Example; server1 (Running MIP) file path; z:\music or \\NAS\music server2 (Running SBS) file path; z:\music or \\NAS\music Then I dont see why it wouldnt work, never tried it myself though :) -- cparker www.spicefly.com - Spicefly SugarCube - Taking Squeezebox and MusicIP to the next level. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] MIP on a different IP
whoa it's sensitive to file paths? hmmm that rings a bell. been a couple of years since i've played with this :) could explain my trouble i'm messing around on how to do this on a separate server. Reason being I run SBS on a solaris 10 x86 box (ZFS, RAID-Z, and a giant archive of data). What I did a couple years back was run a Linux zone virtually on the same server, and it worked out ok. What i've been trying this time is running it on a Debian server on the same network, mounting the music via NFS, and then doing an ssh port-forward back from the solaris box. yes i know, seems like i'm going out of my way to make it more difficult :) just experimenting. I can go back to the linux zone method, it's just another thing to set up. What I'll probably end up doing in the longterm, is just make the solaris box a giant NFS server for applications like SBS, and then running stuff on Debian or something. Solaris had a good run but now that Oracle owns it we'll see even less people in the opensource community supporting it. -- mbw23 mbw23's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=20248 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86730 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] MIP on a different IP
Thank you. That was helpful information. With that, I spent a little time editing the plug-in files to add back in the functionality. Not working 100% yet, but I'm getting closer. I see now why it was probably removed. If the file structure on the server machine doesn't look exactly like the file structure on the squeezebox machine, then there won't be a match and the MIP results won't make sense. This issue would make it impossible to support for a general user audience. Still working, but it might not be worth it... -- wactuary wactuary's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=233 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86730 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] MIP on a different IP
It has been possible earlier, in 7.3 I think, but it was removed in beginning of 2009 in svn revision 25526 for some reason, the comment in the log just says "remove legacy path matching code". At the moment Slim/Plugin/MusicMagic/Plugin.pm and Slim/Plugin/MusicMagic/Importer.pm is hardcoded to contact MusicIP at "localhost" and the configured port. -- erland Erland Isaksson ('My homepage' (http://erland.isaksson.info)) (Developer of 'many plugins/applets' (http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/User:Erland). [SlimDevices: Plugins] MIP on a different IP
It's been forever since I've been here on this forum. I've happily migrated up to the newest versions and added a boom and all kinds of happy stuff. But now, I'm seeking the collective wisdom of the forum... I've added a Synology Disk Station and I'm looking to migrate my music and squeezecenter down to that and finally shut off my desktop when not in use. The only glitch is losing MIP support on the Synology. I don't need MIP 100% of the time. I'm wondering if there is a way to keep MIP on my desktop and have Squeezecenter look for it on a different IP address? You can specify port, why not specify IP too? It's just parsing an html screen for it's data, so shouldn't be an issue, right? Can I trick the Synology to redirect calls for that port to a different IP? Or does squeezecenter need to add that functionality directly? Would love any suggestions.
