Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] problems with Information Screen / Mail plugin
I'm mostly interested in customizing the Now Playing screen. I realized this might be an older plugin, but it wouldn't have occurred to me to consider Custom Clock for this functionality. Thanks for pointing it out, I'll take a look and see if I can accomplish what I want with it. -- Mike Snow Mike Snow's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=40127 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=81386 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

In many cases I think Custom Clock applet locally installed on the Touch/Controller/Radio configured through Custom Clock Helper plugin installed in SBS will give you better result. The Information Screen plugin was a first try to accomplish a configurable switching screen on Touch/Radio/Controller while I later developed the Custom Clock applet which in most cases does a lot better job. There might be some stuff not yet supported in Custom Clock, I think most of the Information Screen functionality should be there might I'm not completely sure. Information Screen is the old solution and I don't plan to maintain that in the future as I've replaced it with Custom Clock in my own setup. So if you want to invest time learning how to configure things, it's better that you do that using Custom Clock. If you like to have switching screens and not just switching sub items on a screen, you also want to install and configure the Screen Switcher applet on your Touch/Radio/Controller which makes it possible to switch continuously between screen savers. -- erland Erland Isaksson ('My homepage' (http://erland.isaksson.info)) (Developer of 'many plugins/applets' (http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/User:Erland). After fiddling around some more, I was able to get the Now Playing version of the Information screen, but not with the behavior I was expecting. That is to say, instead of displaying the lines for Current track row 2 and 3 below row 1, where I would have expected, they ended up displayed smaller in black text toward the upper left of the screen. It could be that there's still something I'm not understanding about how to set this up properly. But I was also wondering if perhaps this behavior indicates that the plugin, which I gather predates the Touch, is producing behavior based on the display formats of other Squeezebox devices. -- Mike Snow Mike Snow's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=40127 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=81386 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I'm also having trouble figuring out the Information Screen plugin with my Touch. I did get the applet installed and set it as a screensaver, but wasn't able to get any of the screens except for the clock to work. -- Mike Snow Mike Snow's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=40127 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=81386 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

If not, you will have to do that. If it isn't available, you will have to goto Settings/Advanced/Applet Installer on your controller and install the "Information Screen" applet. -- erland Erland Isaksson ('My homepage' (http://erland.isaksson.info)) (Developer of 'many plugins/applets' (http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/User:Erland). [SlimDevices: Plugins] problems with Information Screen / Mail plugin
I fail to get the Mail + Information Screen plugins working on my controller. (server: 7.5.1 - r30836) the mail headers get fetched as I can see in the servers web interface under Extras -> Mail, but the Controller shows no reaction. I installed the Information screen from erlands testing repository. (both of his repositories are in my list). I installed the information screen applet on the Controller. In the Information Screen settings under "Various Settings" I set "Screen configuration directory" to "/var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/Mail/Screens" and "Screen templates directory" to "/var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/Mail/ScreenTemplates". Is this correct, or should these be newly created directories? Under "Manage Screens" I selected under "Default / New Mail" customized and selected to display "play, idle, off, alarm". Did I miss something, or did I make a mistake in the configuration? -- squeeze_paul squeeze_paul's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=32308 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=81386 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
