Interesting thread. I was also sometimes seeing longish delays at the start of tracks. This new release certainly seems better (based on feel rather than any scientific tests). I read the librespot thread. I listen mainly to Classical music and 'track' lengths of 15-20 minutes are not uncommon. I just selected an 18 minute track and it started in about 3-4 seconds with the new Spotty version. As always, many thanks Michael... I thought I would try this new helper but cannot get it to work. I renamed the zip file to spotty-custom.zip dropped it into The file is not a .zip file, it's an executable. Remove the extension. Make it executable (sudo chmod a+x spotty-custom). And it's for Linux on ARM only. What platform are you running your LMS on? Success! My test results... 1. When pCP is already selected as a device in the Android Spotify app: - A random track starts playing after 4 seconds - Skipping tracks also takes 4 seconds 2. When a track is playing through my phone's speakers and I switch to pCP in the Spotify app: - Track continues playing after 9 seconds Thank you for your patience and support, Michael. Apologies - the exact binary is "spotty-hf (v0.13.0)" Ok, please download https://www.dropbox.com/s/m7gcj3s8tse0glw/spotty-custom?dl=0 and copy it to your Pi. Make sure it's called spotty-custom. Move it to a place in your search path (see LMS/Settings/Information). Then restart LMS. Double-check whether Spotty is picking it as the binary of choice. The Spotty Helper Application is set to "Select Automatically (default)" ...and then it would say what flavour that was. When you go to Settings/Advanced/Spotty, what helper would it report to be using? Would you be willing and able to copy a new helper to your SD card and move it to the right place manually? Oh, and some timely discussion going on: in https://github.com/librespot-org/librespot/pull/297 there's discussion about how to speed up playback start in librespot, the library Spotty is using. It lead me to a theory where storage could be a problem. I was asking about where your cache was living. If it was the SD card, what kind of product is it? This is roughly the same whether played through wired gigabit or wireless (I've tested both 2.4 and 5GHz). What if you used the LMS Spotty interface? Any faster?
