Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Qobuz.com streaming plugin
My NAS is quite new (Synology 214 with CPU Marvell Armada XP @ 1,06 GHz dual core) and should not be overflowed so easily ? I plan to change the search further: until now a search for a keyword would have returned results for all of artists, albums and tracks, even if you only wanted the artists. In the next release only the category you want will be searched. This should speed up processing on Qobuz' backend as well as in LMS. Anyway i made the test after upgrading to last plugin and results are still very slow to arrive... (Tested with abba)... But it no longer times out, does it? -- Michael ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

On other searching services it is true that first you have to select the category. It should help to reduce the CPU charge. Anyway best way to address this issue is on Qobuz side in order to make their server send relevant answer and most of all filter the empty answers ! (No way to check that and remove them ?) just made the comparison with Deezer which has searching service perfectly working. axelwin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=60811 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97146 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: ShairTunes Plugin
I would dearly love to have the ability to stream audio direct from my Ipad to squeezebox (I have three duets and a classic). I am particularly interested in being able to stream the audio from Google Play from the Ipad - I think I am right in thinking that once the Ipad sees an airplay compatible receiver on the network, you can route the output from any app to that. Please tell me if that is wrong! I am running LMS 7.8 on a QNAP TS-869L, and am very unfamiliar with Linux. Would it be possible for someone to write a step by step on how to install this plug-in which could be followed even by utter Linux noobs like me? As it stands, my attempt to follow what I have read here has been foiled at the first hurdle. When I try and add the repo linked to by StuartUSA in post 17 of this thread to LMS, I get the following error message: Bad repository http://raw2.github.com/StuartUSA/shairport_plugin/master/public.xml - Redirection limit exceeded - can anyone help me with that? If I can get to the point where the plug-in is installed, I understand that I then need to compile the helper app, on Linux. To do that, I need to SSH into the Qnap box linux inetrface and then simply type the commands as shown at the bottom of https://github.com/StuartUSA/shairport_plugin. Please tell me if this is wrong. Apologies for the very basic questions, and thanks to all who have put work in to developing this plug in so far. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Spotify [Triode] problem: Frequent bufferunderruns
I've been having this problem too on Ubuntu 12.04, but I think I've got to the bottom of it. Using the ss utility with -m shows that the write buffer is limited to 68KB. The Linux stack is measuring the link speed at 2-4Mbps, which should be enough. However, with roughly 60-70ms RTT latency (it's over wireless), and with such a small buffer, keeping a steady flow of data to the Squeezebox requires the buffer to be constantly topped up. This is not possible in spotifyd, because the libspotify code tends to block for roughly 190ms at a time in the same thread that sends data to the Squeezebox. Consequently, the slightest hiccup in the wireless link will cause the drop-outs we've been experiencing. I've tried playing about with the TCP buffer tunings, but it now appears that this won't work because spotifyd calls setsockopt to set the send buffer size to 32768 (which the Linux stack doubles to 65536 to cover overheads) and this effectively switches off the write buffer autotuning processing. As an experiment I've made the following changes. 1. Changed the net.core.wmem_max setting from the rather low default value of 131072 to 12582912. 2. Modified spotifyd64 with hexedit to call setsockopt with a value of 8388608. The result of these changes is that the plugin is now quite happily streaming to the Squeezebox without drop-outs. Three potential solutions spring to mind. 1. Move the send processing to another thread. (Complex, but requires no network buffer tuning whatsoever) 2. Specify a much larger buffer size in setsockopt (Easy, requires only net.core.wmem_max to be changed) 3. Don't call setsockopt at all (Easy, but requires user changes of net.core.wmem_max and net.ipv4.tcp_wmem. Given the asymmetrical profile of data being sent to and from the Squeezebox, it might also help to call setsockopt to set TCP_NODELAY on the socket in order to disable the Nagle algorithm if that isn't already done. I hope this is of some use. I hope this is of some use. Hi - I can definitely avoid calling setsockopt - it is there to make the buffer larger than default on windows and old linux version which default to smaller versions. As you have diagnosed spotifyd is currently using the tcp send buffer as the main buffer for the stream. It tries to write to it whenever the callback from libspotify calls it with data and if it can't write to the socket then buffers it. However it won't try to write again until libspotify calls it again. This clearly means that it requires regular calls from libspotify and also a large enough buffer and in the tcp send buffer. This was all working ok until something changed in linux... Anyway let me look at whether another thread would be trivial or whether buffer tuning and not calling setsockopt is the easiest thing to do. [SlimDevices: Plugins] Whitebear, DNLA issues with Arcam AVR360
Hi I just just decided to switch to Whitebear as the dnla front end for my squeezebox as I heard its more robust then the built in one. I am pushing files direct to my amp via DNLA as I can have better control over the audio that way. I have whitebear on my Server, SB Touch, Bubble UPNP as a controller on my phone and an Arcam AVR360 amp. I am having a few issues with it not playing certain file types though via DNLA. It wont play any FLAC files that I have at all it just seems to sit there and do nothing. I can see its putting out 3 streams LPCM, FLAC and MP3, but it just seems to hang on the LPCM. My amp had no issues playing these files through the Official SB DNLA as raw FLAC or via SB Touch as digital audio. Any ideas is this Whitebear, Bubble UPNP, SBS or something else? Also is it possible to stream the Triode spotify plugin via DNLA. It comes up when browsing the library and you can search songs but wont play. Any help appreciated. crystalgipsy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=62489 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=100929 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
