Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: ts2shout - DVB-S/C MPEG-TS to Shoutcast/Squeezebox stream converter

2020-11-30 Thread siski

Hello,

During the past time I did work on a DVB-S radio station directory
pulled out of tvheadend. I implemented a script that auto generates an
opml favorites tree with your configured DVB-S radio stations (as long
as they are tagged as Radio in tvheadend). Please see the lower part of
the description page
http://www.siski.de/~carsten/radio-streaming-squeezebox.html (headline
"Select tvheadend radio stations comfortably in the Squeezebox"). You'll
also find a perl script called radio-list.pl there.

Regards,

Carsten

OK, that makes sense. I'm a bit busy at the moment, but at some point I
may try this out for access to some of the European stations which seem
to keep changing their direct Internet streaming URLs.

Many thanks

Yes, I realize that, and I actually did that in the beginning. However,
it always bothered me that then just audio was streamed. In contrast to
this the webstream or normal FM radio always contains nice artist and
title information. Sometimes there is also information about the
currently running show. At least the German and Swiss DVB-S programs
transport some broadcast information this way which is then comfortably
shown on the display of the squeezeboxes.

The nice thing about my little program is that Shoutcast works with many
other streaming clients as well and the implemenation is "standalone"
and independent.

Regards,

Hi - This looks really neat and I used to use something similar to
stream from DVB-T in the UK. The one thing that slightly puzzles me
given that you're using TVHeadend to provide some of the info is why you
don't simply use TVHeadend to do the heavy lifting and stream directly
from it? I switched over to this method (and mothballed my TS->Shoutcast
deamon) when I hooked my DVB-T dongle onto a Libreelec / TVHeadend
config and it seems to work very well.

The only thing missing is full EIT Programme info which the old method
provided, but I can live without that given the simplicity.

The key config items are:

1) An LMS Favourites URL in the form (to stream from my TVHeadend radio
channel 704): http://libreelec:9981/stream/channelnumber/704?profile=mp2

2) A matching TVHeadend Stream profile of:

29640

Apologies if this won't work for some reason with your DVB-S / DVB-C
services for some reason...

Brgds
Phil

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: ts2shout - DVB-S/C MPEG-TS to Shoutcast/Squeezebox stream converter

2020-03-04 Thread siski

Hello,

I'd like to announce ts2shout, a converter application that converts
DVB-S/DVB-C radio streams from mpeg-ts to shoutcast. This enables the
LMS and squeezeboxes to stream radio stations from satellite or cable
including station and title information.
The current version v0.85 supports stream name, MPEG EIT(=EPG) and
radio-data-system RDS radiotext for music title and broadcast
information on the squeezebox. Used by myself in conjunction with
tvheadend and a SAT>IP dish.

Please see

* https://github.com/carsten-gross/ts2shout - for the software source
and a short description of the software
* http://www.siski.de/~carsten/radio-streaming-squeezebox.html - as
setup guide
