Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Question: Setting up Multi-Library and Custom Browse
I'm at work at the moment, so I'll try it out this evening. I think you are on to something, especially with item 2. I realize now that the Various Artists box probably isn't needed with my collection, so that may be part of my problem. That being said, I have a similar menu for my mainstream music library and I wonder why it doesn't show a similar behavior. Does using the Dependent Library to setup a library make a big difference in the library behavior or performance? I would assume that it wouldn't make much of a difference as once a library is set up it is set up. For instance; I have 3 libraries set up right now. One for classical, One for Christmas, and one for Everything Else. The first two are setup as standard libraries based on their respective root folders (it's a long story why I wouldn't use genres). The third library is dependent on everything not in those other two libraries. The menus have been much better behaved for this library, and I thought I had essentially just copied the menu settings to the Christmas library. Anyway, I could have just as easily set it up as a standard library on its own root folder. Would this have been better? worse? -- emalvick emalvick's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=35382 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=91901 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Dependent libraries is just another way to setup the libraries since often you want the define sub libraries for some things and have everything else in a main library. As long as the number of songs shown (counters in Multi Library menu) are correct it shouldn't have any effect on functionality/performance after the library have been saved. -- erland Erland Isaksson ('My homepage' (http://erland.isaksson.info)) (Developer of 'many plugins/applets (both free and commercial)' (http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/User:Erland). Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Question: Setting up Multi-Library and Custom Browse
Well using the Filtered artists menu worked. That's good. I'm not sure why that worked better than the other setup. I didn't select any genres only the library and Album Artists selection, and I was set. As for the suggestion in item 2, not selecting the Various Artists option didn't work. I thought I had tried that before and found the same thing, but I wasn't certain. This is good because I discovered that the CB menu I had for my main db was suffering from the same problem, and the Filtered Artist menu option will solve that. Thanks for the help. It's giving me a whole new appreciation of how great your plugins are. -- emalvick emalvick's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=35382 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=91901 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Question: Setting up Multi-Library and Custom Browse
Ok... I've added all my holiday music, and in my Album Artists menu I am finding that a handful of artists are showing up that do not have albums in that particular library. If I click on those album artists, their menu entry is blank. It seems that the artists that are showing up are artists that 1. are track artists on a compilation album in the Holiday Library AND 2. are album artists in my Mainstream library. However, there are track artists in the holiday collection that meet the same criteria in 1. and 2. above that are not listed as Album Artists, so I am a bit confused at what could be the problem. The Holiday Library itself seems normal as the library lists the correct number of tracks. Browsing by Album shows the correct albums. It is only the Album Artist menu that seems to be leaking some connection to the Mainstream library. To add another piece to the puzzle. I also started setting up a classical library with only one album in it. Right now I only have one menu set up for Genre. I had expected to only see the genres associated with the classical library in my genre menu, but all the genre's in the complete library show up, although once I am in one of those genre menus they show up blank reflecting that they don't really exist in the classical library. The classical library only has 6 tracks in it with 2 genres, but this seems to be related to my Album Artist problem in my Holiday library. I've tried various settings in the Custom Browse Menus and the Libraries themselves. The two libraries; Holiday and Classical are standard libraries based on a root folder I use to keep that music separate from my mainstream music. The mainstream library is a dependent library that is set to exclude music from the holiday and classical library. In that particular library, I converted all my old Custom Browse Menus to only read from the Mainstream Library, and they work perfectly. As far as I can tell I am matching most settings up in the Custom Browse Libraries with careful care of group and library names and what is working in my mainstream library... Although I now realize that the custom browse menus for my mainstream library are not in the same group as the library name... Yet they work. Does group name matter? I'd like to figure this out as it can be a bit annoying to click on a menu item that is empty or to see genres in my classical music collection that are obviously not classical music. -- emalvick emalvick's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=35382 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=91901 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Question: Setting up Multi-Library and Custom Browse
Can you post the *.cb.values.xml or *.cb.xml files which corresponds to the menus that doesn't work ? You will find them in the directory which you have configured in the Custom Browse settings page. -- erland Erland Isaksson ('My homepage' (http://erland.isaksson.info)) (Developer of 'many plugins/applets (both free and commercial)' (http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/User:Erland). Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Question: Setting up Multi-Library and Custom Browse
Hi I need to look into this in more detail to figure out what's actually wrong in your setup, but two things I'd like you to try: 1. Try if it works if you create a new album artist menu through Custom Browse settings page by using the template Filtered Artists and make sure to select the proper library in the Library parameter. 2. Try if it makes any difference if you uncheck the Various Artists section in the Custom Browse menu configuration. The purpose of this checkbox is to use SBS autodetection of compilation albums but if you have a real ALBUMARTIST tag set to Various Artist I don't think you want this checkbox to be checked. Please let me know if any of the above works, if it doesn't I'll dig deeper into the configuration and try to see what's wrong. Regarding grouping there are two parameters in the Custom Browse menu configuration that have various effects: - Library: Controls the filtering - Menu group: Controls where the menu is displayed So if you have selected Library but left the Menu group empty it will be displayed in the top level inside Custom Browse main menu but it will still have the right filtering. On the other hand, if you have left Library empty but specified Menu group it will appear among the library menus but it will not have the proper filtering of artists. When you check a checkbox in the Multi Library configuration, it will justs provide a menu based on the Genres, Artists, Albums menu templates in Custom Browse but set the Library and Menu group parameter to the library name. -- erland Erland Isaksson ('My homepage' (http://erland.isaksson.info)) (Developer of 'many plugins/applets (both free and commercial)' (http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/User:Erland). [SlimDevices: Plugins] Question: Setting up Multi-Library and Custom Browse
First time finally trying to use the Multi-Library function. I'm testing it out by setting up a library for Christmas music separate from my other music. Currently, I have 2 libraries set-up. The Christmas music library is a standard library based on one directory where it is all at, and the remaining music is set-up as a dependent library that excludes the Christmas one (as the wiki shows for setting up a classical library). I've been testing this out with one album in my Christmas library. It is a compilation album that I've set up using a Various Artists Album Artist tag. The CB menus are set up so that under the Christmas Group I can browse by Album Artists, and that specific menu is set for the specific library. The problem is that when I browse that menu all the Song Artists (for this one CD) that are Album Artists on other albums in the overall library show up in the album artist menu with empty listings. Is there something I'm missing. I've played around with various settings in the CB. Interestingly, when I try to see if the opposite occurs with my standard library, it doesn't. -- emalvick emalvick's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=35382 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=91901 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
