uname is the name of the operating system running the realplayer.sh
such as Linux but in the case of OSX uname should be Darwin.

There are three main possibilities why realplayer.sh is not working
1. Cannot find mplayer
2. Security - Permissions or ownership is preventing mplayer running.
3. mplayer for some reason won't run on your system (e.g. missing
library).

To test 3 try the following in a Terminal window- it should produce a
short help. If it is does produce a help file please copy the error
message to a post as it may indicate the problem.

I believe this command has the file path you indicated in your post -
if not change it to your path. Please not the quotation marks as they
are necessary because of the space in the path name.

"/Applications/MPlayer
OSX.app/Contents/Resources/External_Binaries/mplayer.app/Contents/MacOS/mplayer"

Yes I have (I have a DS410j too) and it doesn't work. Haven't yet tried
the spotifyd-alt route yet.
Everything installs fine, the helper app just doesn't start - nothing
in the log at all, either.

Tried it on my win 7 PC (64-bit) though and that works a like a charm.
Excellent work Triode. Keep it up!

I think DS410j has an ARM processor which is not supported by the

The funny thing is that I have one album with artist, and it almost
always get selected..? Antoher thing. It seems that there is a pattern
in the selection. If you random tracks then stops random again. Then
often the same albums show up. Also some of the Artists that I have a
lot of albums by, then it is often the same one that gets selected??

No problems. Just glad to help. :)

Just to be clear: I still haven't tested playing music from Spotify on
my SqueezeBox since im away on vacation and only could test getting
spotifyd running (first through a ssh terminal and then through the
SqueezeServer). There might still be something that hickups (when the
player tries to read the stream) that we'll have to sort out. If you
get it working please let us know.

Another tip is maybee also to disable automatic updates of the plugin.
An update of the plugin seemed to clear the directory and removed the
symlink and the alternative spotifyd.

That is correct - WMA decoders are proprietary and are not included in
"software"players.

If your SBS is based on Windows then WMA files/ streams will be
transcoded by SBS. If you are using Linux or OSX then the PlayWMA
plugin will enable transcoding but only if mplayer is supported on your
SBS platform.

The Squeezeplayer is almost a 100% copy of the standard firmware and
for example the SB Radio is playing WMA without any problems, hence a
WMA decoder is required and must be part of the firmware!?

The Lua code of Squeezeplay is shared between builds for hardware and
software players - but the 3rd party decoders (which arfe not written
in Lua) which are licensed by Logitech for hardware players are not
part of the Squeezeplay builds for non Logitech players.

O, that will be the next thing I will try (the iPhone

I think I have tried both without success. The helper app briefly

[SlimDevices: Plugins] SBS Plugin for Promise NS4600?

2010-07-15 Thread edr

Hi All,

I was wondering if there is a SBS plug-in that I could use on my
Promise NS4600 NAS. The specs say that it can run Logitech
Squeezecenter,
http://www.promise.com/storage/raid_series.aspx?region=en-global&m=19&rsn1=3&rsn3=7
but the Promise site doesn't offer it as a download nor tells me where I
can get it. The NS4600 came with DLNA, BT, Firefly Media and MYSQL
server plug-ins but not with a Squeeze Center plug-in. Although there
is an icon for Squeeze Center, it is not selectable.

Is this a plug-in I can get directly from Logitech? If so, where?

Thanks!
Ed

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] SuperDateTime stopped working ?

2010-07-15 Thread sys_spud

This is starting to look like the outage in January. I have updated to
the latest available SuperDateTime and Squeezebox Server, restarted
several times and still not getting weather info from weather.com.
First symptoms were the same as last outage - stale temp/weather data
on screen for about 24 hours, then missing all weather info.

Perhaps weather.com changed their format again?

Thanks for any help.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)

2010-07-15 Thread rectorydp

First - thank you Triode for creating this plugin. It is a fantastic
addition.

Unfortunately I seem to have a problem with my installation.

Everything appears to be ok except that it doesn't actually play! The
tracks display on the SB3. I can move backwards and forwards in
playlist etc.

I cannot find the log file for the helper app. It is not in the same
folder as server.log and if I open it from the plugins page it displays
an empty screen.

If I run spotifyd from the command line (set to debug) I get the
following. It appears that there is a problem with the player but it is
an SB3 with firmware 130.
I have just upgraded to Squeezebox Server 7.5.1 - r30836 for this
plugin. It is running on WHS PP3.

I have temporarily set the bit rate to 160 and dropped the firewall.

Netstat shows spotifyd listening on port 9001.

Any suggestions - please...

Yes, weather.com changed their HTML again today.

I wish I'd find the time to rework SDT to use wunderground, as they
have a nicely documented XML feeds with reasonable terms of use:

Wunderground is working for me even though weather.com stopped working.
In the plugins tab under SuperDateTime settings you have to enter a
weather wunderground station. Then you have to configure the Player
tab settings for SuperDateTime to use one of the format strings listed
under the wunderground.com column (third column of format strings).
