AFAICT - V2.1 would not work on Windows regardless of LMS version. It's
strange, the code changes a LMS Read-only property but only the Windows
version of LMS flags it as an error.

According to Sourceforge 37% of the V2.1 Downloads are to Windows
systems - yet no complaints !

Thanks for the plugin until sometime ago it was working as it should.

I've installed the update but still no luck.
It does show a split sec some information, although I'm not sure if it

Weird - I've just tried a few live and listen again and no message.

Looking at the code - it's kind of odd that there is no "title" field
just "artist" in the metadata so looks like it is a "last resort" when
all else has failed.

What are your settings ?

Looks like I forgot to change it before release - that was an issue
about encoding of program names, description etc. that had to be fixed.

What station/program does this occur on ? I use LMS with an open log
window so I usually spot extra log messages but I don't check all
station programmes and metadata can vary by station & settings.

Thanks! I end up with a small unix-executable, "lame".

I put it in this folder,
~/Library/Caches/Squeezebox/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/LocalPlayer/Bin

I did this because of what @triode wrote elsewhere, -"I'm being cautious
about mp3 codecs and not including them in the shipped binary - there
should be instructions in the zip of where to get the compatible decoder
library, just put it in the same place as the squeezelite binary." -

So now that lame executable it sits next to libFLAC.8.dylib,
squeezelite-osx, and squeezelite-osx-i386.
It seems to have read-write-exec all enabled for everyone.

But when I restart LMS, and attempt to play an MP3 with localplayer, I
get the same error.

LMS requires lame to decode mp3 files, unless you create a
custom-convert.conf with rules to use mpg123.

You can download a 'lame binary for macOS'
instead.

Your answer is based on the source (Echo Dot) being adjacent to his
server.
I have read the OPs posts differently i.e. I have read them to mean his
Echo Dot is in his Living Room 15 metres away.
It sounds to me like the server is a central system with 6 USB DAC
outputs presumably wired to 6 sets of speakers located in various rooms
of his house.
I would imagine that he wants the Echo Dot in the Living Room so he can
voice control it.

I think the OP needs to clarify exactly what it is he is trying to do.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Alexa to LMS

2019-07-10 Thread bpa

OK.

You should have pulseaudio-utils installed - this package includes the
"parec" command used to record Pulseaudio sources.
You should also have Pulseaudio GUI applications under menu "Sound &
Video" "PulseAudio Volume Control" & "Pulse Audio Volume Meter
(Capture)"

First it is necessary to make sure you are getting audio on the correct
input and that you can record audio from the input.

Plug a sound source into the audio in and make there is continuous audio
(e.g a radio station)

Using "Pulse Audio Volume Meter (Capture)" - on the working port the
meters should be moving - find which pulse audio device is the one you
are using.
If No port show activity use "PulseAudio Volume Control" to look at
input devices and make sure volume level is right to show activity.

The command to record a WAV file form audio input is as follows.

Code:

  parec --file-format=wav -d alsa_input.pci-_00_1b.0.analog-stereo test.wav

After record about 30 secs - stop the program and try to play the
test.wav file to confirm the audio has been recorded.

The input device (i.e. the devices start with "alsa_input") you use
will depend on your system. A short list of valid device names (Igore
any "monitor" devices) will be shown using

Code:

  pactl list short sources

After a first try with only a part of my collection I can say that your

Now I let read my complete disk and test it again afterwards. But I
assume that it will still work.

I suspect that the bugs crept in due to the updates from the original
Synology beta package to the Pinkdots version. I assume that reading my
library will take until tonight. I will continue to report. Thanks for
your help and sorry for the circumstances.
