Does the next version of iPeng, honor/remember the server bitrate
sampling setting?

I don't mean that you force it to 128kbps when on a cell network that's
fine. It just needs to be put back to the previous setting when done
not back to unlimited, which it seems to be doing now when on wifi.

Or at least let us specifiy the setting we want when on wifi.

Thanks,
Jeff

I would hope for the later, the rule breaking. The whole purpose would
be to take iTunes out of the picture. It's such a piece of crap.

I've moved to Android. Squeezecommander has the download feature in it
already. So I can survive.

A new LMS player app for iDevices would be cool, completely
disconnected from iTunes. Direct download from LMS, delete locally
from the device when you need more space. Queuing, scrobbling and all
that good stuff. People would buy it. I would just for my iPad, and
know 5 other guys that would as well.

But somehow I think the above app would somehow break Apples "rules" as
well.

Audiogalaxy sounds interesting.

As for the other solutions:

The premium services aren't available in most countries. Plus I don't
really want to pay to listen to music I already own.

iTunes and Wifi syncing is an absolute no go when you have a collection
of 100,000 plus tracks. My PC is a 6 core i7 running at 4.1GHZ, SSD,
etc etc and it still takes iTunes 3+ days to import the friggen'
library and then it's still a nightmare when you fix tags and add new
music. The only way to use iTunes with a collection as large as mine
is not import it into iTunes but manually drag and drop mp3s onto the
phone from windows explorer. It's really sad actually, go apple!

J River Media Center can completely scan my library and support gapless
play back in 30 minutes flat.

Sorry for the repeated thread jacking!

Pippin,

Got a weird one for you.

When I kill iPengHD and then start it up, the first time I visit New
Music the art for the first album in the list is delayed in showing up.
It shows up maybe 5+ seconds after the art for the rest of the albums.

This only happens when starting iPengHD fresh after manually killing in
the task bar.

I've cleared my cache and it still does it.

2015-03-31 Thread Jeff Flowerday

I'm using LMS 7.9 and iPeng 8 on my iPhone 6 and iPad Air 2 and I'm not
impressed with the album art performance. Most of the time it takes a
1/4 second per album when displaying art on my local wireless AC.

LMS 7.9 is running on a quad core virtual machine with 8gb of dedicated
ram and the virtual drive is on an SSD. OS is Server 2012 R2. I have
it configured with the largest memory option, precache artwork is on. I
see the custom ipeng 300x300 being generated.

I turned on the first 2 artwork debugging options and i see the log
entries for using precaching.

All artwork is stored in folder.jpg files. My artwork is 1000x1000 at
the least for most everything. But most is also not perfectly square.
ie) 1000x1005, 1017x1000 etc etc. Also it's high DPI created from
Photoshop.

Pippen, any suggestions?

Why not just charge extra for the local library feature and leave local
playback to support streaming and actual local file playback? It would
save decoupling and the complexity.

It would certainly make your life easier if you could stop the library
feature from being purchased unless playback was already purchased. At
least it would stop the complaining from people that bought library
thinking it included playback.

I'd really love to not have to restart ipeng after doing a quick

I'd give you another $10 just for that.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2010-04-11 Thread Jeff Flowerday

The album art for a few albums isn't showing up in the album list(s).

1) The art shows up fine in the Squeezebox Server web interface. It
also shows up fine on my Duet.
2) Art will show if you drill down to a song in that album in ipeng,
and tell it to show art for that song.

I've cleared the cache, and nothing I try will make the art show up for
these particular albums.

Any ideas?

Well I'm not to keen on moving to 7.6 beta, I have huge music
collection and sqllite concerns me.

Can Andy not get the fix into 7.5.1?

Just wondering why iPeng shows more albums under certain artists than
the Duet remote and the web interface? If you choose any of these
albums, iPeng gives an error saying it cannot connect to the server.

I'm running the latest 7.6 build.

It's a brand new machine fresh install of 7.6

Yes I have the albums, it's the Composer tag causing them to show up.
The artist is a composer on one of the songs in the album. I don't
have the squeezeserver option turned on to include composer in artists,
so I don't know why iPeng wants to include them? The web interface and
Duet don't.

When I start squeezecast and put in the back ground (don't play
anything), then switch to iPeng to control it. As soon as I choose
squeezecast in iPeng, squeezecast loses it's connection and eventually
disappears from the player list in iPeng.

If I go into squeezecast and leave iPeng out of the picture and play an
album all is fine. But as soon as I try to control it from iPeng
squeezecast gets messed up.

Absolutely! Lossless has always been harder on battery then good old

I've always been too lazy to do a shootout of lossless compared to my

You have to restore your iPad backup onto your iPhone. You'll loose
apps on your iPhone that aren't in that iPad backup.

Or you can be like me an just pay the $5 for playback on your phone,
it's just not worth the hassle.

Has anyone got it working, if so please specify what you did.

Thanks,
Jeff
