I like the idea of renaming AlienBBC, so I thought I'd give this a go too... 1. I replaced the icon (.../Plugins/Alien/HTML/EN/plugins/Alien/html/images/alien.png) with a new BBC one: http://www.ulverston.myzen.co.uk/mini-itx/downloads/AlienBBC%20Modification/alien.png 2. Edited the string file (.../Plugins/Alien/string.txt) to read BBC Radio rather than Alien BBC on line 6 of the code. 3. Deleted the alienbbc.opml file from my playlist directory (a new .opml file is then recreated when SC is restarted) 4. As the current Alien beta2 is broken with regard to showing its icon, I had to replaced the install file (.../Plugins/Alien/install.xml) with the new one Triode posted: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showpost.php?p=250831postcount=24 5. Restarted SqueezeCenter and everything looks good and works fine. Note - I did not have to edit the default.opml file as suggested by BPA in a previous post to get this working. I understand there is good reason why the plugin can't officially be called BBC Radio and use the official logo - copyright etc..., and for people outside the UK who use it for non-bbc stations it would make little sense either. The playlist directory I refer to is Squeezecenter's playlist directory as defined in Settings. The directory C:\Program Files\SqueezeCenter\server\Plugins\Alien\Playlists - only contains AlienBBC code. I found alienbbc.opml in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SqueezeCenter\Cache and changed the title from AlienBBC to BBC Radio, which did the trick without requiring a restart. I'll look to see where I can specify an Alien BBC playlist path when I'm a little less full of Christmas cheer. Whilst rummaging around I happened to look at C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SqueezeCenter\prefs\plugin\alienbbc.prefs and was a little confused as to why every path to an Alien Addon was duplicated with a Dos type path, i.e.: C:\PROGRA~1\SQUEEZ~1\server\Plugins\Alien\Addons\ABCRadio.opml: 1198047686 for C:\Program Files\SqueezeCenter\server\Plugins\Alien\Addons\ABCRadio.opml: 1197797641 Is that to be expected? It may be something to do with Windows and also the strange windows naming behavior you are seeing. When AlienBBC starts up - it merges the default.opml with all the addon opml files and write it out to a file called alienbbc.opml in the playlist directory. This is used then for menus and the breadcrumb names. It should be the same as before except the strings are now in their own file. Plugins/Alien/strings.txt Edit: Hmm.. Thank again for this bpa. I've changed it and now Alien BBC is listed as BBC Radio on the SC7 home page. This hasn't changed the name of the app in the bread crumb trail or the title used at the top of the Alien page (Home Alien BBC)? Do you think this is what I should expect or it is perhaps the result of caching? [SlimDevices: Plugins] Can AlienBBC announce itself as BBC Radio?
I am attempting to make my Squeezebox 2 (graphical) as family friendly as possible (ulterior motive: get wife to agree to expenditure on second Squeezebox 3). One thing I'd like to do to further this aim is to get AlienBBC listed as BBC Radio in the top menu level of my Squeezebox. Is this possible and if so, any ideas how? Thanks.
