[SlimDevices: Plugins] SuperDateTime and Squeezebox Touch

2011-12-01 Thread bluebell

Hi all,

I bought a Squeezbox Touch only to run the fantastic SuperDateTime...
ok, just kidding.

The best wife of all wives likes SuperDateTime very much (mee too!). It
runs on our 8 Booms and used to run on my first Squeezebox, a model 2.
Now I replaced the old Squeezebox 2 by a Squeezebox Touch.
Unfortunately I cannot find the place to set SuperDateTime as
Power-Off-Screensaver. Does SuperDateTime support the Squeezebox Touch?

I played an hour of FLAC files without any buffering, haven't had time
to try Spotify again. It needs to be run and watched to be certain
there's no buffering.

I did try 160k a while ago and still had problems but will give it a go
if necessary.

Thanks for your time and help.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Custom Browse Question

2011-12-01 Thread emalvick

One, hopefully simple, question...

Is it possible to set a sort for the menu groups? I see and have found
the sorting within groups is fairly straight forward, but the groups
themselves seem to sort alphabetically only.

I want to try and have certain menu groups appear first without
necessarily changing the group names.

Thanks for asking!

A simple request would be to show the origin of the lyrics displayed
for the Now Playing track. In iPeng I can see if there are no lyrics
embedded in the music file but iPeng found lyrics on the internet, and
then I can try to find the lyrics and embed them (since that is the way
I like to have it).

A more complicated request would be to have muso automatically detect
changes to the SBS database and doing a resync.

More links to the artist, album and track (Wikipedia, AMG, MusicBrainz
and Discogs) could also be useful (maybe even a browser window/tab
within muso).

And - although muso is excellent as a SBS front end on a Windows PC
already as is - I have many more ideas so just keep asking if you have
too much spare time. :) (How about an Artists "cover wall", like with
Albums but with artist images from LastFM? That non SBS related idea I
got from from JRiver Media Center.)

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] SuperDateTime and Squeezebox Touch

2011-12-01 Thread erland

If you want to use it as a screen saver you need Custom Clock applet.
Through Custom Clock applet installed on the Touch and SDT installed in
Squeezebox Server, you will be able to configure a SDT based style in
the Custom Clock settings page under Settings/Screen/Screensavers on
the Touch.

If you like to configure the layout of the style, you probably want to
also install Custom Clock Helper plugin in Squeezebox Server.

Custom Clock requires License Manager applet to be installed and you
need a commercial license to fully utilize its features.

I have tried what I thought was the correct way to do a manual
install:

1. Remove newest plugin and stop server.
2. Copy 2.0.4 to
\var\lib\squeezeboxserver\cache\InstalledPlugins\Plugins (that's where
I found 2.2.1 plugin too - \var\lib\squeezeboxserver\Plugins is
empty).
3. Setting group and user/owner to standard squeezeboxserver (like
2.2.1 had).
4. Starting the server again.

But for the life of me I cannot get the helper app to start with
anything but 2.2.1

What am I missing?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)

2011-12-01 Thread robob

When I recently tried to upgrade to LMS 7.0, I had problems with
Triode’s Spotify – it disappeared from the user menus, rendering it
inaccessible. However, it was offered as an upgrade via the web
interface to 2.2.1. Accepting the upgrade made it accessible again, but
it didn’t work. It appeared that the helper app wasn’t running. A full
removal and reinstall of LMS / Spotify still gave the same result
(helper app not running). In desperation, I did a full system restore
on the Mac (using Time Machine) to be sure I had got rid of LMS and to
revert to the previous Spotify version. Sadly this produced exactly the
same symptoms as the LMS upgrade (had to upgrade to Spotify 2.2.1 before
I could use Spotify, then the helper app again refused to run). So much
for system restore!

The helper app log produces pairs of error reports as shown below. I’ve
tried fiddling with permissions and haven’t noticed any improvement.

I’d be really grateful for any ideas of how to get Spotify running
again. It would probably be handy to know where the “Trace file”
mentioned in the log should appear.

Hardware is Mac Mini (G4 PPC, Not Intel) OS 10.5.8. It had previously
been running Triode’s Spotify OK since May.

Thanks for reading this,

Sometimes your SbS/LMS simply loses its connection to the internet even
though pc still has connection. Not sure how or why. But first response
to a SbS oddity should be a pc reboot. 2nd response should be reboot of
everything including router. These 2 things solve about 95% of problems
in my experience.

It's supposed to list the list of playlists but unfortunately there is
something that cause this SQL statement to execute really slow. The
next version of Custom Browse, planned to be released within the next
days, will contain an improvement of the top level so it should be
faster if you are using 7.6 or 7.7.

The SQL need to look at all tracks because Multi Library supports
overlapping library so you can define a playlist that's:
- Available as a whole if you use SBS standard playlist menu
- One part of it available under library 1
- Another part of it available under library 2

But it does not build the actual playlist for all, it just needs to
look through all tracks when figuring out which playlists that actually
have a track in the selected library and due to this should be shown in
the menu.

If you like to, you can probably combine them if you find Playlist
Generator easier to use.
1. Create a static playlist with Playlist Generator
2. Create a playlist in SQL PLaylist of type "Random playlist songs"
and set the "Only songs in playlist" so it only includes songs in
playlist created in step 1. On the SQL Playlist playlist you will also
be able to set a "Group" for the playlist if you like it to appear
under a specific group in Dynamic Playlists menu.

I'll put the possibility to put a Playlist Generator playlist in a
group under consideration for a future release, but no promises since
Playlist Generator isn't currently one of my prioritized plugins.

If you like to get back to the simple view, you have to remember the
parameters, delete the playlist and create a new one with the same
parameters. There is no way to do some customization and then return to
the simple view and continue working in the simple view and still
applying the customizations.

If you are doing customizations which you think could be useful for
more people, please let me know and I'll consider adding an option to
them from the simple view so you don't have to switch the customized
advanced view at all.
