Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try over the weekend and see how that
works out...

That does not fix it :(
I really wonder what could have changed, since it has been working fine
for about 18 months.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Beta version of SvrPowerControl

2012-11-27 Thread Roger the Shrubber

Since yesterday, my 2 Squeezebox2 players do not seem to return to the
server when it wakes up in the morning. They remain connected to
mysqueezebox.com.
Is anyone else seeing this or did something suddenly go wrong with my
own setup?

Thanks!

Yes it is since I would have to start up the laptop that is otherwise
off. I actually use the remote most of the time.

But really, I am just really happy that I got this far already with
your plugin and help! Don't modify anything just for me please.

thanks again for all your suggestions and examples! I think I will
stick to just setting a block on server wake-up, otherwise I would have
to maintain the schedule in 2 places. It may skip 1 hibernation cycle
before it is back to the official schedule, but that isn't too
horrible.

I do have one more question/request: is it possible/it would be nice to
have two levels in the blocking: a hard block that stops all plugin
activity and a soft block that only stops automated work, but still
allows the user to override by manually selecting from the menu.
Reason: if I set the schedule for weekends to wake +block in morning
and unblock (+ idle monitoring) in the evening, I can not shut down the
server if I leave in the morning and I know I won't come back for the
day. Otherwise, I would have to run upstairs, battle the armed guards
and pull the plug.

Thank you very, very much for that extensive response. I think I'll
take the file based approach indeed. There are three situations I'll
have to think more about:
- user manually boots up or wakes server
- user manually hibernates server through the plugin
- user manually shuts down or hibernates server some other way

in both cases, the block would not be set. 1st case could be solved by
setting a block when starting up, but that does not work when coming
from stand-by or hibernate. 2nd case can be avoided by using a custom
command line for the hibernate command (Is that custom command also
used when hibernate is activated after idle? That would take care of
some of the instances of case 1 as well). 3rd case seems impossible to
deal with in windows.
Anyway, if I implement these partial solutions, one has to be quite
unlucky to end up in a case that isn't covered.

On a different note, regarding the netstat window popping up, could you
use 'start /min netstat' or 'cmd /C start /min netstat' or something
similar?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Beta version of SvrPowerControl

2011-03-20 Thread Roger the Shrubber

Hi,

I have set up a dedicated server with XP. I would like it to hibernate
whenever nobody is at home. However, this is a rather complex but
repeated weekly schedule (e.g. most days only morning/evening,
sometimes over lunch, sometimes an afternoon, full days in weekend).
I want to tackle it like this now:
- use the idle timer function of the plugin, but not the EOD
- set all wakeup times as scheduled (dummy) tasks in XP
- with a scheduled task set to run 5 minutes after startup, block the
plugin
- with a scheduled task set at the end of every time, unblock the
plugin, thus allowing the idle timer to do its work.

For this, I need the CLI to block/unblock the idle timer. It is
mentioned a few times throughout the thread, but not in the
documentation, and I can not quite figure out how it should work. Any
hints are therefore very welcome...
Or maybe I should take a very different approach?

Thanks!

I don't know the first thing about Perl (I think it looks like a total
mess), but I somehow got it working. I've probably broken a thousand
other things instead, but anyway, here is what I did after taking an
incomplete clue from http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1465

tm.pm and put them in Plugins/Time/
Voila!

Is there a way to turn off the spectrum showing behind the clocks?

I have the same problem (or at least the same symptoms. For me, the file
seems to be where it should be. I tried with 6.1 and now 6.0.3 and it
still isn't showing. Pacman, blackjack etc. work just fine.

Cheers,
