Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Smart Mix plugin

2013-01-30 Thread slartibartfast

Is there any way to force echonest to recognise live tracks accurately?
If I set song type to live:false or studio my mixes still contain
a high proportion of live tracks.

PS The track database in text format is available at
http://echoprint.me/ if anyone is interested.

Unfortunately it's still as I stated: I can't reproduce this reliably,
therefore am a bit lost. I'm sorry to admit.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)

2013-01-30 Thread ashleyw

hi, what is the current status on the lack of artist radio in the
spotify plugin. A while ago I read a post that said this was due to the
lack of radio support in the Spotify API. Is this still the hold up or
have things changed? (it seems like many Sonos users are also
complaining about exactly the same problem as well).
thanks.

2013-01-30 Thread sto

Sorry for a simple question but I've trawled and searched this mammoth
thread and not found the answer.

What is the definition of Idle ?

My system(Ubuntu12.10 and 3xSBRs) only powers down when the players have
been switched off (player LED off) and not when they stopped
playing(player LED dull white).

Thanks

yes, it's installed. The + button on the radio gives me the smartmix
options when playing a song. It's just that I can't find the smartmix
menu which gives me access to the receipes.
I have it on my squeezebox 3.

Its still not available in the spotify library. I am still using
libspotify 10 as this includes the old radio api (which was removed from
the more recent versions 11 and 12 ones). The new radio api is not
available in any released spotify library at present. So we are in the
same position as Sono and other users of libspotify.

Thanks for the reply.

I've using the plugin Really Prevent System Standby to send a WOL to
keep my server awake. For some reason it only stop sending the WOL cmd
when the player is off, It thinks the player isn't idle when it's not
playing but on.

How does Really Prevent System Standby or for that matter
SvrPowerCOntrol work out when the player is idle ?

Thanks

ServerPowerControl works fine for me when the players are idle, but not

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Any Perl experts fancy making a high-res flac2mp3 patch?

2013-01-30 Thread paulster

I've used a tweaked and patched version of Robin Bowes' excellent
flac2mp3 Perl script for a number of years now and it's great at
converting my CD- and DVD-sourced 44.1kHz and 48kHz 16-bit FLAC tracks
to mp3.

It does also work when you fire it at high resolution sources, but the
mp3s that Lame generates won't play in Windows Media Player, for
example, so they're clearly not as compatible as they ought to be. I
haven't gone through the hassle of loading them into iTunes to sync onto
the iPods to see how they fare there yet, but I'd like to have my shadow
mp3 library as compatible as possible, which means ensuring that it
plays in WMP whether I like it or not.

The obvious solution seems to be to tweak flac2mp3 so that when it
encounters a high sampling rate or high bit-depth file it engages Sox
first to transcode down to 16/44.1 or 16/48 depending on the sampling
rate of the source file.

This is where it gets beyond me as I've never delved into Perl coding at
all!

Does anyone out there have both the Perl skills and the interest to take
a look at this?

Yes that switch is on the todo list - in fact it will probably be a few
switches to give you a finer grain of control.

If you have Album Artist set to Various Artist in the tags for all
tracks in an album and have a hierarchy of Album Artist it should not be
putting it under No Album Artist! Could you post a screenshot of the
important muso fields for this album?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Beta version of SvrPowerControl

Really Prevent System Standby was orignially windows specific and it
was created by Gordon. I belive it went generic when Gordon removed the
code to run an action when the players weren't idle from
SvrPowerControl. This is why I'm asking the question here.

I wondering now is SvrPowerCOntrol now uses a different way of working
out if the players are idle, anyone ?

Thanks
