Given that the screen is more horizontal a fireplace screensaver would
probably work better.  For quick refreshes this would probably have to
be supported in the firmware.  The size of fire could probably be
influenced by the type of music you're playing.  The display also seems
to be capable of having different pixel shades in use at the same time
as the spectrum analyzer screensaver seems to have multiple shades.

Or better yet, a screen saver that took pre-determined sized animated gifs
(or some other animated image format) and converted it to display on the
squeezebox screen...
