame, TYER etc., and what is a TXXX frame with a name)?

 Thanks for your patience.

I used id3v2 on Linux.
I'm guessing it should be possible to see it with foobar2000 or Mp3Tag
on Windows but I'm not completely sure.

If you would see the tags exactly in Windows, you can use an good
text-editor as
Notepad++.http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/nl/site.htm
Just open the music-file with this editor.
Mp3Tag and Foobar2000 are using standard mapping names.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Mobile/Cell Phone Streaming Application

2010-01-09 Thread Frommerchicken

I don't want to control my squeezebox with my phone, even though I know
I can do that.

I want to use my phone as a squeezebox, so I can play music from my
phone streaming music from my already present SqueezeCentre. It would be
nice to access my library in a similar functionality as my Squeezebox.

So effectivly my phone would be a virtual Squeezebox...

My phone has wi-fi and symbian etc...
