Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Cdplayer Plugin and DTS CD

2008-09-21 Thread bpa

Strange - the WAV should have worked. The possible explanations are that
your network could not deliver the WAV stream or that there is an error
in the cdplayer conf settings for WAV only stream.

Anyhow - it's academic since it works.

When I first tried, I had WAV streamed to the SB3 to save CPU cycles.
How foolish of me :)
With FLAC it works out of the box like a charm.

I don't understand. The default is to use Flac.

When you first tried - were you trying to play it through a stereo
direct and not through a DTS decoder ?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Cdplayer Plugin and DTS CD

2008-09-20 Thread jimi00

Actually, these DTS cds are just like Red Book Audio except with DTS
instead of PCM encoded in the tracks (i'm not sure i'm technically
correctly expressing myself). There is a thread on these forums on
ripping these DTS CDs to flac and then having the SB2 or SB3 passing
the data to the digital output:
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=24714
I guess it could be possible to have cdda2wav convert to flac before
sending the stream to the SB3... in fact, I'm trying it right NOW!!
IT WORKS!!
I dont even have to rip my whole dts cd collection!

cdda2wav uses the libparanoia library and i can't find any references to
dts cd in cdparanoia - so you need to provide more help than the URL to
see this happen.

As I said I don't have any dts cd's so i can't try anything - I am
sceptical that cdparanoia will work.

BPA, you rule! Thinking about re-writing the cdplayer plugin with
cdparanoia as the ripper? Anyone wants to join in?
Actually I dont really have the proper pre-requisite to help with the
right syntax. Bummer.

I don't know - I don;t have dts cd's - what is the command line to use
so that cdparanoia can take a specific track and send to a pipe in real
time ?

Oh, could cdparanoia do it then?
