Glad you are finding the plugin useful Muvster!

Customised names - yes, I have had a few requests for this, and have
indeed looked into it.

It's top of the list at the moment, and there are two ways I think I can
implement this. That's the good news.

The bad news is that real life is getting in the way a bit at the
moment, so it's not going to happen in the next few weeks, maybe longer.

Thanks Michael, great news! Should make it easier to install. I'll
update the instructions.

I'm not sure what's happening here. On my linux box it all works over
https. When I tested on Windows I ran into the problem. Interestingly
the zip files themselves are still served over https (I think - maybe
this is the fallback, as they are also available over http)
At least it's all working now, thanks.

There is a problem on some platforms where the addition of the repo
doesn't work over https. I'm not sure why.
The current workaround is to use http when adding the repo.

I've updated the instructions. (Revisiting those made me realise I
really need to tidy them up!)

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotify Family for Squeezebox

2016-07-11 Thread RichieZed

Mac and Windows version are up!

Note that I have only been able to test the Windows version as I don't
have a Mac. Would be interested to hear of anybody having success with
the Mac version.

http://richiezed.com/squeezefamily/repo.xml or
https://richiezed.com/squeezefamily/repo.xml

The same repo is hosted over http and https, some users were having
trouble with the https link - thanks for picking this up nimnul.

I'm not sure why this is, and it was never a problem on the 2 linux
servers I tested on, only when I got to Windows. I'll try and
figure it out since we are trying to move the whole web to https.

Mac version is ready, I haven't tested it though. (Actually won't be
able to fully test Mac, but will test the Windows version and release
together)

I haven't used the Protocol Handler version. Mine was designed around my
requirements of having each member of the family listen to their own
account through the squeezebox in their room. Also syncing, sharing, and
allowing me to control centrally!

I'll have a look into the Protocol Handler version once I've uploaded
the Mac and Windows version.

I run mine on an Atom based Synology NAS. (Haven't tested on ARM, but
should work the same.)

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Spotify Family?

2016-06-23 Thread RichieZed

I used to use a second instance of LMS - one on the NAS, one on a linux
box.
It worked well, but you needed to split the squeezeboxes between
servers, and then couldn't sync players across servers. It was also a
bit buggy when changing a player from one server to the other.

I was playing with Docker for the second instance when Spotify changed
the Family plan to allow 6 streams. This changed everything.

It was then I looked into what Mika had done, creating a second instance
on the same server. This has the benefit of having all the Squeezeboxes
connected to the one server. This allows syncing between all players.
It also allows playing tracks from various Spotify accounts. My kids
can play a few tracks off one playlist, then a few off another playlist
from another account.

I packaged up multiple instances named for each member of my family to
provide Squeezebox and Spotify bliss in our house. I then made this
more generic and created 6 instance named SpotifyFamily1 through
SpotifyFamily6 and hosted them on some spare web space I have for anyone
to use. Currently only Linux, but looking into Windows and Mac now.

Hopefully it frees somebody else from tween music also!

[SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotify Family for Squeezebox

2016-06-21 Thread RichieZed

Spotify has recently improved the value of the Family Plan. This was
fantastic news in our house, but wouldn't provide the full benefit until
everybody could access their own account through their SqueezeBox.

I'm a long time use of the wonderful Triode Plugin, and have extended
this to enable six concurrent Spotify streams.

This is currently Linux only, and has only been tested on i386, but
should work on arm processors also (Which should cover most NAS boxes)
I'm planning on releasing Windows and Mac version in the next few days.

All credit to Triode for his work on the original plugin and other
contributions to the community over the years. Thanks also to Mika
Fisher for showing that side by side plugins were possible and for
showing the way.

First post, so will post the links in the next post.
