Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] cannot play rtmp stream with BBCiplayer

2011-09-04 Thread bpa

This is a weird non standard stream and is not online now. This may be a
non standard stream to avoid fees or as an alternative to using Flash
for Apple iPhone/iPad users.

Given that versions of VLC on different OS can/cannot play it, I don't
think it is worth the effort to use it as it will probably need a
custom build of mplayer to ensure the right options are included (e.g.
there are RTSP protocol variants).

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SqueezeScrobbler 1.0 for SqueezeCenter 7.0

2011-09-04 Thread Defiler

Is there a way to get SlimScrobbler to report the tracks it is playing
via lastfm radio for me?
For example, my 'neighborhood' station or that of another user.
They don't appear in the 'remember recent tracks' list if I enable
that, and they don't scrobble.

Here's an example of it ignoring a remote track despite knowing
everything about it:

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SqueezeScrobbler 1.0 for SqueezeCenter 7.0

2011-09-04 Thread Mnyb

LastFM has a rather silly deal with Logitech .

For some reasons only lastFm can answer, you are able to be a paid
subscriber almost anywhere and use your PC for premium content.

But Your are only allowed access via squeezeboxes/mysqueezebox.com in a
few countries in Europe it is UK;DE;FR ant that's it .

Why LastFM has such limitations is not easy to understand, of-course
money and "rights" issues etc is involved as usual.
There is a level above this we have little insight in LastFM's owners
and in the end the record companies and other media groups they buy
their content from is involved and their interest in these markets , it
might not even in be in LastFM own interest to have this situation .

But I bet that they really want people to spend time online on their
site and community to be exposed to ads or more subtle marketing.

Way back you got away by having the "wrong" country selected in your
mysb.com settings now they use geo-ip .

So a combination of a proxy that makes you "apear" in US or UK and the
"wrong" country settings in mysb.com ? migth do it .

Or a simple solution the wave input plugin that lets your stream the PC
output to squeezeboxserver and thus forward it to your players .
So you be using thier desktop app

[SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC with squeezeslave on linux

2011-09-04 Thread meltsheep

I can play regular flacs with squeezeserver/slave on ubuntu through my
DAC.

But I am struggling to get AlienBBC working. I'm assuming its a
transcoding issue. I've got flac and lame installed.

Does anyone have a convert.conf that works for this setup ?

Thanks.

Any reason why you are using AlienBBC - the BBCiPlayer plugin has
replaced this for all BBC streams.

Was very impressed actually, first track I picked was REM obscure
acoustic track and it instantly followed it with an obscure acoustic
Beck track from Sea Changes! Going to have some fun with this one!

How would you like the Dutch translations (would like to focus first on
the end user strings in the player)?

I could either add translations inline in the strings.txt file
(prefixed by NL I suppose)

OR

I could make a new strings.txt file. Probably, the latter option would
be more scalable (can be maintained by independent localizers).

Managed to sort it. Was that the faad and flac shipped in the package I
installed were 32bit.

So either create symlinks eg to link the the x86_64 binaries

ln -s /usr/bin/flac /usr/share/squeezeboxserver/Bin/i386-linux/flac

or

sudo aptitude install ia32-libs

which I presume are 32bit compat libraries

I hope this is not in a FAQ!

You must use the SBS supplied faad and flac using ia32-libs as they have
patches to provide necessary SBS functionality such as ffw/rew in MP4
files.

If you use standard 64 bit faad and flac you may get odd problems.

Confused.

Does the current version of iPeng include playback by default or is it
still an additional cost item? The reason for the confusion is the
reference to playback being a £2.99 add-on but a search of the iTunes

The strings.txt format is designed to support multiple languages each
prefixed by its own 2 character code. Note that you must use tabs not
spaces as the separation characters between country code and string -
see the main server strings.txt file for how this works with multiple
languages. You should edit the file and then start the server to check
it works ok.

Happy to accept edited files posted back here with translations, I can
then merge them into the one shipped.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Album Review & Biography - Display Issue Everything Except Web UI

2011-09-04 Thread yannyb

I've seen a few threads covering issues in a similar vein to this but
not one exactly the same and the solutions haven't helped me out so
apologies if this is a duplicate but I'm now stuck!

I've got Album Review & Biography working fine on the Web UI, properly
formatted etc but when I use them on any form of controller, be it the
Duet Controller, SB Radio, iPeng, iPeng HD or Squeezepod the display is
what I'd consider raw html so it is pretty unreadable.

There are pics below but here is a text sample:

I am running SB server v 7.5.1 on a Mac Mini with OSX 10.6.8 installed.
Everything has been working well for me so I've never wanted to rock
the boat by updating to 7.6.x.

Album Review and Biography are versions 2.9.5 and 2.9.4 respectively.

I did have MHCPAN downloaded and in the plugins folder as follows:

/Users/ryan_young/Library/Application
Support/Squeezebox/Plugins/MHCPAN

This has a folders underneath it called 'auto' and 'HTML' and then
various parts underneath them. Having done some investigation it
sounds like this isn't necessary anymore as it is included in the
server files by default so I tried deleting it in case it was causing
problems but the same issue remains.

I've tried clearing caches, restarts of the Mac Mini & Server but no
luck.
It is also the same with all albums I have tried.

Can anyone help with resolving this?

Thanks in advance.

erland,

just updated to 7.6.1 and now i don't have the trackstat icon in my
browser. i use the default squeezecenter webpage setting and I'm using
firefox 7.0 on osx 10.6.6.

i also don't have custom scan anymore but it looks like you're in the
midst of rebuilding that plugin to be 7.6.x compatible.

My Squeezebox Server 7.5.5 is still showing as running the v1.0.0
Classic FM plugin. I know that automatic updates of plugins is on and
working because the BBC iPlayer plugin updates when I reboot the
server. So why isn't the Classic FM plugin updating? I removed mrw's
extra repository, I'm only using the standard repositories ie. no extra
ones added.

The "TS" icon is hidden behind the "M" icon in 7.6.x, Logitech has
removed the possibility to add mixer icons directly beside the items
they are instead put inside the "More" menu which you reach by hitting
the "M" icon.

Let me know if this doesn't work with latest TrackStat version.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Custom browse menus stopping playback

2011-09-04 Thread PasTim

I did a couple of experiments with the CB menu items based on custom
scan data and similar to 'works for composer' listed in a previous
post.

Right after a full Custom Scan rescan they are all quick, memory usage
around 290M.

When I restarted the next day, the memory usage of the server was much
lower (around 186M). The first run of each menu based on Custom Scan
took a minute or two. Once run, the menu is quick again. Having run
most of my menu items memory usage was up again to around 218M.

Later that day, after several hibernate/restarts, memory before
hibernating was 183M, and after restart was 152M. Menus based on
custom scan data were, once again, slow, although not as slow as after
a full shutdown and restart. Memory usage rose to over 155M after
running each menu.

I have now (today) had to turn off all auto rescan and refresh features
of custom scan since they made my PC's performance become very erratic.
I'm still a bit unclear what 'refresh' does (as opposed to rescan), but
turning it off seems to help general performance.

One hypothesis is that hibernating and restarting a PC loses some form
of in-memory cache of SQLite data for menus based on custom scan data,
which did not seem to happen in SB 7.5.n based on Mysql. However, I
have to say the marginal increase in memory usage after my last
hibernate/restart did not seem that large.

For info:

persist.db is 238MB, persist.db-shm is 32K and persist.db-wal is 86K.
library.db is 34MB, library.db-shm is 32K and library.db-wal is 430K.

In persist.db, my customscan_track_attributes has 257K rows
(customscan_album.. & ..contributor are empty). I could extract other
data if useful, or get some extra log data.

I never had performance issues with menus on mysql, but I did have some
issues with the scanning time. 7.6.1 is much quicker scanning, both SB
basic and Custom Scan, which is a great improvement.

And to reiterate the problem of this thread, when a CB menu based on
custom scan is slow, it can be so slow that the Touch loses contact
with the server and any track playing stops (not straight away, but
after 30 seconds to a minute or so).

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)

2011-09-04 Thread matabb

I have a an SB3, and the plug in definitely allows me to log on to
Spotify, but I can't get anything to play. I can see my playlists, and
view the individual tracks, but when I try to play a playlist or a
track, the title of the track displays for about 5 seconds with a
message saying "connecting", the then the SB display says "Stopped",
and nothing more happens. If I press play again, the same process
occurs again. The same thing happens if I use the Spotify search
function (which seems to work perfectly) and then select a track, or if
I try to use Radio.

The log of my latest attempt to connect (and after I switched the log
to debug) follows. During this session I tried to play a playlist,
then after that failed, attempted to play a couple of tracks a few
positions down the list.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Beta version of SvrPowerControl

2011-09-04 Thread Heth

I’m very sorry to hear that.

I can only agree – This is the most important plug in for many
squeezebox users, including myself. No matter what some people says
about it – it works without any troubles for me at all. I really
appreciate all your effort by using this plug in – Thanks.

I really hope it will work in the near future when new squeezebox sw
will be released. Otherwise I consider to stay at 7.61, just in order
to take advantage of your very valuable plugin.

Just by looking at this very long thread, it is obvious that many users
simply can’t live without this.

Is there a way to tell Logitech about this, and do you think they are
going to take over the development of this great plugin?

If we could make some kind of request of this, and all the people in
this thread will vote for this, maybe the Logitech people will take
over the development ?
