Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Vortexbox v EAC or dbPoweramp
garym wrote: I have three vortexbox servers, two capable of ripping CDs. But I don't use the VBs for ripping. All my ripping is with dbpoweramp and I've ripped about 5,000 CDs with dbpa. A key issue for me is the ability of a ripper to match a rip back to the ACCURATERIP database (AR).** EAC, dbpa, cuetools, and maybe a few others can access and submit back to AR. VB ripper does not use. This alone is enough for me to use dbpa for ripping. But dbpa also has excellent metadata perfectmeta where it uses 4 or 5 different sources and then tries to give you the most consistent metadata for that rip. The artwork finder is also excellent. I rip to FLAC with dbpa, do any tag finetuning with mp3tag, and then move files over to my VB server across my network. I also create a mirror of mp3 lossy files from the FLAC files with dbpa converter for use in my iThings. Very easy to do, and dbpa converter preserves all tags, artwork, directory structure, etc. **for those that don't know, AccurateRip is a system (developed by the creator of dbpoweramp) that captures the data from millions of ripped CDs (the CRCs, etc. from the rips). So when you rip a CD, it compares the data from your rip back to the perhaps thousands of other people who ripped the same CD title, but a different physical copy, on a different computer with a different drive. If one's rip matches that information, there is no better guarantee that you have in fact achieved a bitperfect rip yourself. Note that a new tool, PerfectTunes (by the maker of dbpa) will do after the fact checks of your lossless rips back to the accuraterip database. It will also help you fix low quality artwork. http://www.accuraterip.com/ Daphile supports accuraterip and drive offsets. Also makes a good Vortexbox alternative. mintaudio's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=59106 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=102854 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Great New Music Streamer Coming from Norway to the U.S. = Tidal
Well, despite all your arguments I already use Qobuz, and have signed up with Tidal as a comparison. Not sure what that says about me ;) Looking forward to seeing how the plugin goes- Michael has done great work with Qobuz. mintaudio's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=59106 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=102351 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Michael, thank you for the tip to upgrade to the beta version. I do sometimes have stability problems while starting an album - it doesn't 'get' the first track and goes on to the second one - but when it plays, it plays to the end. Hopefully 7.8.1 will help in that respect, otherwise I will need to consider a hardware upgrade. If you're using squeezelite instead of a hardware player, try increasing your buffer size. This fixed Qobuz streaming 'hiccups' on the first track for us on slower internet connections. Now works well even on rural ADSL :) mintaudio's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=59106 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97146 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Smart Mix plugin
The 'experimental' support for Qobuz is working well here - The improvements to the searching/sorting in the Qobuz plugin no doubt helping to leverage it's potential. Very nice :) mintaudio's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=59106 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97668 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Have you tried playing the same track in say player.qobuz.com? Would help determine whether it is an issue with the plugin or Qobuz itself. mintaudio's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=59106 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97146 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
