Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Spotty really slow...

2019-03-13 Thread Hughby

Interesting thread.

I was also sometimes seeing longish delays at the start of tracks. This
new release certainly seems better (based on feel rather than any
scientific tests).

I read the librespot thread. I listen mainly to Classical music and
'track' lengths of 15-20 minutes are not uncommon. I just selected an 18
minute track and it started in about 3-4 seconds with the new Spotty
version.

As always, many thanks Michael...

The file is not a .zip file, it's an executable. Remove the extension.
Make it executable (sudo chmod a+x spotty-custom).

And it's for Linux on ARM only. What platform are you running your LMS on?

If you can't run it using ./spotty-custom, then something's wrong.

Success!

My test results...

1. When pCP is already selected as a device in the Android Spotify app:

- A random track starts playing after 4 seconds
- Skipping tracks also takes 4 seconds

2. When a track is playing through my phone's speakers and I switch to
pCP in the Spotify app:

- Track continues playing after 9 seconds

Thank you for your patience and support, Michael. Spotty is excellent
now! :D

Cheers

When you go to Settings/Advanced/Spotty, what helper would it report to

Many thanks for your continued support, Michael

I'm not sure I can offer any more insights for you, other than to say
there is -always- a lengthy delay (as described in my first post) when
starting or skipping tracks via the Spotify Android app. The delay
becomes a few seconds less when playing tracks directly via LMS.

I suppose the LMS cache lives on the SD card (?), as I haven't changed
the default cache settings or set up a connection to my Synology NAS
yet.

The card is the default one that came shipped with the rpi 3B+ from
IQAudio (SanDisk 16GB) -

Hi slartibartfast,

It takes about 30 seconds for a track to start playing when played via
the Spotify app on Android. This is roughly the same whether played
through wired gigabit or wireless (I've tested both 2.4 and 5GHz).

If I skip a track via the app, it takes 12-15 seconds to start playing.
Pausing a track is almost instant.
