The Linux bliss-analyser build is x86_64 only, not arm. I assumed,
although admittedly did not try, that analysis on a Pi4 would be slow.
Also assumed most users would have a more powerful desktop/laptop that
would be used for the analysis. Hence bliss-analyser can be used to
upload bliss.db to LMS on a Pi.

Thanks for the confirmation, I'll release a 0.0.2 version of the plugin
with this later. Am I correct in assuming vcruntime140.dll was not
required for bliss-analyser? I've updated its build script to bundle
this in the ZIP anyway, but will not make a new release until required.

There’s no real solution yet. It’s clearly a problem with Spotify‘s
infrastructure. But there are workarounds described in the GitHub issue.
Basically you have to tell your system to use a different host than what
Spotify tells you to. What OS are you on?

Thanks, Michael. When you say they don't play, does the time count move,
but no audio? With me, the counter indicates it's jumped into the
stream, and starts counting, as if playing—but with no audio. And the
controls in iPeng for pause etc will now be frozen; I have to restart to
try anything more with iPeng.

How about you?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce : BBC Sounds Plugin

2022-03-06 Thread vlgindeed

Firstly - thank you to all those who give of their time to help support
us continuing to use this product stack.

I’m new to using this plugin and typically have been using 1
picorePlayer v6.00 with LMS 7.9.3 on rpi4 1Gb, to listen to live Radio
2 successfully - usually for a couple of hours at a time. Plugin version
is 2.23.2. Yesterday I used 2 picoreplayers in a group using the group
player plugin, again for live radio 2. This time - after 4.5 hours
playing, the stream stopped and I was unable to bring material up in a
browser - connection refused. Checking the rpi4, squeeze box server
process was not running.

I checked dmesg and found that the oom_reaper had killed
squeezeboxserver pid - around 675mb usage. There was little to go on in
the server log but I did not have any log settings above defaults. I
then restarted squeezeboxserver and watched memory usage in top whilst I
re-listened to radio 2 live via the plugin. Memory footprint increases
around 2.5mb per minute - which ties in with the 4.5 hours usage and
675mb max before oom_reaper steps in.

I compared with other radio streams using aac and mp3 and memory
footprint remains static. Same for streaming local flac and mp3 files.

I’d appreciate any insights/thoughts - this plugin is great, but with
the apparent mem leak, scuppered.

Thx, Scott

vcruntime140.dll IS required, but it wasn't on my Win10 MC. I tried to
download a copy of it but that failed with a fail to run error when
bliss tried to make a mix.

I noticed that there was a file present on my MC called
vcruntime140_clr0400.dll, so I made a copy of it and renamed it to
vcruntime140.dll and that worked.

So in the end, my win32 directory contained vcruntime140_clr0400.dll
(original) and vcruntime140.dll (same as vcruntime140_clr0400.dll but
renamed).

Hope that makes sense?

I just had an oom as well ... first time I can remember.
A few minutes earlier I had updated 3 plugins - MAI, BBC Sounds and one
other (but can't remember which it was) and had restarted LMS and was
running a new/changed scan (because I had recently put some new tracks
on disk).
I was not playing a BBC station (unless a player somewhere had resumed
on restart - but I don't think so).

Wow that was fast. Will test and report once the docker image in using
updates

As for the integration: I built an rfid controller using esphome, mqtt
and node red to control playback on lms.

It's mostly for my daughters audio books but I have a few cards to play
my mixes out radio stations.

I wonder why your machine doesn't have vcruntime140.dll. Mine has that
and vcruntime140_clr0400.dll and a couple of others.
vcruntime140.dll is 92KB
vcruntime140_clr0400.dll is 86KB

This DLL can be installed by other apps. Guess it just depends on which
apps you have installed on your system. Anyhow, 0.0.2 of the plugin will
bundle this DLL, and so will 0.0.2 of the analyser. I'm just trying to
decide if its worth the time and effort to add CUE file splittng - but
as I have no CUE files I'm struggling to decide if its worth the effort.

It’s most obviously applied in New Releases where the listing is
filtered in the Qobuz app depending on Genre(s) selected.
It may apply elsewhere but I don’t use it either!

Crikey!
I've had one report before about a memory leak many months ago, but as
hard as I tried I couldn't recreate.

Just to clarify, do you get the memory leak only when you are playing
synched players, or whenever you are playing live radio?

Too many to add to the ignore file. I suppose I could move them all into
a folder named "Live" and add that to the ignore file but that sounds
very time consuming as well.
I could create a genre group containing all the genres I do want to be
included in mixes but then if I play a track outside of that group the
mixer will return tracks also outside of the group which I wouldn't want
either.

Yeah - I checked grouped players, sync only players and a single player.
The problem (rate of leak) is worse with grouped than with single
player. For group of 2 picoreplayers it was 25mb per 10mins and for
single player it was around 12mb per 10mins ... maybe that’s a
correlation, not sure .. I checked over a 30min period. I am only
playing live radio through plugin atm.

My LMS runs as a headless Win10 MC, and I run it as lean as I can, so as
little apps running as possible. All it really does is run LMS and
MusicIP.

That probably explains why vcruntime140.dll wasn't there.

The long term plan is to retire the Win10 MC and use something like Rpi
with pCP as Win10 is too big, clunky (and forever updating) so I think
it is overkill for this this application - plus the server is a bit
power hungry, hence my interest in bliss as a mixer which should
hopefully run on a rPI/pCP setup.

Is 'Live' the -only- genre the files have? If so you could use an SQLite
UI (e.g. SQLiteBrowser) and try the following SQL:

Code:

  UPDATE Tracks set IGNORE=1 WHERE Genre='Live';

or if 'Live' is one of many genres:

Code:

  UPDATE Tracks set IGNORE=1 WHERE (Genre LIKE '%;Live' OR Genre LIKE 'Live;%');

@slarti, I am not running 8.3. Can you test to see if other mixes will
run direct as well? eg "track radio" behaves as a mix (I have to add to
playlist in order to play)

For 0.0.2 of the analyser I've update the 'ignore' handling to allow
specifying the WHERE part of the SQL. e.g. For your usecase the ignore
file could have:

Code:

  SQL:Genre='Live'

All lines starting 'SQL:' are treated as SQL WHERE clauses.

You need to use the "LIKE" syntax as detailed before. This allows
partial string matches. So "WHERE Genre LIKE 'Live;%'" means match where
Genre starts with "Live;" - you could omit the semi-colon, but I'm just
safeguarding here.

of course! Think before you type Jim :o

Here is what the author said when I asked him about it in a previous
post:

-Me: It works great for me almost all of the time, but some things don't
work. For example, I can't get "My Daily Discovery" or any of the
"Master Edition - Track Radio" to play. Most playlists and albums do
work. I am not sure if this because these are handled differently?

Author: I guess the LMS Tidal plugin can only play "Track", "PlayList"
and "Album" (please correct me if I am wrong), so my app can't do much
as the playing part is managed by LMS (& the Tidal plugin).

My workaround is to (in the Tidal app) add any "My Daily Discovery",
"Radio" or "Mix" into a new PlayList, then play the PlayList.-

So maybe, as you say, if the plugin can now play mixes.

Did the analyser not state this at the end? I added code to show errors
if title, artist, album, and genre were empty. What file format do the
empty tracks have? Or all of the same file-type? Are all files of this
file-type empty?

To be explicit you would need to handle all cases:

Code:

UPDATE Tracks set Ignore=1 WHERE Genre='Live'
UPDATE Tracks set Ignore=1 WHERE Genre LIKE 'Live;%'
UPDATE Tracks set Ignore=1 WHERE Genre LIKE '%;Live'
UPDATE Tracks set Ignore=1 WHERE Genre LIKE '%;Live;%'

so: only genre, 1st genre, last genre, any genre of track.

What about if you run "bliss-analyser tags" - this should cause it to
re-read tags, and compare against whats in the DB, and update if
required.

Ok, thanks for the information.

FYI I've been running 3 streams on LMS running on Picoreplayer for the

I'd be interested to know if you enabled LMS on one of your

I'll try and recreate your debian install on a pi and try on that

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Qobuz.com streaming plugin

2022-03-06 Thread acanning

Morning All

I’ve just signed up to Qobuz and started enjoying the lovely high
quality streams with this excellent plugin.

I have a question about the preferred quality setting. I’ve searched
through the thread but can’t see a definitive answer. Basically, is it
possible to define the preferred quality on a per player basis as
opposed to a global setting.

I have a couple of players which can deal with the full 24/192 stream
(when available) but other players go silent on this setting. Being able
to set it on a per player basis would obviously resolve this.

Best wishes
Ashley

:-) Appreciate the effort/lengths you’re going to. I had wondered about
it being an LMS issue and testing an upgrade - I think that would be
easier for me as I could clone the USB3 Sata disk I’m using for the rpi4
to backup, then try latest v8 LMS.

One other thing to mention - I’m using the startup switch to isolate
from mysqueezebox - I forget the param name

Thx, Scott

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Qobuz.com streaming plugin

2022-03-06 Thread acanning

Perhaps the problem is unique to my use case then. Specifically, I have
a RPI player feeding a pair of Meridian DSP speakers which accept a
digital signal. The speakers cannot go beyond 24/96 but the RPI will
output the full 24/192 stream when available. In this case the speakers
don't play anything. However, I have a desktop system also fed by an RPI
which has a DAC capable of playing the full stream so I would rather not
limit it in the global settings.

Is there another way to limit the output from the RPI feeding the
Meridian speakers?

It uses an Allo Digione card to feed the speakers using an spdif cable.
All using piCorePlayer.

Ahh OK, I thought you maybe using toslink.

Sounds like the Pi can do 192kHz but the card or speakers can't.

You can limit the max rate that picoreplayer can use under squeezelite
settings in the Web Gui

Your FLAC has ID3v2 tags? The 'tag reader'
(https://github.com/Serial-ATA/lofty-rs) I'm using only supports "Vorbis

what FLAC files used?

Your other file has MIP fingerprint data. If I remove either
'fingerprint' or 'analysis' then the tag reading succeeds. I -might-
raise an issue with the tag reader library, but I have no such files to
post as examples. Seeing as I run under Linux, MusicMagic does not
handle m4a files - so I can't create a dummy file with analysis data to
show the issue. I'm also pretty sure I can't upload your track either...

All my files have MIP fingerprint data. I have no idea why the other
file has ID3v2 tags, I use mp3tag and assume it writes the correct type.

On that Pi you need to set the max sample rate to be 96000. It’s sending
192000 to the speakers which they can’t deal with.

Edit. Didn’t see Jeff’s answer that says the same

I notice that the bliss mixer seems to handle multiple genre tags (for
example I have some songs tagged as Folk/Country or Soul/Blues etc) and
bliss seems to be able to fit these tracks into either a blues or soul
mix which is neat. I don't think MIP could ever do that and would only
ever read one tag.

I've been listening all afternoon and I like the balance of the mix that
bliss generates. Thanks for your work on this Craig, for me, I think
this is the way forward.

A minor question, when I initially did my analysis I noticed that it
flagged 5 tracks out of >10k that could not be analysed, I think MIP did
the same and the reason was the tracks were either too short or silence
- I assume bliss has similar rules, is there a way to tell why these
files were skipped?

It's applied everywhere. As a jazz fan, I don't get assaulted with
cRAP, Rawk or HipHop every time I want to play something. Only jazz.
It's bliss. You set the filters once, and they stick. I assume there
must be an API for the filters.

Example of the app's main screen when jazz and classical filters are
selected. No sign of anything but jazz and classical anywhere in the
app. Same for their web player.

I'll try and find a royalty free music sample, convert to m4a, analyse

week or so back and it was fixed in a day.

Genres are only actually used if you set up genre groups. Also, just to
be clear, genres are assumed to be semi-colon separated.

Well, I can't really take credit for this. The 'similarity' is all based
upon bliss-rs code, using nearest-neighbour lookup from another library.
All I'm doing is hooking things up, adding some filtering, and some
randomness. But, glad its working for you.

I'd imagine there needs to be a minimum number of samples, and some
sound, in order to produce the metrics.

Hi

Excelent pluggin!!
Thanks to team that make this possible!!

After several test I can solve some problems with files different than
the cd 16/44 format.
These file, 24/96 for example, some times only where play it as. White
noise in endpoint (Sonos speakers, marantz receiver) the strange things
was not always, some time is play well than other not, without any
change in settings of LMS or the network.
A couple of day ago I start to play with bridge settings (audio
parameters/codecs) leaving just on codec active an found that only flac
and PCM works well with all my file type and airplay player, all the
others fail in some formats or player.

I am not sure how these settings was filling when the pluggin is
installed.

Sorry my English!

Cheers

2022-03-06 Thread gorman

The very same track (Amarok 1h:00m:02s) plays flawlessly to DAC32 with
this "complicated" conversion line:

Code:

  [flac] -dcs $START$ $END$ -- $FILE$ | [sox] -q -t wav - -t flac -C 8 -b 16 -
gain -8.5 bass +4.0 34 0.70q bass +4.5 100 0.70q equalizer 220 0.90q -2.2
equalizer 1050 1.00q -0.6 equalizer 1500 3.00q +0.7 equalizer 2200 1.20q +4.5
equalizer 2600 2.50q -2.5 equalizer 5800 3.50q -7.7 equalizer 7900 6.00q -3.0
treble -3.0 9000 0.70q

I say this because I honestly don't think it's DAC32 at fault here.

Ran through the library and there were lots of 'Failed to read tags of'
errors 3500 out of 21261.
I used DBpoweramp to examine the tags on a sampling, and made
modification to some and resaved the tags.
They all seem to have Title Artist Album Genre filled in without special
characters.
I reran bliss-analyse tags and it updated 0.
Compared some tracks that had error where others in the folder did not,
as well as whole albums that had errors. Nothing jumped out at me.
I have used a couple of ripping and tagging programs over the years (
cdexe, mp3tag dbpoweramp, musicbrainz picard ) and the samples have
covered pretty much any of the tagging programs.
Some of the ones that skipped around ( some read some not in the same
album )were downloaded tracks pre tagged.

Looking at this again - I see that "Foobar2000 Renderer" is listed as a
player on the Upnp Bridge Plugin page, and it's in the upnpbridge.xml.
However it does not show as a player in the default "Player" pager under
LMS, and does not show as a player in the drop-down menu where it can be
synchronized with other players.

This used to work for me..I'm not sure what's going on now, but I'd love
to be able to get it working again. Any help will be greatly
appreciated!

LMS is running on a QNAP NAS
Foobar2k is running on a Win10 machine, with the Firewall disabled.

Foobar2k Renderer also shows in J. River running on the same PC.
Interestingly though, when I run Upnp analyzer on the same PC, Foobar2k
does not show up...

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2022-03-06 Thread Michael Herger

Thanks, Michael. When you say they don't play, does the time count move,
but no audio? With me, the counter indicates it's jumped into the
stream, and starts counting, as if playing—but with no audio. And the
controls in iPeng for pause etc will now be frozen; I have to restart to
try anything more with iPeng.

Correct. Time is jumping, playback controls non functional. Even if I
try to play local or other remote music.

2022-03-06 Thread Michael Herger

Author: I guess the LMS Tidal plugin can only play "Track", "PlayList"
and "Album" (please correct me if I am wrong), so my app can't do much
as the playing part is managed by LMS (& the Tidal plugin).

Just to confirm that he was spot on here. The "Mix" type wasn't
supported by LMS. Now it is (in 8.3).

I haven't implemented Qobuz own radio feature, but you can use LastMix

This will be the tag reader library not liking your tags. As to why, no
idea. You could perhaps PM me a couple of files and I'll try and
recreate the issue.
