Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: [Announce] SlimRemote 0.6 - now featuringInternet radio support
I tried using the java.jar version rather than the ewe one and it works just fine - with three instances open at once they each consume 1% of CPU. Not sure what was wrong with my ewe set up but never mind, I have got what I want now. If ever you wanted to investigate further it seems you'd better address the issue at ewesoft.com. Seems to be a problem with ewe on your distro. Seems to be a good idea to have the .jar file in the standard build. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: [Announce] SlimRemote 0.6 - now featuringInternet radio support
Davep However, when I run the program under ewe on Ubuntu Linux I am seeing excessive CPU usage - about 25 to 30% of resources for each instance of SlimRemote running. [..] Is this a problem with my setup or is there something about the ewe install that I need to be aware of that can cause this? This is not normal. I just tried with the SlimCD run in VMWare (at work I'm bound to Windows): ewe consumed 0.9-2.9% when idle. I'll probably add a debug switch to get some of the caught exceptions to screen. I've experienced excessive CPU usage, when there were problems with server communication. As it is not really multithreaded (a tribute to portability to PDAs) SlimRemote _can_ get stuck on waiting connections. -- Michael --- Help translate SlimServer by using the SlimString Translation Helper (http://www.herger.net/slim/) ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins

Really nice product. Could you also add a feature to browse folders? Really nice product. Could you also add a feature to browse folders? As soon as it is supported by the CLI. ...on my iPAQ 200 Mhz PocketPC. It runs slowly and is very unresponsive. Has anyone else experienced the same? I Really want to be able to use SlimRemote but the way it runs now, it's painful. What does very unresponsive mean? Don't expect response times in the ms range, don't expect it to be as snappy as on a 3GHz PC. But I can scroll a list of about 500 artists with a delay between pages of 1 second. Subsequent scrolls within a minute should be almost immediate as the data is cached on the device. What's your server's specification? SlimRemote relies a _lot_ on the server. Almost all processing is done within SlimServer. -- Michael --- Help translate SlimServer by using the StringEditor Plugin (http://www.herger.net/slim/) ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: [Announce] SlimRemote 0.6 - now featuringInternet radio support
Michael, you may recall that I was the difficult guy who wanted to run SlimRemote on a system with a non-standard 9xxx html port. Your version 0.6 fixes the problem with seeing artwork just fine - thanks. However, when I run the program under ewe on Ubuntu Linux I am seeing excessive CPU usage - about 25 to 30% of resources for each instance of SlimRemote running. I would like to run 3 copies - one for each of my 3 SBs as I find this fits nicely on screen in three side-by-side panels, enabling easy control of the three boxes without the switching needed under the browser interface. But this basically maxes out the resource loading at close to 100% - not a desirable state obviously. Is this a problem with my setup or is there something about the ewe install that I need to be aware of that can cause this? davep -- davep davep's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=61 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=22614 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
