Hi Pippin,

Sorry to come back so late, but I do perhaps have something more for you
to try and reproduce the problem. It only happens to me if I select a
new album to start playing on a player that currently isn't switched on.
It then starts playing the second track, not the first. This only
happens if I do this using iPeng and only if the player is switched off
before giving the command to load and play a new album. If I use the
web-interface to do the same, it starts the first track as you would
expect.

1) I'll do that if you still require it after my description.
2) Duet, Touch and Radio
3) Directly under albums
4) Didn't make a difference.

Hope this somehow helps. :)

I have the issue that when I select an album from the list to play
immediately (click on cover, not title), that it adds the entire album
to the list. But it plays the 2nd track from the album instead of the
first. I know I had this issue in the past too, but then I think it went
away again with a new version of iPeng. Now this issue is back, but I
haven't changed my LMS-version or any of it's settings for months. I did
however update my iPeng with every new release.

Is there perhaps some setting in iPeng that I've set wrong?

Pippin, I'm sorry to bother you again, but I encountered the hud /
volume slider bug again. As said earlier, I'm on a fresh install of
2.0.1 now. Must say I've been using the new version without problems for
a couple of days. Yesterday I used the iPhone using the iPeng in-app
player to listen to a couple of tracks, while the other group was still
playing. When I switched the player control to that other group
(consisting of a Touch and 2 Radio's), the volume control was broke
again and the hud didn't disappear, as on 2.0.

It seems to be something that can be reproduced, at least on my phone.

Pippin, how big do you estimate the chances of iPeng working with the
new SB-ecosystem in the future?

iPeng is probably the most important reason for staying with the
SB-platform, right before player sync and high-quality FLAC support.

That would be very handy, but Pippin has stated many times in the past
that he won't be doing that.

Personally, I would be willing to pay for it as an in-app purchase,
like the iPhone playback feature that was added later. But if somebody
is willing to write the plugin for the server-side of things, that would
be great! Adding the interface to iPeng in order for it to work won't be
a big issue for Pippin then.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2010-08-03 Thread hvb83

C'mon guys, we're talking about a $10 app here, that was working at the
time it was bought. A $2 app probably doesn't use as many and as
complicated functions as iPeng does and probably many apps didn't need
to be changed again in order to work under iOs4. Most of those
developers probably have just send the file to Apple again, just for
the iOs4-approved badge. In iPeng a lot of functions are being used,
one of them was bound to stop working.

Comparing it to a $80+ app isn't fair either, as those guys probably
have a 10+ development team.

I'm not saying an update fixing the issue should not have been released
by now. But in all fairness, the alarm setting function isn't it's main
feature, most users probably use iPeng for what it was designed: as a
controller for your music collection.

>From what I've seen from an email I send Pippin in the past and in his
replies on forum boards, he is very serious about providing proper
support. If you have a look at this topic, 90% of the questions could
easily have been found by using the search function. In many cases it
is Pippin who is providing answers. Seems he is a bit of a
perfectionist, which isn't nice when you're waiting for a new release,
but at the same time iPeng probably wouldn't have been designed to the
level it is already. Other apps simply need more updates as they aren't
being tested as much and have more anoying bugs during everyday use.
With that I'm not saying iPeng is bug-free (a simple look at the bug
tracker will show this is not true), but in everyday use you probably
won't find as many things that are off in comparison to many other
applications with this level of complexity.

In 80 apps I bought the past 2 years, I probably removed 70 of them
after a few weeks and only 3 of the remainder I use every day, one of
them being iPeng. Not only because it's very useful, but also because
it works like a charm. Even my girlfriend uses it without compaints,
which does account for something.

That said, I understand your frustration about the $10 price and the
lack of updates, as it's a heck of a lot for a app that sets your
alarm. ;)
