Sorry, I posted some misinformation here... Last time I checked it still
worked but I tried again today and found out that the streams start
playing but fail after a few seconds. So I DO have the same problems.
Would love to see the plugin fixed, thanks in advance for your work.

I still use it regularly on LMS 7.9.1 with my Squeezebox touch and I
have no problems - at least not as far as I know. Hope the plugin keeps
working since there's a lot of great mixes on Mixcloud (especially the
Ambientblog mixes ;-) ) that I prefer to listen to on my audio system
instead of streaming on a PC or phone.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty v1.1.0

2017-07-12 Thread SlimPvC

Only tonight I read about Spotify stopping the support for Squeezebox. I
was really shocked, since I'm not ready to part with my SB touch which
still does everything I want it to. But Spotify has become an important
part of it...

Two clicks on this forum and I found that Michael Herger already built a
solutions for this problem. Five clicks and it was installed and tested.
WOW. How's that for a platform that isn't even supported by Logitech any
more?!?

(As a sidenote: I'm a squeezebox user from the pre-Logitech, original
SlimDevices period. Ever since the Squeezebox I I'm a dedicated user,
not ready to part yet).

Now I have a question. How can I express my thanks?
Michael: You must have put so much time and effort into this, I cannot
even imagine. Do you have a donate button somewhere?

True
I got myself a Raspberry Pi XBMC media server this week, which offers a
fine working Mixcloud plugin. So it's not due to that it's not possible.
I'm afraid the SB is not that interesting to create plugins anymore now
that it's slowly left to die by Logitech :-(

Makes no difference: as soon as the LMS is stopped, the password setting
is lost.
All other entries (such as the settings for last.fm login etc.) remain
intact; it's only the password that vanishes...

I wonder if this could have anything to do with the installation on a
SSD drive? Though I don't really know what difference this could make.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Spotify triode plugin doesn't remember password?

2013-07-06 Thread SlimPvC

I've been puzzled by this, maybe someone can help:

After a full OS reinstall on SSD, including LMS, the triode plugin does
not remember the password to login to spotify. Whatever I try, after a
reset of the plugin it is lost again. When I enter it manually all works
fine (until the next restart).
I have also tried entering the password in the prefs file, didn't work.
Also, completer un- and reinstall of the plugin does not help.

Hope to get it working again, since this really is one of the finest
plugins available.

Thanks for your time,

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Bandcamp, Spotify, Soundcloud...

2011-12-15 Thread SlimPvC

I found and installed Michael Herger's Bandcamp plugin yesterday and I'm
VERY pleased with this addition.

Squeezebox is my favourite audio device for a lot of years now but
linking it to music services like this enhances the revolution for me.

There's only one desire left: Mixcloud. I understand that that is a
more difficult one to tackled, but I keep hoping it will be added in
the future, too. It's my favourite service for playing all kinds of
different DJ-mixes, but I hate listening to long mixes from my
computer.

(Sorry for the late reply, just noticed your remark).

This would not be the same since Mixcloud hosts "DJ mixes" which are
mostly overlapping collages and that is not the same as a sequences of
separated tracks.

I notice Mixcloud is growing rapidly and there are very much
interesting mixes to enjoy. They have released a great (iphone) app
recently, but that is not the same as enjoying these mixes from the SB
Touch at home..

I still keep hoping that a Squeezebox plugin will be possible sometime!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Mixcloud plugin?

2011-06-13 Thread SlimPvC

Hi Erland

If I understand you right you're thinking of reading the Mixcloud
playlist and then fetch the separate tracks from Spotify?
This wouldn't be the same, since Mixcloud hosts 'mixtapes' in classic
sense, which is not the same as head-tail compilation of divided
tracks.
Most of these DJ-mixes are collages, more than compilations, so dividing
them to tracklists would not really work.

Besides, we already have spotify for that ;-)

(As a Mixcloud contributor 'ambientblog', I host ambient collages which
sometime feature sounds of 4 tracks simultaneously).

I can somehow understand why Mixcloud is 'closed'. They claim to pay
royalties to the artists, though I don't understand exactly how they do
that. Would e nice if they 'opened' up their API for paying customers,
like Spotify does. I'd be more than willing to contribute.

Maybe this has been posted before, but since it may be of help to

There's a MASSIVE speed improvement when adding the Squeezecenter.exe

responsive now, since not all files in the playlist have to be scanned
for viruses upon loading every time.

In my case it's the Kaspersky AV-scanner, but I guess the same for all
virusscanners.

Apar from this: the new spotify client messed up my playlists (in a way

Strange idea that the future will probably be mainly streaming music.
Not buying CD's or downloading (well, a lot less anyway).

[SlimDevices: Plugins] disabling search on remote?

2007-10-12 Thread SlimPvC

Does anyone know how to disable the search button on the SB remote (for
SB1/SB2).

(Here's why: this player plays in a bar, playing random genres. Owner
wants to avoid personnel searchin and selecting their favourites and
breaking the randomness by playing lots of a single genre after
another).

I can disable a lot of features on the server, but NOT the search
button. There must be a sotware tweak workaround for that, but I'm no
programmer.

Help will be greatly appreciated.
Maybe even a free drink at the bar (from the owner, that is...the
personnel will be less amused :-)

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Last.FM plugin forces restart

2006-06-09 Thread SlimPvC

I've seen some behaviour that wasn't there before recently: when
starting the last.fm radio plugin, the Squeezebox restarts. Also, after
changing to another (Last.FM) station, it restarts. Don't know exactly
when this started, but it probably was at version 6.2.2.

My guess us that only about 50% of the time there seems to be a
connection with Last FM but no music starts.

Anyone else noticed this? Is there a solution?

Running Slimserver 6.3.0 - 7728 - Windows XP - EN - cp1252
Last.FM plugin version 1.1.6 (later versions are for 6.5 only)

You hit the nail on the head here :-)
I seem to have been confused as you say, had only the slimscobbler
plugin...well off to new squeezebox-adventures then...
Thanks!

Not with me, I'm afraid: I have installed latest nightly (17-10) of
6.2, but still have only the LastFM login settings under 'plugins'
(uploading the data works with this), but no radio stations options
under Internet Radio. So the Squeezebox updates the data to my profile,
but I cannot play the radio station. yet.

Thanks for the explanation anyway

[SlimDevices: Plugins] biography plugin: amg page change

2005-08-11 Thread SlimPvC

The allmusic page used by the biography plugin (my favorite!) started to
use icons for 'listen' and 'buy now' recently.
Unfortunately they've used a relative path to
/i/pages/site/icons/cart.gif, which is automatically preceded by the
slimserver - and thus the images are not found. When the link is
hardcoded whith 'http://www.allmusic.com' preceding, there's no
problem.

Anyone knows of an easy fix for this? Or should we just wait and see?

Thanks,
Peter
