Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Can we connect to a Jellyfin instance?
I do actually point both LMS & Jellyfin to the same music folders. It does work very well. But playlists are not synced for example. Or favs. It just feels like I use 2 systems (which is the case). Upnp would work too as a clever way of achieving interoperability, but limited in terms of LMS features. What is the advantage of using this new firmware, are there any additional functionality areas that we currently don't have? I'm not trying to knock this down, I just want to know what this offers us. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Can we connect to a Jellyfin instance?
But why would you not point LMS to the same raw music files via a shared file system given that they are almost certainly on the same LAN? If not ... then UPnP as earlier response suggested would probably work but without full LMS functionality. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Can we connect to a Jellyfin instance?
slartibartfast wrote: > I suspect nobody knows anything about Jellyfin. What exactly do you want > to do? Fair. Jellyfin is quite new (18 months or so) but forked from Emby. It's exactly like Plex, but FOSS. It's a media server that allows you to selfhost your own media content (videos, tv show... and music of course. It's a really cool peace of software, and the dev team is working really hard on it. Here you have a live demo : https://demo.jellyfin.org/ Point would be to connect Squeezebox to a Jellyfin music library, exactly like you do with the (awesome) spotty plugin for Spotify. Except it would be our own music. Not a 3rd party service. hello, awesome theme. I am wondering if we could see the year of album on lyrics tab under of details (currently we see artist, technical, source). If we play from Spotify connect the only way to view the year of song is through context menu of track, album details etc.. However, this I had done on my Win machine and based on MIP v1.9b6. Rescanning using v1.8.1 (on Windows), overwriting the results in the tags, and then copying the mp3s to the Raspberry, the headless server recognized all 20k tracks in a few minutes as mixable. When I did this using the stored results of v1.9b6 MIP didn't recognize anything, so it seems there is a difference in the analysis algorithm. I don't understand the behavior, though: I previously had scanned the tracks with both v1.9b6 and v1.8.1 and compared the results of the tags--both were identical. I also had deleted the old default.m3lib, so that might also have had an influence. Anyways, it works now.
