Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: BBCiPlayer Plugin (UK only)

2012-02-07 Thread mobileadam

Hi,

I posted about the sync player bug recently but haven't had time to
work out how to post my logs etc but I see Owen has helped and Alan
(the developer?) has now posted a fix. I'm not sure how this sort of
thing works (I had assumed there was a big team of developers at
Logitech working on new features and fixing bugs on some sort of
schedule) how I must admit to be thrilled with this quick response.
While not normally using beta software I have downloaded the 'nightly'
version and installed it and have yet to have a re-occurance of the
problem.

Given the complexities of the systems we have (internet connection,
routers, WiFI, local servers and devices, BBC servers or whatever) it
is great to see that the problem was identified (thanks to Triode) and
then quickly resolved once further information was available.

Over the years with Squeezebox stuff I have seen my fair share of
things being improved (and probably a few quirks) but given the
pleasure it gives me as a whole system never do I want to get rid of it
and dump it in favour of something else - although I might drop my
Spotify premium account but that I feel is unrelated to LMS in anyway
:)

So thanks everyone

Adam

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Squeezebox Player app for Boxee Box

2012-02-07 Thread DK_Dennis

When my SB I died, I simply installed Squeezeslave on the XBMC box, that
I have connected to the TV. (it runs on linux, installed on an EEE Box)

It's configured to run demonized at startup, and choses a non-HDMI
sound output, which, in turn, is connected to the HiFi.

The soundcard in the EEE Box handles this very well, as I can play both
a movie on the TV, and send music to the amplifier - at the same time.
(I don't use this - it was discovered accidentially)

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicIP and ALAC ???

2012-02-07 Thread mikerob

It may be a bit late for this, but MusicIP can import your music library
from iTunes rather than using the files themselves.

You should then be able to fingerprint the music collection on one
computer, then move the MusicIP cache file to the NAS, and it should
still work provided the file paths are the same for both.

As you have come across, MusicIP on the Mac uses PPC code to read and
write tags on AAC and ALAC files. On Snow Leopard, you can install the
Rosetta software that will allow MusicIP to read write AAC/ALAC tags
but Rosetta isn't supported on Lion.

Importing the music from iTunes means that MusicIP doesn't need to read
the tags.

However you can't write the fingerprint information to the tags, and
the fingerprints need to be stored in the MusicIP cache file. This
means the music will need to be re-fingerprinted if the file path
changes.

Personally I don't store the MusicIP fingerprints in the tags. Years
ago, an earlier version of MusicIP corrupted tab information when
storing fingerprints, so I never trusted it from then!

[SlimDevices: Plugins] SqueezeCommander and SqueezePlay Custom Home Menu

2012-02-07 Thread chemirocha

I'm using SqueezeCommander to control SqueezePlay, both running on my
Samsung Android phone. It works fantastically well. I hardly ever use
my Duet controllers anymore.

However, I wondered if it was possible to customize the home menu in
SqueezeCommander, and in particular, to make the Sleep menu item
available on it, rather than going down through the settings menu. A
minor inconvenience, I know, but I play audio books quite often when I
go to bed and it would remove one of those little annoyances that can
be a real pain when you're already half-asleep ;-)

Hmm, actually having asked the question has made me think of a solution
- have one of the Duet controllers and its cradle next to the bed,
especially since they are no longer in constant use. On the other hand,
the controller quite often needs to be rebooted to recover the ability
to play back files after a period of inactivity, so I'll ask the
question anyway since it would still be a useful feature to have.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] SqueezeCommander and SqueezePlayer Custom Home Menu

2012-02-07 Thread pippin

I don't think you can modify the main menu but there's a quicker way to
change the sleep setting in SqueezeCommander.
Go to the list of players (swipe right on NowPlaying or long-press the
player name), then hold the player item (the row) and you get to the
player settings menu containing Sleep.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Custom Browse Titles and Artist Question

2012-02-07 Thread emalvick

Ok, I know I've seen this discussed somewhere here or perhaps discussed
in the Wiki, but where can I find info for how to configure my menus to
show (for instance) a song title and then the artist below it in a menu.

I'm not sure if this is a problem with SqueezeCommander or just my
menus (I've created all new ones recently), but I seem to recall when
browsing down to an album that the track listing would show the track
titles with the artist underneath. Now I am only getting the track
titles.

This is becoming problematic when listening to compilations, so I'm
trying to see if there is something I can do to have the artist show up
with the tracks. Is there a setting when configuring menus that can
change how the menu items appear during browsing through a remote (not
the web interface)?

I suppose this could be a problem with the SqueezeCommander App, but
I'm attributing it to flaws in my menu configurations right now.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Custom Browse Titles and Artist Question

2012-02-07 Thread emalvick

Actually, digging around it looks like the Jivepattern will help me out
(someone correct me if I'm wrong). That means I'll have to dig a
little bit into the SQL and RegEx details as I'm quite a beginner when
it comes to those topics.

It may be an issue with certain artwork in the currently playing file.
Could you try to play something else on that player and see whether
 this helps?
Do you have some players synced?

I've got an update waiting for review in the App Store for quite a
while now that I hope will fix the issues I know about but every two
minutes really sounds like too often for all the problems I know of.
I can't really reproduce it. I have that for a couple of months.I have
some large artworks 1000x1000 . Yes, all my 9 players are sync'd in 2 or
3 groups. Now that you mention it, i think it could have started when i
added the last 3 players.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicIP on Windows: Some lessons learned

2012-02-07 Thread ThijsK

Thanks for your reply aubuti. I tried to enter the same path in that
field as I did for MIP. Tracks are listed now in LMS, but it seems they
are not recognized as mixable. At least I cannot find a small m next to
the tracks or way to create a musicIP playlist via de web interface,
iPeng or Squeezebox iphone app.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: New versions of erlands plugins

2012-02-07 Thread buzzsb

Hi Erland,

I installed the license manager on my SB server and SB touch, installed
the album flow applet on the touch, got a demo license. Now Albumflow
seems to work as a screen server, but I cannot access it as a browse
mode under the My Music menu (I suppose it should be an entry in the
same sequence as artists, genre, year, album etc)

I posted about the sync player bug recently but haven't had time to work
out how to post my logs etc but I see Owen has helped and Alan (the
developer?) has now posted a fix. I'm not sure how this sort of thing
works (I had assumed there was a big team of developers at Logitech
working on new features and fixing bugs on some sort of schedule)

I think you'll find Logitech have a small team of LMS developers, for
some definition of small. Alan is indeed one of those Logitech
developers.

To post your logs you would create a userid on the LMS Bugzilla site
(links to the bug in previous postings) and then Attach the logfile
(preferrably zipped) to the bug with a comment saying what you were
doing at the time etc.

Triode identified that the bug was in the core server but was misled by
potentially misleading logging as to excactly where it was. But between
Triode, Alan and myself I feel we got there quite quickly for what is
actually quite a subtle bug.

And I note Alan analysed my logs and submitted a fix at the weekend, so
big thanks from me for that. Don't forget to take a break from time to
time Alan :-).

2012-02-07 Thread mobileadam

Well I used iPlayer extensively today. I didn't need to restart at any
time. Even when using Listen Again I did get 3 re-buffering episodes
but after each one the players both continued the stream which was
fantastic.

The joy of how a reliable service.

thanks again

The browse mode is only available on Radio/Controller because I haven't
figured out how to implement scrolling actions on the touch screen on
the Touch yet.

Sorry, I probably forgot some other setting -- it's been awhile since I
set it up. On the LMS web ui check under Settings Plugins MusicIP
Use MusicIP and make sure it's set to Only read mixable status from

That's what I did as well and when initiating a rescan it tells me that
it does a MusicIP import. Also LMS seems to find the m3lib because it
shows the right amount of tracks in the scan progress information. But
after that something must be wrong.
