Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty 2.8.x - Spotify Connect for your Squeezebox

2019-05-31 Thread Michael Herger

Nope, I have a vanilla setup in that regard
Helper on auto
One browser menu per account (four of those)

Odd... Feel free to give an old build a try:

- uninstall Spotty
- restart LMS
- go to Settings/Information to find the location of the Plugins folder
(NOT the one inside InstalledPlugins!)
- download http://downloads.nixda.ch/Spotty-2.8.1.zip and unzip to that
folder (you should then have Plugins/Spotty)

- restart LMS

Good luck!

If the phone wasn’t on the same network it wouldn’t work at all, that’s
not the case. All 5 squeezebox can be seen on each phone, just not at
the same time.

Why don't you just double-check? I'm pretty sure I know better what I'm
talking about than you do... Spotify does list all of my devices, no
matter where I am. I can control my home SB from the road or the office.
I've tried to describe how things work several times before. But you'd

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Material Skin

2019-05-31 Thread haschmich

On my Android phone, the rating display (stars below album cover in now
playing) is not updated after waking up from sleep (screen blank) mode.
If one or more track changes happened while screen was black, after
waking up it would still show the rating number that was valid at the
time when the screen went black.

Also when the first track after starting Material Skin is unrated, not
even the star outlines will be shown, so it is impossible to rate from
now playing screen. Maybe it would be cleaner to have an option to
display/hide rating on now playing screen, just as for title numbers?

Bottom line, we can’t throw Spotify music on the squeezebox without
having to set the right account first...

Is this a normal behavior/limitation or a bug?

As I said this is the behaviour you'd see if either announcements were
disabled, or the mobile phone was not in the same network as LMS.

I’m afk at the moment. I’ve left default settings. Not sure how they are
set but sure that announcement is not disabled.
Squeezebox are successfully displayed in available devices in each
iPhones which are obviously on the same WiFi network than LMS.

The issue is not that it’s impossible to find the SB on the wife’s
phone.
It’s that one phone can only find the squeezebox that have the Spotify
account activated.

If I’ve set my account activated on the living-room Receiver, then the
squeezebox is available on my Spotify but not hers.
If I switch the activated account on the SB, it disappear in my Spotify
and appears in hers.

Bottom line, we can’t throw Spotify music on the squeezebox without
having to set the right account first...

A fix would be really cool.

Another thing I found out. I have normally 2 Players with I use like a
Source. One Player called Radio always has the Radio Station Playlist
Playing and another one called "Spotify"

The other Players in the rooms than synced to these players. Like
Bedroom, Livingroom, Fitness, Garden and so on.

If I use Squeezlite-X with and then add a playlist to a player it
changes the playlist on all players in the network. Wheter thy where
before synced or not.
How can I prevent from doing this.
Normally it only changes the playlist of the players which are synced
toghether.

Thanks Daniel

I think sourceforge is throttling files which are downloaded a lot such
as the repo files as there seems to be fewer delays with the Zip files.
Delays loading the repo files messes with LMS startup and Plugin tab
loading and can cause strange errors.

Nice thing about sourceforge is that stats are kept about number of
downloads and countries - otherwise I'd move all files to github.io

I now need to remember to keep the githib.io and sourceforge repo files
in sync

That has just downloaded an order of magnitude faster. Tried again a

Just to confirm there are still known issues with BBCiPlayerExtra
- "Latest" menus are all broken
- Program title and some metadata sometimes doesn't appear on older SB
players (e.g Boom, SB3) when playing a "Listen Again" program

If you see any other problems or quirks in either plugin please report

AAC podcast can be either ADTS (which is AAC but setup for MPEG2
streaming) or MPEG4. ADTS podcast are rare but it is same as http/AAC
streams and HLS streams in the simple format and TS2 formats.

There are two sorts of MPEG4 (and I don't mean MP4) format - one of
which is setup for streaming (i.e. all the indexes etc are up front).
Some AAC podcast incorrectly use the non-streaming MPEG4 format which
works if podcast is downloaded but not if it streamed - so itis case of
incorrectly/ignorently used technology which is giving MPEG4 podcast a
bad name.

SB player can play ADTS AAC and some types of streamed MPEG4 AAC
streams. For transcoding ADTS is safest.

The name of the group player is just "Wohnzimmer". I have no idea where
the last part starting with the comma comes from.
Sometimes it it named ""Wohnzimmer, Squeezebox Küche & Squeezebox
Touch", a few hours later "Wohnzimmer".

CentOS7 (x86_64-linux), SqueezebosServer 7.9.1 - usually the latest
nightly build
Squeezebox Touch
2x Squeezebox Radio
1x Squeezebox Boom

by format change in BBC feed.

Away from speculation and back to real world.

Quick fix and not fully tested but I think something is better than
nothing. Thanks to mavit & mrw.

The update is only available the betarelease-repo.xml - (perhaps this
change will get users back onto a single repo)

I think Podcast = MP3, at least by tradition. So if you're providing a
podcast, it might make sense for it to be MP3, for "compatibility". I
seem to recall that MP4s can be awkward, owing to the nature of the
packaging. Which said, I'm probably talking complete b**s.

BBCSounds is aimed at downloading podcasts so all URLS are MP3 but
couldbe AAC but never DASH or HLS.

Depends on how many manufacturers are using it - Systemline still are

Are *all* the BBCsounds URLs pointing us (eventually) at MP3s ? Or do
some point us to AAC, DASH, etc. ? I haven't looked at these BBC Sounds
web pages in any detail. They're not much use if your music player
doesn't happen to have an all singing, all-dancing, internet web

Perhaps it's the availability xml schedule that's (finally ?) on the way
out.

Can't abandon HLS because Apple won't implement DASH.

However the main point of HSL and DASH was the ability to dynamically
vary bitrate according on network load - and the BBC doesn't do that.
BBC also don't use the metadata features of the formats or segments -
all BBC specials - implemented in a way no one else uses.
The only feature that is implemented is a "skip back" but HLS can do
that as well - so why bother with DASH.

Currently all the national BBC UK only MP3 streams are supposed
(according to BBC IMDA feed) to be 320kbps 44.1Khz. R3 is already
320kbps AAC. I can't test as I'm outside the UK.

It is odd given that just 2 years ago when DASH was still BBC-beta
testing, they shutdown Flash/AAC but feedback meant they had to provide
shoutcast MP3 as a stopgap which were to be phased out in 12 months.
Instead of being shutdown, the MP3 streams have been upgraded for UK
listeners - only R3 gets AAC. BBC now follows - not leads in
broadcasting technology. DASH does not seem to be used widely - unless
there is an economic advantage, the BBC may be tempted to shut DASH
streams down and just stick with MP3 for all.

Thanks everyone for letting me know about this. I am suspecting that
the coding pattern I used to support running in background (involving a

2019-05-31 Thread Max2Play

Hi MrKettle,

If you have not yet posted it this issue in our forums and it still
persists, please consider doing so. We can help you the fastest when you
post in our forums and ask about further details the quickest.

To start with, you can check which version of NFS your share uses and
which one you have set in the mounting options.

So it looks like instead of fixing the problem with bad HLS / DASH URLs
arising from BBCSounds - BBC have added the BBCsounds MP3 URL -
possibly with the intention of removing the DASH/HLS URLs in the future.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Squeezelite-X

2019-05-31 Thread danx

I use Material skin.

Any Idea why SQ-X looses the focus for the on screen keyboard? Is it
possible to fix this?

It would be great to be able to use the search input for spotty and my
Media.

This is the only app where this happens. All other apps work as
expected.

Thanks a lot!

Don't think so. What indicated podcast only ? I see three "link" - the
"bbcsounds" type is podcast and "mediaselector" types are HLS and DASH

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] New plugin for audio bookmarks

I also have a major problem using this plugin.
Installation and configuration worked.
But the plugin generates absolutely no bookmarks.
Running on LMS 7.9.2 - 1559032210.
