Although I have added the exceprion for the helper plugin in my firewall the sound disppapers as soon as I switch on the firewall again. All other functions of LMS work like a charme with an activated firewall. Are there other exceptions for more ports etc. needed? Sorry I'm late to this party... Have you looked in the WebUI to see if your Squeezeplay shows there? I've had the issue where Squeezeplay won't connect just like you say, but I could still play music on it by using the WebUI or any other controller, like a Duet controller or one of the Android or iThing controllers. thanks all for the suggestions. 1. did the full reboot thing, no change. The squeezeplay doesn't find the server, and the server doesn't list squeezeplay. 2. I notice one odd thing - the other devices, Duets and the Boom - if I don't use them for a day or so, I have to power cycle them for them to be listed at the server. This seems to be a bit worse recently - before this only needed to be done once in a while. [SlimDevices: Plugins] Squeezebox server music to iphone without itunes?
I'm used the android clients which can download music directly to phones, and I was wondering if there was any way to do this on ios. I know it used to be against the tos for anything besides itunes to add music, but I understand some other applications, such as dropbox, apparently can circumvent this limitation. In an ideal world it would give me some direct link into the Squeezebox server to download albums and playlists not just songs one by one. OK, mystery solved! Basically, I used tcpdump at the server and discovered that discovery requests were not arriving. The command is: >tcpdump -i eth0 -n port 3483 I unplugged all squeeze devices from the network and then ran this command in a shell at the server. You can clearly see the req/ack packets happen when a device is plugged in. (Aside : oddly, one of the two controllers of the two Duets chats back and fore with the server regularly - the other doesn't. No idea why.) But when I did the same with my laptop and squeezeplay - I found nothing was getting there. I used to use VMWare on this laptop, and because of that there were various virtual interfaces defined. I wondered if these were confusing Squeezeplay, so I uninstalled VMWare (as I don't use it). bingo, it started working just fine. I guess Squeezeplay auto-selected the wrong interface. So anyone with more than one interface might have an issue, I would guess. (By the way - it took me a while to discover that the old slimp3 UDP protocol is not used anymore. Perhaps someone should mark it OBSOLETE in the wiki in big red letters and link to http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/SlimProtoTCPProtocol ? Hello, kindly asking for help after reading/skimming the 52 pages of this forum, and not being able to resolve my MP3 playback problem via Local Player. I suspect a codec issue, but am not skilled enough to troubleshoot. My setup: -Server: Synology NAS running LMS 7.7.6 -Player: MacBook (10.6.8 Snow Leopard) running LMS 7.7.5 with Local Player 1.6.5 installed (i386 binary selected) (Both are signed into mysqueezebox.com, player is registered there.) - Controller: iPeng I have no trouble playing my music library of FLACs and ALACs, but neither MP3 files nor MP3 streams will play (I have not managed to play a single radio station via TuneIn, though there is one non-MP3 LMS radio station that works). Via Homebrew (actually Tigerbrew branch for OS X 10.6), I've installed: - mad - mpg123 - lame I simply followed the "install" commands and have made no further modifications. The thread indicated I might also need to install sox, but have not done so because I'd have to go via Rudix (not available via Homebrew), and am concerned whether installing from two different sources would complicate matters. Would be grateful to anyone who can point me in the right direction, happy to supply debug log.
