The issue you can get is that the server isn't fast enough so is starts to play a second of the track before it removes it. It works in my setup but I know at least one user have had problems like this. You will need to change a setting for Custom Skip in Server Settings that is named "ENABLE FILTERING ON ALL PLAYLISTS" to "on" to make the skipping work for Random Mix. I am going to try what has been suggested re multi library and custom skip. I develop control interfaces and have a complete CLI interface for the Pronto PRO that fully controls SlimServer/SqueezeCenter. I am hoping that the Multi lib/custom skip solution will just operate once being set up with no further efforts required from the control system (Pronto PRO) I just want it to filter out the tracks behind the scenes even though I am using the system as it is; as a single folder (Library), with two sub folders which divides up the music. In that way when a random mix is selected the system will attempt to place Surround encoded music into the playlist but will be inhibited by custom skip or the tracks will be dropped as they are taken out of the playlist. Too bad, I would have been happy with just a browse button to select the directory I wanted to exclude. All I wanted to do was cause tracks not be played if they are encoded, and my liibrary is encoded so that they are all in one directory. You have the ability to handle lossless vs lossy, actually lossy vs lossless would work for me now, but I am about to re-rip so the entire library will be lossless. I know there are several users with the same issue, encoded surround tracks. I will look into your suggestion re multi library. I didn't implement it because the user interface part was getting a bit more complex than I thought initially. Showing all directories in a library in a single listbox wasn't very user friendly, so I decided not to do it at the time. However, you can accomplish the same if you are using the Multi Library plugin together with Custom Skip. In Multi Library, you can define a virtual library that consists of the files in a specific directory. I would be very interested in a feature to skip all songs from some directory. I want it to just skip DTS encoded tracks when played through an analog channel. All my encoded music is in a first level sub directory of my main music directory. A new version (1.3.2) of the CustomSkip plugin is now available, there is no new functionallity just an error correction: - Removed non working mixer on Various Artist item - Removed non working mixer icons from web interface - Corrected Playlist and Not Playlist skipping filter that didn't work NOTE 1 If used together with the Dynamic Playlist plugin you will need at least version 1.12 of the Dynamic Playlist plugin. NOTE 2 It has only been tested on slimserver 6.5.* and probably doesn't work on any previous slimserver version. I have made a new plugin called Custom Skip which makes it possible to define skip filters that skips specific tracks before they are played. Best used together with Dynamic Playlist plugin, but skipping can also optionally be enabled in the setting page for all other type of browsing and playlists. Some examples about things that can be done: - Skip tracks rated less than 2 (Requires TrackStat) - Skip unrated tracks (Requires TrackStat) - Skip tracks from a specific album - Skip tracks which is part of a selected playlists - Skip tracks that is part of the zapped playlist - Skip tracks by a specific artist - Skip tracks in a specific genre - Skip short tracks - Skip long tracks For each skip item you can also define a precentage that indicate the chance that a matching track will be skipped. This way to can define a filter that plays all rated tracks with for example SQLPlayList plugin and apply a skip filter that skips 50% of the tracks rated less than 2. A skip filter can modified either by goto the Custom Skip menu in the Plugins section or by browsing to an album, artist, genre and holding play down and selecting Custom Skip. You can also have several filters defined and choose which one you like to use. The first thing you will need to use the plugin after installation is to create a new filter from the Custom Skip web interface. You will find the plugin at my download page as usual. NOTE 1 If used together with the Dynamic Playlist plugin you will need at least version 1.11 of the Dynamic Playlist plugin. NOTE 2 It has only been tested on slimserver 6.5.* and probably doesn't work on any previous slimserver version.
