Hey bpa, As far as I can tell from the command line, user "107" is running LMS. I tried using arecord, and it says it doesnt recognize user 107. I wasn't aware there was anything wrong with mine until I realized tonight the temperature and forecast hadn't changed in at least the past 24 hours. I think you have Pulseaudio which can cause problem for WaveInput but probably not if using the Wolfson line-in. You need to check arecord recoding the Wolfson line-in running as the user which LMS uses. When LMS is running do a "ps" command and find the user name which is running LMS. Hey bpa, Thanks for getting back to me. My Pi's are running on Raspbian with Wolfson kernels. I never installed pulseaudio myself. There is a folder called "pulse" in /etc, but I'm not sure if that means that this version of Raspbian came with pulseaudio. I just installed LMS 7.8.0 from the repository at slimdevices and it runs at startup. I believe it's running as a service (since I can use "sudo service logitechmediaserver stop" to stop it. I don't know if my user id has permission to access the audio device. Is there a way to determine this? [SlimDevices: Plugins] WaveInput Setup Troubles
Hey there, I am having issues using the WaveInput plugin on my Raspberry Pi unit. For background information, I currently have two RPis (both with Wolfson sound cards) set up for audio playback. One of the units has LMS installed on it and both have squeezelite player installed. I can have both players simultaneously play a flac file from the server with no gaps or sound issues. Local recording and playback (with arecord, aplay, or vlc) works on both units. Also, I can listen to an input from line in by piping arecord to aplay. However, I have to close squeezelite on whichever RPi I want to use arecord, aplay, or vlc with (they complain that the device is busy). Now, for the problem. I wish to take the linein input to the Wolfson card and play that back on the server as well as the client RPi. I got the WaveInput plugin through the LMS plugins section, added the URL "wavin:default" to my favorites, played a song locally with vlc on the server, and tried to select the URL in my favorites on my Squeeze Android app. However, when I press play, the button will flash from pause to play in an instant, and I won't get any audio out on the client Pi. I tried switching the URL to "wavin:hw:0" (this is how I specify my Wolfson card when I use arecord) and playing from the LMS webpage, but I get the same results for both. I read through most of the WaveInput Linux main discussion thread, but I couldn't find something that could help me (or that was clear enough to me). Does anyone have an idea of how to get playback running with this plugin. I am a beginner with Linux. Any help is appreciated. Yep, my SDT stopped updating on 11/19/2014. I just see the weather.com logo on the left of the screen, and it refreshes to the same when I hit the "+" to update. I tried listing a local WeatherUnderground station and removing the zip code for weather.com in the settings, but after applying the changes it still is broken. Actually I never could get the WeatherUnderground to work, just was grasping. Hope it gets fixed. I'm running LMS 7.8.1 - 1416307957 on a Windows XP box for a Touch and a Radio. Last night I updated Avast AV (free) from 2014 to 2015 and removed Comodo Firewall. Now there is no weather data appearing on either device. I uninstalled Avast and that didn't help. I reinstalled 2014 and again, it didn't help. I have Custom Clock Helper configured Super Date Time as the off screensaver and while the time shows, the weather info does not. I have checked in the Extras section and none of the weather apps (Weather, Custom Clock, Super Date Time) are showing data. That tells me it's not the app that's causing the problem. I have powered off and on both devices. I have stopped and started LMS. I have uninstalled and resinstalled LMS. The XP machine has been restated a number of times. And there is still no data showing. There will alway be a latency gap with WaveInput due to drivers,
Windows, LMS and network transmission. On some Windows systems, user
can never reduce the delay enough.
There is only one setting on LMS which can affect the delay.
The WaveInput Plugin generate an audio stream which is treated by LMS
similar to a remote http radio station. So the WebUI
Setting/Advanced/Network/ Radio Station Buffer settings determines how
much of audio stream is buffered in player before playing starts (i.e.
delay between start and when audio is heard) . System default is often
3 but often users will have adjusted it higher.
If you wish to have a lower settings for WaveInput then you can edit the
plugin source code and add in the following bufferThreshold routine
after the isRemote router in plugin file WAVIN.pm

The value in bufferThreshold is in kbytes of data - how many playing
seconds (i.e. latency) depends on stream format. Too small and stream
will stutter.
Changes to plugin will only take effect when LMS is stopped and
restarted.

Many thanks for your fast reply. After spending a while parsing your suggestions, the penny dropped and I realized that this "Stereo Mix" input is a loopback thing. I have the ability to do that with the RME [by ctrl-clicking the output, if anyone is interested]. Once I enabled loopback, everything worked perfectly! I am however getting extremely high latency right now (several seconds). How do I change the buffering settings for WaveInput to try to improve this?
